Really impressive looking Best Western. It looks like a Bavarian Chalet. Nice and clean too. So much foliage. A lot needs to be trimmed back but it's nice and lush. We got a ground floor, Dog Friendly room but it was just across from the pool where people were bring loud and annoying. I guess if my dogs were loud and annoying, then it would be drowned out by their ruckus. Ha ha! The floors are carpeted so hopefully your pet won't have an accident. I love that this one has a gym. I think its a first for me at one of these Best Westerns! It's a decent gym. I've seen worse. But I love having the option to go to the gym! read more

If you're looking for a high-end place, walking distance to downtown or not a fan of dogs, this may not be the place for you. I keep this a solid 4 star simply because the staff was outstanding incredibly helpful and they truly were dog friendly. The rooms while little dated, they were clean and comfortable. This may also be because we required a dog friendly room. That they gave us a pet pack, which included a sheet for my dog to sleep on. Might only complaint is the parking lot is a little tight and our room was on the first floor near stairs. I'm just not a fan of being on the first floor so that's a thing and not the hotels. Good staff here from front desk to housekeeping and the breakfast team. Clean rooms, clean facility overall. Easy booking and check in. Ample parking, with a quite place. Our only complaint is that the TV reception is far below par but to be fair, we have seen this with hotels in the UK and Vegas in the past two months. I believe it has to do with using the Internet for the data. The lack of an elevator is puzzling as I am SURE the ADA was passed some years back. read more

I booked over the phone , they made a mistake about the date and when I called to double check with them they told us that we didn t show up and that there will be no refund , no credit and that it was impossible they made a mistake on their side . This is a good place to stay on a road trip. No frills but clean and convenient. We have stayed here 5 or 6 times. This is the second time we've stayed here in very hot weather and experienced problems with the air conditioning. It was 90 degrees today and the air conditioner was not running in our room when we checked in. We turned it on and went to dinner. When we returned the room had not cooled off much. We lowered the setting on the unit but the air it circulated was not cold and the room never cooled off to the temperature we set the unit to. Something similar happened to us on a previous stay, but after several trips to the office (late at night) we were able to resolve it. We will never stay here in hot weather again. If you expect to be in Ashland during the hot summer months, stay somewhere else. read more

Gayle and I stayed her last Friday night after we drove into Ashland after a long 6+ hour drive from Genoa. The room was well priced, roomy, and comfortable. The "free hot breakfast" was good enough and front desk staff were efficient and engaging. We were told that this Best Western no longer offers a shuttle into Ashland for OSF related pickups and drop offs. That loss of customer convenience was unfortunate as we'd maybe stay here again with that kind of extra service. read more

Unfortunately, this place did not meet expectations and this is a two star review. The reason I give 2 stars, and not 1, is Only because Ryan at the front desk was friendly and helpful as possible. Shout out to Ryan for giving us a pet friendly room next to the pet relief area, and the great conversation he gave on Ashland,Oregon recommendations. Other than that our stay here at the Best western in Ashland was not good at all. We had no hot water for the shower for the entire stay here. The hottest it got was barely lukewarm...we had to keep our showers under 5 minutes to avoid freezing cold water. This was so miserable, and I hope future guests do not have to deal with this. We called the front desk to advise them we did not have warm shower water; we were told staff had no control over the water temperature, and maintenance were the ones who controlled that issue. I knew from there we just had to deal with it for the next two days...and to mention our room had bugs, and the front desk couldn't even accommodate a 30 minute late checkout...Thank God we were only here for 2 days and have an Air BNB for the remainder of our stay. I definitely hope this location improves, and at the least fix the hot water issue. Overall, I most definitely DO NOT recommend this place. We will not be staying here again in the future...I would say support AIR BNB's, they're more accommodating to your basic needs. It served its purpose for somewhere to sleep out of the extreme heat. When you pay 500 dollars for a 2 night stay you would expect a better experience. read more

We only stayed here one night, but we really liked it. The front desk was very helpful when we had called prior and then checked in later, great service! Our room was very clean and I would say that this is a nicer Best Western than most. The breakfast was okay, but the way they have it setup is horrible, really my own complaint. The ladies working in there are doing great though. The layout is the pros, although I think they set it up that way so you don't really want to even bother with it. I really like this hotel. I'm sorry I didn't take photos of our rooms but I was so enchanted with the gardens that I got sidetracked. We stayed here for 3 nights in 1st floor rooms (our request) while we explored Ashland and it's surroundings. BTW - make sure to visit Jacksonville. What an enchanting little town full of wonderful little boutiques. We were very happy here, the rooms were what I expect in a clean, comfortable, up to date and quiet hotel and the gardens were so beautiful. A good Mexican restaurant is across the street and the hotel is very convenient to downtown Ashland. This will forever be our go to hotel when we are in Ashland. read more

