The beds and pillows were so comfy, we slept for almost 12 hours our first night... The foods, buffet style, were good, with many options. (They are comfort foods, if you expect high-end kind, it's not for you...) The customer services were what we appreciated and enjoyed the most. All of the staff, from the front desk hosts, to the managers, bartender (Annette), food service group... everyone was so friendly, nice, and welcoming. *The only "issue" that we experienced was the super loud, seemed like hours long, of car honkings, engines noice... of 1 night. But it wasn't the hotel's problem. The home team, The Spurs, won the game and the city was celebrating... Highly recommend this hotel and the services here... She helped arrange safe airport transportation for my friend when she arrived before me and, when my flight was significantly delayed, made sure she could check in without me. Being stuck traveling and knowing she was in good hands was invaluable. We were welcomed with a personal note, fruit, flowers and champagne, and then surprised with more birthday treats during our spa day. Those thoughtful details made the entire stay feel special. And the SPA! Easily one of the best I've ever visited. Being able to truly relax before and after our treatments -- especially in the beautiful post-treatment lounge -- made it an experience rather than simply a massage appointment. Jessica gave me what was quite literally the best massage I've ever had (and I've had a lot of massages!). Even the little things stood out: complimentary morning coffee delivered through room service and an incredibly kind and helpful room-service attendant. Luxury hotels can have beautiful rooms and impressive amenities. What made Mokara exceptional was how genuinely cared for we felt from beginning to end. The personal touches made all the difference. It was still AMAZING and left me wishing that I could stay longer! My King Room was huge and ultra clean and comfortable! Taking a break from work, I headed to the pool deck, which was small but sufficient and had comfortable chairs to sun in. I remembered an amazing redfish dish from Ostra, enjoyed so many years ago... I really wanted to eat at Ostra again this visit, because I saw redfish on the menu and wondered if it was really as good as my memory of it. I was initially bummed that Ostra was closed for a private event during my stay, BUT my disappointment quickly turned to excitement when I saw the same dish offered on the room service menu. YES!! It was as good if not better than my memory of it! Finally and importantly, the individuals working in valet, front desk, and room service were so service driven and friendly! Overall, I cannot wait to stay at the Mokara again in the hopefully, not so distant future!

Returning to the very place where we said "I do" was already emotional enough, but Hotel Valencia somehow made the experience even more memorable than our first stay. From the moment we arrived, the staff was exactly as we remembered them: kind, attentive, professional, thoughtful, and genuinely wonderful. Our room was absolutely gorgeous, and when we walked in on our first day, we found the sweetest surprise waiting for us: a bottle of champagne, chocolate-covered strawberries, and a congratulations message written in chocolate on the plate. I actually teared up a little! It was such a thoughtful and adorable gesture that truly made us feel seen, celebrated, and cared for. There is something so special about Hotel Valencia. The location is perfect step out the front door and you're right in downtown San Antonio. From the hotel restaurant, you can take the stairs or elevator directly down to the River Walk, which makes getting around so easy and convenient. What we especially loved is that this hotel has so much character and charm. It doesn't feel like one of those cookie-cutter chain hotels. We had a balcony, although it was simply too hot during our visit to sit outside and enjoy it. I'm sure it would be wonderful on a cooler evening! The bar and restaurant were both excellent, and the entire staff was friendly and welcoming. A special shout-out to the valet guys they provided wonderful service and were always so helpful. She walked away from us in the middle of our order and appeared visibly irritated with nearly everyone she assisted. The room itself was nice, but we had another issue with housekeeping. When we checked in, we were asked if we wanted housekeeping during our two-night stay, and we specifically said no. Despite that, housekeeping entered my room while we were away, removed and lost my personal towels, replacing them with hotel towels! They also entered my son's room and threw away a pizza that was in a pizza box sitting on his desk. It was food he had eaten for lunch that day and had not intended to throw away. For the amount of money we paid to stay here, I expected a much higher level of service and professionalism. Unfortunately, the chaotic atmosphere, poor communication, and lack of respect for our privacy made this a disappointing stay. I do not recommend staying at this hotel.

