From start to finish this company guys are incredible communicators. The initial communication with Monica to get everything set up was great, everything was explained as far as pricing, and there was no surprises at the end.. then the actual moving guys during the day of, Serg, Alex and one other, were very wonderful, string, and enjoyable people! So after calling a few places, and having some concerns that my refrigerators would be too heavy for a two person team, I am so glad I found Next Moving! I want it noted that the next level for quoting was "studio" and i didn't have items for a studio. I didn't move a bed or couch or tv or anything of that nature. No dining furniture. I had so little items that the mover said he could deliver it all BY HIMSELF with one person. That should be a note of how little was being moved. It was never communicated what "a few items" actually means. to me, clothes, boxes, and no major heavy furniture ARE a few items. I don't understand what the $1470 quote with labor is for if not for the items I had. THIS is the misleading part and quite frankly, I feel taken advantage of. My other grievances were not addressed. It has taken me eight months to write this review. Why? Well, I moved, which is why I'm reviewing movers, and I've been busy.. But I needed to drop this note, because it's well deserved, and better late than never. Right? This move is a little different in that Next Moving loaded our things into a truck, drove about 30 minutes, and then unloaded that truck into a POD. If you aren't familiar, PODs are huge metal containers where you can ship stuff, store stuff, or both. Usually the POD is dropped off at your house, but we had no room for it, and so had to bring our things to the POD facility. We were moving from Los Angeles to Chicago, and when I booked the POD, I really wasn't sure how much space we'd need. So, I scheduled a huge POD and then a smaller one too, because I was pretty sure we were going to run over. The lead from Next Moving was Alex, and his team was all business. Loaded up the truck, everything safe and sound, and they moved quickly because I explained that the PODs facility was only open until 6PM. When we pulled up and I saw our units, I started to wonder if one big POD and one small would be enough. We had so much shit we were dragging with us, and that was even without all the furniture we tossed from smoke damage during the Eaton Canyon wildfire. PODs are pretty affordable.. unless you move them long distances. Really it's the shipping cost that gets you. So, between the two PODS, we were already somewhere around $9,000, with the small one sitting at like $3,500, and I was starting to stress that we'd need even more. Alex and crew got to work. They stacked boxes and everything else into the big POD like they'd done it a million times. Alex directing the flow, using every inch of space from floor to ceiling. Tetris mastery. We're like 85% done, and Alex says to me, "I think we can get it all in this big one..." NO WAY. They kept going, and as they got close, I offered to throw away two bookshelves to make it all fit in one. Alex said he didn't think it would be necessary, and in went the bookshelves. At 5:55 PM, five minutes before the PODs facility closed, Alex pulled the metal door down on our single POD, fitting everything in that single metal box. I tell you, he used every inch of that thing, and because of his stellar attention to detail, I was able to cancel our smaller POD, saving us $3,500. That POD went some 3,000 miles by train over the next few days, and when we finally popped it open about 45 days from when it was packed, everything was perfect. Nothing shifted, nothing broken, it was amazing. A huge TV, a Peloton, standing mirrors, all kinds of things could have gotten trashed. But all was well, thanks to the skill and focus of Alex and his team. Incredible work, gents. Incredible. Alex could have taken it easy and used the two PODs because hey, they were right there and I said to use them. But he took it on himself to help me and my family, saved us a pile of cash, on a super tight timeline, and for that, we are extremely grateful. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. If you value transparency or your time, do not book this company. This company is deceptive and unprofessional. I booked several days in advance with a confirmed 8:30-9:30 a.m. arrival window in writing. They required me to be on site, so I arrived an hour early to make sure I was there. When no one showed up or contacted me, I reached out at 8:28 a.m. At 8:35 a.m., the company emailed saying they'd be about an hour late. I immediately said this was unacceptable and asked about compensation. They ignored that and later told me to pay first and maybe they'd address it later. The movers didn't arrive until around 10:30 a.m., meaning I waited from about 7:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. with no accountability. Afterward, the company falsely claimed a foreman had contacted me. That never happened. No call, no text, no voicemail. Pricing followed the same pattern. I paid a $99 deposit, and only after paying did an extra $97 "California/destination" fee appear, which was not disclosed upfront. The movers themselves were polite and professional, and I tipped them. The problem is the company's bait-and-switch pricing, missed arrival window, and refusal to take responsibility. The arrival time for a move is up to the customer; who on earth spends nearly $500 for a company to show up when they feel like it! I let it go at first, but it made me question the professionalism of that particular mover. He wasn't wearing a company t-shirt, which made it feel like he was just picked up off the street. There was zero communication from the team. No