This is one of the nicest Best Westerns we have been in... it's close to the freeway, yet not so close that you hear freeway noise. Individual entries to all rooms, so you don't have to go through a crowded hotel corridor. It's also got a Shakespearean theme as do most buildings in Ashland, so that's to be expected. Only downside is that they don't serve a normal breakfast, however, we discovered the Breadboard that's a new favorite. We've always stayed in Medford, however, the Windsor is our new go-to place in the region. read more

My husband and I had thought about getting a room here while we stayed there but they gave us a bunch of flack over not paying cash over card. They asked for my card information and a complied. we never ended up staying there be cause of the hassle they gave us. Today I checked my bank account and I'm -$137 to this hotel! Not the greatest Best Western. And the customer service is sub-standard. My mother checked in and was told that their cable was completely out - no TV during their stay. She wasn't greeted as a Platinum member, and they didn't have the 'loyalty bag' normally given to Platinum members. She got two bottled waters handed to her, but no granola bar?!? Really. So, the next morning when she checked out, she asked the Manager on Duty about any kind of compensation. Nada. But what about some extra points for the inconvenience? Nice, clean & pet friendly | No refunds on bookings $$ We stayed here for two nights last minute. We were driving back home escaping from the fires in Santa Rosa. So, I first booked while on the road (on very little sleep because we were evacuated). Unfortunately, I had booked the wrong dates in November when I needed a room the same day in October. I found this out when I was checking in and was told I'd have to contact Expedia to have them cancel my reservation. No fees with Expedia, but Expedia later told me that Best Western's policy is no refunds even if you booked the wrong dates and stayed there anyway. So, I lost $109 for booking the wrong dates in November. Then, I paid $218 for the two nights I stayed. Just wish the manager could have allowed me to get a refund given our situation and since I still gave them business. // That's why I knocked off a star on this review. Other than that, this is a great hotel. Close to the gas station and HWY 5. Rooms are exceptionally clean considering it to be a pet friendly place. I didn't find any pet dander on beds and linen. Breakfast is popular! Eggs, bacon, fruit, coffee, tea, cereal, juice. Never had a problem with parking, but it looks like it can get more full towards the end of the night. I was planning on writing a good review because service was good and room was nice and clean until the next morning I went down to the breakfast hall with my well behaved service dog to eat before I hit the road again and was told I was not allowed to have her with me. I informed the woman at the counter that she's my service animal and she still told me I couldn't have her with me breaking Titles II and III of the Americans with Disability Act. This caused me stress and anxiety so I ended up just leaving and having a panic attack outside in the cold. Staff needs to be informed of the law. Terrible experience. My dog was also inside her locker carrier silent the entire time. Won't be returning. read more

Stayed here for a night. Clean motel. Nothing over the top but property seemed pretty well maintained and the rooms were clean and decent sized. There was a round table in our room with 2 chairs that swiveled and were comfortable to sit on. Refrigerator in our room. Bed was comfortable and bathroom area was large. Toilet and shower were in there own small room and double sinks along with armoire were in there area across from room with shower. Also there was a desk with chair in the room. The motel is about 10 minutes from downtown area and about a block from the freeway read more

Great hotel. All the way around. Super fast check in. Clean room. Great location. I've stayed here several times since 2005 and I've always had a great experience. During non Covid times they have a lovely hot breakfast and nice heater pool and jacuzzi. It's geared towards the Shakespeare Festival which is sweet since it's what Ashland is known for. On this particular visit I had to cancel, last minute, two days ago because 299, 101 and I5 were closed due to winter storms and landslides. I called the hotel first and, even tho I was past the cancellation time, she understood my situation and agreed to cancel no charge. I rescheduled for tonight. She was awesome. So grateful. Poor experience. Front desk person, Ryan, was unpleasant, not just to us, but to other guests, so we didn't take it personally. But really? We were given a room that smokers had obviously occupied. Housekeeping tried to mask the smokiness with heavily perfumed air spray. The room was not as clean as one should expect. The sink drained slowly. The room was outdated. Even though we reserved a pet room in advance, our room was very far from the pet area. The pet area was unkempt, with grass so tall you wouldn't be able to see any poop when you stepped through it. The landscape was weedy and messy. The rooms were not a good value for the money. I could go on and on. Best just to say: we aren't going to stay here again. read more

We stayed at this Best Western a couple of weeks ago. The hotel itself was fine. However, I noticed on my credit card statement that I had been charged twice for a one night stay. The charges were not pending but posted. I thought, no big deal, mistakes happen. My husband called the Best Western to let them know they had accidentally charged us twice. The person he spoke to was rather rude, said they had not charged us twice. My husband said he was looking at our credit card statement and they had and could they please check into it. They said no. It must be a bank error and that was that. I have disputed the duplicate charge with my credit card company. I don't understand a company who can't take the time to double check their records to resolve this. It was very poor customer service. We won't stay there again. read more