In the middle of making the order she switched to making the regular coffee, no grumbling or body language that indicated irritation just a smile. The most meaningful thing happened at the pool. I was up early writing and had pulled out a very heavy chair to prop my feet on. When leaving I started to put it back. A little old lady Miss Anderson put her hand up to stop me, when I protested she smiled and said no you go on I got this. The check in people are nice and welcoming and if you join the loyalty program you get 1 free drink ticket which is nice. Breakfast is a bit expensive but so is everything on the river so eat at the restaurant which has brunch till 3pm. Our room included 2 FREE bottles of water which was nice. Try to visit the bar in the evening and meet KD, great bartender that treats all his customers as they are the only people there. KD made are last night at the Omni truly enjoyable. Great place for some bourbon pours. If you are lucky you will meet Josh the assistant food & beverage director. Josh made our anniversary evening special with a slice of dessert...thanks Josh, thanks KD for making our anniversary trip a special occasion to talk about. Really liked the glass door refrigerator so I could see how many water bottles we had left. Hahaha. We walked everywhere from this location! Early morning to the Alamo and back for a refreshing dip in the pool before walking to go out for the evening ! Their breakfast buffet is superb. A great variety and the omelette station is excellent. You choose what you like, then the gentleman will put it together! It was delicious. The host Amber was friendly and told us about the San Antonio Saga at the San Fernando Cathedral. She also told us about the Pearl District, but I don't think we will have time to visit this trip. The happy hour was nice. The bartender Steve hustled when they got busy! He smiled and was very appreciative of tips!. I think most people forget the importance of tips to these guys! Although there was no text option to request my car, that hardly mattered--the valet team was lightning-fast in retrieving it. The complimentary evening reception was exactly what you hope for after a long day. Thorin (learned her dad was a Hobit fan) and kept the conversations, cocktails and beer welcoming and plentiful, and the chef's homemade hummus, graciously offered to evening guests, is THE best hummus I've had in all my worldly travels. Seriously--it deserves its own mention. Breakfast brought another memorable experience. I met Amber, who moved from table to table like an elegant hummingbird with a purpose, making sure guests were enjoying themselves and everything was right. She suggested I try the made-to-order omelet. I hesitated after seeing a line of about 15 people, walked away and she insisted I go back as she assured me it moved quickly. She wasn't wrong. My custom omelet was prepared in less time than it would have taken a chicken to lay the eggs--and it was excellent. Jose, "the boss," monitors the guest experience from afar, engaging appropriately when needed and clearly making sure the entire operation maintained its quality. You can see the teamwork. And I saved the best for last. "OB" (O'Brian) greeted me at the front desk and took the time to determine what mattered to me in selecting a room--did I prefer the view or amenities? Somehow, I ended up with both. Disclaimer: This review is for their excellent valet service and courtesy EV charging. My hotel did…read morenot offer an EV charger, but the Hyatt Regency was just a block or so away and it popped up in my EV charger Google search. When I got to their valet I explained how I was not staying with them but I needed an overnight charge so that I can make it back to Austin the next morning. They were super nice and helpful and explained how the charger was in use but that it would be freed up soon. They promised to do it for me so I didn't have to worry about waiting on the other vehicle. The next morning my 2020 Nissan LEAF was fully charged and ready to go! Additional disclaimer: I'm not sure what brand they have but I got a sense that it might be a Tesla level 2 charger (AKA "destination charger"). So while my LEAF has a standard J1772 port, I also happen to have a quality NACS to J1772 adapter. So good idea to have one just in case, because I can't verify what type they use. Just a heads up it got my attention when the valet asked me if I had an adapter. Anyway, shout out to the valet staff. I am so sorry I forgot the name of the person who retrieved my car, he was great and when I dropped it off, Armando and Alec were super courteous and helpful as well. I realize valet companies are not part of the hotel, but they are often times your first interaction/impression, and these guys are top notch. One more disclaimer: overnight parking is quite expensive, but it was just a little more than my hotel would have charged me anyway. So while very convenient, this was not cheap.
