Bestway provided best value all around and was located across street from Pepboy's. I called and went in and got a car in 5 minutes and I was off to work. It turned out the fix was done same day. I called again and they had no issue taking the car back days before the contract ended. And it only took me few minutes to drop off the car. Bestway Rent A Car has been in business on Colorado Blvd in Pasadena, right next to Office Depot, for years. I live nearby, and have rented from them in the past. Always a great price, for a clean vehicle, that runs good. Staff is very friendly, Recently, after I returned the car, I realized at home that I had left a personal item in the car and called them, they had it and saved it for me in the office. After I went back to get my item back, they volunteered to drive me home, so I would not have to walk back home. Super quick and convenient service. They keep their words, no games and tricks! I rented both times at age 18 and 19 with no problem. Although they needed, and fortunately I had: full coverage insurance and a credit card. Only downside is the extra underage driver fee but anywhere does that regardless. Needed a last minute rental due to a family emergency and my vehicle was being worked on mechanically. The staff over at Bestway was phenomenal. Rates were as stated over the phone when I arrived to their office. Mind you I drove 30 miles and when I got there the process was smooth. I'd rather bring my business here any day rather than the big name rental spots that want an arm and a leg in order to rent a vehicle. The vehicle gave no issues. I cannot communicate how poorly this rental company is run. In Summer 2013 I called and even walked in ONE WEEK in advance of the rental I needed to absolutely confirm that they would have the exact model I was interesting in renting. This was one of their featured cars, which was more expensive than the normal Toyota Compact/Midsize/Economy that rental companies usually stick you with. I walked in on the day that I had my rental set up, at the time of reservation, with printed confirmation in my hand and their response was that the car was in Ventura and that they would not be moving the car to Pasadena. If you're not from the LA area, Venura is about 70 miles west. Although clearly I would have said "no," they made absolutely NO offer to replace my rental which I had the printout confirmation in my hand or to have the car there the same afternoon/next day. A woman with her child walked in while this conversation was picking up steam and I was very clear with the associate that Bestway Rent-A-Car should have been named Bestway Not-To-Rent-A-Car as their inability to organize their own fleet and then blame the customer for their incompetence was completely unacceptable and I would rather walk to Long Beach than to ever do business with this rental company, ever again. If you are reading this, Ma'am, I apologize to the woman that had to wait a couple minutes while this was going on. If you are considering renting from this establishment, do your research and price compare. The inconvenience is in no way worth it. I spoke to the rep there. I need a car to go get my new car in Las Vegas from my GFs apartment. My car was broken into. I need to take it for a transmission dealer upgrade and to install an alarm in it. The rep from this Bestway, only has cars for round trips and wants me to bring the car back. I dont know why anyone, would give this place, 5 stars. It may be a good service for local students or locals, who need to get around but not for travelers. They should have a yard in Vegas and at other locations, to drop-off their car, so I could bring my car back. Its obviously a limited, small business service, even though they give you 150 miles free. Everything came out as planned. Upon returning the van, I peeked at the convertible mustang, thought I'd rent it one day. And indeed, I did return for it, and although it wasn't available on the lot that day, they honored me the BMW in its place - which honestly, was even better than the mustang. I rented the BMW for 2 weeks, since my car had been rear ended. Excellent service once again. Then, I did return for the mustang, took it down PCH on a nice cruise. This place is great! They totally saved us when we had a last minute trip from CT to CA back in July. We called them 10:00 the day of, and had a car by 11:00! I was nervous because I'm 19 (too young for most mainstream rentals) and I only had a debit card, not credit. I went to this Bestway based on the 5-star positive reviews on Yelp. The staff was cold and not exactly friendly despite my smiles and positive attitude upon greeting them. They had only two types of cars to choose from: Toyota Corolla or Ford Expedition. I took my business to another rental place nearby and rented a sub 4000mi 2016 Mazda 6 for roughly the same price $175/wk and received very friendly service and lots of smiles. Poor selection, standard customer service. Not sure why there are so many positive reviews for this place. I must have had bad luck I guess.