We stayed here over the 4th of July holiday and they were extremely busy. The room was nice and spacious and the kids loved the outdoor pool. My only complaint is they need to hire an exterminator to control the ants which were on the property grounds and a few in the room. read more

Where to begin? We are traveling for work, we drive 300 miles to our "reservation ", and are greeted by a sign that says ," so sorry our lobby is closed until 6am. Please call the Holiday Inn Express with any issues." We did. Zoey at the Holiday Inn was ZERO HELP AT ALL. She didn't offer us a room, she had NO NUMBERS TO CALL, and she basically said," I can't do anything goodbye." Would i recommend this hotel? Maybe if you don't need a place to stay, or if you don't mind drug addicts wandering the parking lot with ZERO SUPERVISION, or if you just like spending money and getting nothing for it. Stay anywhere else. Stay on your car and keep driving until Ashland Oregon is in the rearview mirror and they can keep smoking meth to their hearts content. read more

We had trailer emergency on the night of 12/30. Ryan was able to get us a king room and when we arrived, upgraded us to a bigger room so that we could bring in our stuff and dry it out (it rained all day and our bags were in the back of the truck). The room, the bed and pillows, and the breakfast were fantastic! We had to return on 1/2 to get our trailer from the rancher up the road. Maria got us a room closer to the parking lot (our trailer is on three tires). The room was nice, but unfortunately the hot water heater didn't last long enough for a shower. When I checked out and let Maria know, she gave me a credit. The customer service at this location is above excellent. Thank you Ryan and Maira for helping us in an emergency situation! Good news, rancher let us borrow her trailer and we got our horses home on 12/31. read more

I'm updating my review due to the very bad taste their cleaning staff left in my mouth today. If I could, they deserve negative stars. Here's the story. We booked this room for two consecutive nights. Today, when we went out to explore Crater Lake, we returned to find several items missing from our room. One was a missing swimsuit hung up and away in their armoire. Second were all my hair products on the outer sink area. Third, my personal beach towels (also hung up). And fourth, my cooler (put in their mini fridge). Mind you, these items weren't put in places anywhere near the trash or the dirty towel pile (as I indicated above). I have never in all my time staying in a hotel had things disappear from my room. It was incredibly unsettling and frustrating to say the least. In order to retrieve some of my items back, I had to go to the check in office. There, the check-in clerk is like maybe the cleaning staff didn't realize you were staying in the same room two nights in a row and got rid of the stuff. Then he's like, it's never happened before. While he's talking away trying to excuse this and that, I see behind him on the floor my portable cooler. I point it out and say well it looks like it has happened because right behind you in my cooler. Then as he opens the lost and found drawer, I see my beach towels. This is giving me more credence that I'm not making stuff up and that my stuff was truly taken from the room without permission. I ask him to look for my swimsuit, and lo and behold it's in the back with the laundry. Meanwhile, now he's trying to offer a half-fast apology. My hair stuff I just chalk up to a loss and he says they toss such things. He mumbles through some more excuses between apologies as I leave in disgust, sad that I have to stay one more night here. I'm truly disappoint in this hotel and the experience I've had here. I, luckily, never leave anything of value like money or electronics. But to have one's things taken just does not sit well. I've lost all my trust in this establishment and won't be coming back again. If this wasn't my last night here, I'd be booking some place else. read more

Nice location and rooms for a reasonable price. Overall the grounds were clean and well maintained. When we stayed, they had just recently refreshed the room we got. Not all of the finish work was done, but the room was huge and well appointed. The bed was very comfortable as well. The breakfast offered a rotating variety of hot prepared food (eggs, sausages, potatoes) along with the typical DIY waffles (my favorite), fruits and cereals, etc. The prepared items were hit and miss so YMMV depending on the day and your tastes. We had asked for a quiet room both reserving and checking in. When we returned later that evening, a refrigerated semi was parked in the parking lot in front of our room, and the loud engine cycled noisily off and on. Called the front desk and he said he could not ask the driver to move it because "we have to accommodate all our guests." What about those of us who want to sleep? He offered us a different room, but it was 12:30 and we just wanted to sleep, not to move all our things. Asked if we could simply move to a quieter area of the hotel and room to sleep in, which he agreed to. At 1 am we finally caught a few hours of sleep, in a much nicer room with a more comfortable bed. Why didn't they put us there in the first place? Asked for a discount due to noise and poor sleep when we checked out, the manager said no because "they have to clean two rooms now." Terrible customer service here! read more