one asked what went in the apartment, what stayed in the garage, or where anything belonged. That's unacceptable for a professional moving company. The bathroom issue: yes, someone gave him permission the first time, and he put the seat down -- fine. But using it again without asking and leaving the seat up is just disrespectful and unprofessional. As for the plant that was thrown away, your refusal to even offer an apology or reimbursement speaks volumes about how little this company values customer satisfaction. You also blamed me for not inspecting every single item during a stressful, fast-moving relocation -- how could we realistically inspect 500+ items in the middle of a move? I spoke to your office multiple times during the move, and my concerns weren't taken seriously. On the 30th, which was my last day to get things out of my apartment, I requested contact with Next around noon and they accommodated me with an appointment within hours, squeezing me in just before the day ended & saving me! They asked me what I needed done, which was breaking down 3 beds altogether, moving them and setting one back up, along with some boxes. 2 movers worked quickly, professionally and under the time limit. Next was super responsive when it came to booking, understanding the amount of items we had for the move, and answering/addressing the million questions and concerns I had. During the set up, I had mentioned to Stacey our building's restrictions on times and she was able to work with what we were given. The movers were scheduled to arrive between the 8:30-9:30am window and they arrived at 8:35am! Because the elevators weren't being held for us until 10am, two of the three movers were quick to start loading our boxes and another stayed behind to pack away our hung clothing items and shrink wrap our furniture. Everything was wrapped so well and they really made sure our items were protected. The unloading process was super quick and the guys were really good about following the labels on each box. Unfortunately two of our boxes got dropped in the process, but luckily nothing was broken. The mover was very apologetic about it and made sure we checked for damages. As it was our first time using professional movers, I'd say this went beyond what we were expecting. There were little to no damages to the home and the team moved all of our items with care and caution. Great guys and great company to work with. I really appreciated the communication and then the process of moving. The three movers worked as a team to get the more difficult things moved. I asked them to throw some furniture away to the trash bins, and they left them outside of the bins (I think they were taking a cue from a couch that was sitting out of the bins) instead of inside. Some of the smaller pieces could have gone in the bins. I had to throw them in later because my apartment would have charged for disposal of the items that were not technically in the trash. Anyway, I guess not their fault. I probably could have asked them to toss the items inside the trash bins instead of doing it myself. They took a lunch break before meeting me at my place to unload the boxes. They did a really good job and were very careful with heavier furniture up the stairs. Some boxes ended up in the living room that were marked for the bedroom, but I don't think the gentleman who unloaded those knew much English. I noticed the other two translating for him so maybe he just didn't realize they were marked for the bedroom. All in all, it was a good experience. This business is a scam. Please read and look at photos/videos before you book! This company runs off of bait and switching their customers. I originally went with this company because they didn't have a bunch of random fees and they seemed the most straight forward. Boy, was I wrong! Everyone else was just up front about their fees, unlike Next Moving! When you initially book - the communication included NOTHING of fees for heavy items ($80+ for a washer), $55 service surcharge until AFTER you book/pay the deposit (embedded in the booking contract in FINE PRINT). I even spoke to a salesman (Brad) that didn't disclose any of this. He even went as far as to double confirm verbally that we wouldn't pay ANY extra for moving a washer/dryer. On the day of the move, 2 hrs prior to their scheduled arrival time, the office called me saying that we needed a 3 person crew instead of 2. So our hourly rate now would go from $129 to $165. They went back to their supervisor on this and nothing ended up budging. The movers were the most careless as well that I've ever dealt with. They slammed down our dresser and massage chair enough to gouge our flooring and break a piece off of our massage chair (pictures for proof). There was only one guy of the 3 movers that was responsive whilst the other two looked like they hated life. When they were done with the move, one of the guys saw that we had a leaf blower in our garage and asked if he could use it. Turns out they wanted to blow out ALL their trash from the inside of their truck onto our street! Wth? Oh, but first, he played with it like it was a toy gun making machine gun noises. Their nonchalant attitude when this was brought to their attention is just a testament to their service. I couldn't even talk fast enough before getting cut off and felt like I needed to hurry so they could get off the phone with me. I was given a "5% loyalty discount" on my next move (which I'm sure everyone gets). Yeah right. Bottom line - be wary of a business that requires a deposit because then they basically have you. When all the fees came up, we would've backed out if we didn't have the deposit on the line. These people trap you with it and lock you in, making it impossible for you to say no.