Another great stay at a decent hotel. From the awesome customer service at the front desk, to the clean hotel, to the price. And yes they allow pets. That rate was only 20.00. I think the proper term for this hotel is professionalism. The front desk employees even have uniforms which suggests to me a sense of pride and detail. I saw that in the room from the way the towels are folded to the well made up bed, and of course the toilet paper triangle. Those would be old school details because that doesn't happen as much these days. My favorite sign of thought out detail was the caulking work done in the bathroom. I know some of you get what I mean by that. I've seen a lot of sloppy work at many hotels but this room was done well. More of that detail and pride thing I've been mentioning. The A/C was easy to operate and quiet even! Oh but wait... flipping fast internet with... secure password! Wow right? And finally free breakfast. And not round patties of scrambled eggs (yep, saw that at another hotel) that represent packaged eggs. They had sausage links vs. patties also. Guess I'm not a fan of patties. The room where you have your breakfast feels a little bit like a restaurant too. They even had strawberry compote to put on your pancakes that you make yourself. As far as taking care of my dog's business, lots of grass and doggie bags with a clean area as well. I'm sounding more and more like I was bribed by the BW folks but seriously, I'm just grateful I found a hotel with these amenities, or let's just say I got more than I paid for at this hotel. read more

Well we got there pretty late, and I was with my kids so our choices were limited. Honestly I was pretty disappointed as I expect a lot more from the best western. They should sell this property. The room stinks like a combination of pee and moldy water that was probably dripping out of the AC unit. Also, the decor looked like it was out of the 15th century castle. The whole unit honestly needed updating, and the carpet definitely needed to be torn out and replaced as I am sure that is where the smell was coming from. Didn't stay for breakfast. read more

This is the other Best Western in Ashland, out by the freeway a couple miles from downtown. Since during theater season it's necessary to make reservations at the Bard's Inn some six months out, you might want to wind up here instead. For the most part it's a decent enough hotel, not difficult to get to. I've been driving in to the Festival, which I don't find difficult. According to some of the reviews here they have a shuttle service, but nobody ever said a word to me about that. The one major problem, and it's a major problem, is that the mattresses are too soft. That is not the case at the Bard's Inn. Consequently I can't sleep here. It may not be a problem for you, but it's a deal-killer for me. read more

Glenn the cat!!! Buffy the cat is on the grounds as well. Really nice rooms with more pillows that you will ever need. My wife's pillow fetish was fulfilled. Clean, updated, comfortable, quiet, and close to the I-5. Pool / hot tub. Great restaurant next door. This will be our regular property when in the area. For the summer of 2019, we elect to take a road trip through the Pacific Northwest. Starting in the Bay Area on an illustrious Saturday morning, we cruised north via I-80, I-505 and I-5, reaching Ashland at the relatively early hour of 4PM. Access into the parking lot was smooth, although it was immediately evident that this place was happening. Our check-in was friendly, complete with a cookie, leaving us enthusiastically chugging our luggage up to the second floor (oddly, this was the only motel during our 12 night odyssey)... I do wish the stairwells had more convenient access - perhaps eliminate a parking space here or there - it does make it awkward when a large vehicle, complete with open doors, is blocking one's path. The room itself was awesome - air conditioning worked its wonders without being too loud, the chairs/bed didn't block anything, and the bathroom was everything one would need - and I do like that the wash basin isn't in the room itself. As it was a warm day (at the end of June, that's what you'd expect), I ventured to the pool. Although I'd realized it'd be a popular destination, it was still a bit daunting to have all those kids splashing about. After awhile things calmed down, and I was able to hear myself think a little bit. Pool's temperature/cleanliness appeared to not be an issue. I also took a quick look at the gym - nothing outlandish, but certainly functional, with water and towels available. The motel doesn't have a place on site for dinner, but there is a diner out front, with a Circle K just a few hundred feet away. More relevant to this beer enthusiast, the Caldera Brewery is a ten minute walk from the motel, which came in handy when I indulged in a flight and then some. While the motel isn't in town, Highway 66 provided a good spot for me to take a nice long jog in the morning. The food for breakfast was adequate, nothing special. I would recommend thinking a little harder about the table setup - it wasn't a place one could eat in peace. Either expand the area where people can eat, or rouse a couple of ill-placed tables. All in all though, the negatives are rather low-leverage. Definitely a decent spot to spend the night. read more

First off, don't try to get a hotel in the Ashland area in the summer - it's Shakespeare Festival time. We did, however, score a last minute room at the Beat Western. The location is good - not great - but there is easy access to the downtown and ample parking. Just off the highway, it shouldn't be confused with the other Best Western motel in Ashland. Once you find it, however, the staff are super nice and very easy to work with. All and all - the general tone of the place is pleasant. A couple of things to note: It is not high end or luxurious. Its more or less a motel. It's comfortable and clean and provides a decent nights sleep. Another thing to consider - They offer a breakfast that's great for the kids, but best skipped for a much better coffee and scone at a nearby coffee joint. Is it the best pace to stay in Ashland? No, but it's clean, comfortable and the staff are great. And, of you can get a non-peak season room rate - it's a good value. read more
