The prices are cheap, and you get what you pay for. I had the turkey platter which came with the thinnest slices of dried out turkey I have ever had in my like. The stuffing lookedand tasted like it had sat on a steamer tray for 12 hours. My vegetables were boiled beyond being able to recognize what they were. The salad bar sucks. Mostly iceberg lettuce, cherry tomatoes that aren't even ripe and soups that looked like they came out of a can. It is horrible! Really hate going there, but we go to visit a relative in the area who refuses to eat anywhere else. Next time I'll just get a coffee and hit a Burger King drive-thru on the way home. read more

Welp, Yelp. Lets add this place to the FOREVER SKIPPING THIS PLACE list. Went here at 11am on a Sunday with 3 friends. Place was packed and not the cleanest diner I've been to. Lighting was bright, tables and chairs depserately needed upgrade / replacement. 3 of the 4 coffee mugs on our table were chipped/cracked. Coffee was bitter and not at all tasty --- typically diners have fantab coffee..Nope, not at this diner. Waitress was prompt and efficient and polite.The service was average -- nothing too special. The food just simply wasn't too appealing to the human eye. The french toast looks frozen and warmed up (not fresh made), the BLT and Turkey Bacon Club (for 8 dollars each??) were small and not totally loaded with anything special. SKimpy on the mayo and BACON! ANd once we got to the Bacon, it was cold and grubby. Oh gross dude ! We were not pleased! FRENCH FRIES WERE ABOVE AVERAGE ! THIS HAS ADDED A STAR TO THIS 1 STAR REVIEW. Eggs and corn beef hash were lacking flavor, portion size and overall visual appeal. I get it, its a diner, but try to make the food look palatable. Prices were high overall! Ketchup bottles on table were sticky and empty! Syrup bottle was all messy and sticky as well - no label on the bottle, you can totally tell that it MUST BE GENERIC. Waitresses attempted to rush us from our table at the end of our meal. It felt cold and unnecessary for her to rush us. I've never been a fan of diners, ever. And this was another reminder of why! Reading the other reviews, makes me wonder if there are TWO Bethlehem diners, and I keep visiting the "bad" one. Been there twice in March (late night, and Sunday breakfast) and both times thought "oh!" when I saw the food. Agree fully with DC C -- tiny portions, poor poor quality. Limited selection, compared to other Greek diners. The cook managed to render the typical diner staple of eggs & sausage completely unappetizing. Did someone say "salad bar?" It's more like a canned vegetable and old iceberg lettuce bar -- far from interesting. In this case, "Greek family run" does NOT equal good food. I went here once late night with some friends a few years ago. A couple of us got cheeseburgers and fries. Diners can't ruin burgers right? Well, this place was the first to show me that they can. The burger was tiny and mediocre. The fries sucked. This was supposed to be a regular burger and fries - instead, it looked like something from the kids menu. I would normally advocate going to local diners over chain restaurants, but in this case, go to the nearby Denny's, Red Robin, or Friendly's instead. They offer three choices of soups, rolls & butter, plenty of iceburg lettuce, shredded carrots & cheese, tomatoes, radishes, sprouts, olives, broccoli, cauliflower, onions, three-bean mix, garbanzo beans/chickpeas, beets, fruit medly, apple sauce & butter, coleslaw, potato & mac salad, dressings, & salad toppers. If s&s isn't your thing, but you're not sure what you want to eat, then check out the rest of the menu. Their menu is big, offering a variety of diner-equivalent American, Italian, Mexican & Greek food. The place is owned & ran by a Greek family, so the Greek food is your best bet for above-par diner eats. The rest of the food is just so-so. They have plenty of dinner & Senior specials & lots-o-pies & cakes to choose from for dessert. Excellent food. Fresh! Served quickly. Excellent waitress!!! Full menu of just about anything you'd like. Could even order off the lunch menu for breakfast. They even had salsa for eggs! Pie to go was an added plus. Definitely worth the trip and a return visit! read more

This place is a solid diner, but it lacks some features that would really help it be super. In particular, it would benefit considerably from a really solid salad bar. The salad bar is currently pretty bad, and the small selection of items is rather depressing. If it was significantly expanded to a wider range of veggies it would be a big plus on the rest of this nice diner. Having the sad salad bar is actually a big negative on the place, because it makes the rest of this nice diner seem cheap and bad. By comparison, I'd have a look at Coach House Diner in Hackensack NJ. now that is a solid salad bar, and it makes the whole diner seem so much better, even though the quality of the food between the two restaurants is basically the same. Having a better salad bar allows the diner to charge more for each dish even if the dish doesn't include the salad bar, because the whole restaurant seems classier and less like a cheap diner. The building could benefit from a renovation too, but that is a secondary thing. read more

So far so good! The place is right by Denny's across from shopping center. I enjoyed my turkey sandwich, really has that homemade feeling to it and the turkey meat wasn't dry at all. As for the coleslaw it was heavenly, not heavy on the mayo and it just melted in my mouth. The waitress was very attentive with a great attitude. Well the service was very good because Amy G was very honest. Also very friendly. There was no one in the place. The salad bar was lame and looked like it sat untouched for hours. Food ingredients weren't fresh. Example: Chicken parm was made with frozen chicken patties. If your from North Jersey or around the original diner areas, this is not the place for you. Trust me. I'll start off by saying I do like this diner and I've been consistently coming here for a while. The food is pretty good. It's nothing spectacular but it's good and enjoyable. (Not talking about their chocolate covered strawberries, those are out of this world!) As far as service goes it usually meets expectations. Great food great prices. Less than $10 for the dinner. We had the crab stuffed baked halibut on the senior dinner which included soup & salad bar, "starch,"and beverage. Rolls with the salad bar is made in house and you need to eat just a bit of it so that you have room for the salad and main course. Lobster Bisque Soup was very tasty, though we couldn't find much lobster (what do you expect for less than $10?) Halibut baked just right, tender, and good crab filling. Although I ordered a coffee and a muffin and still had the menu, the waitress starting making sotto voce comments about people staying too long, turning off the wifi etc. Finally she came up to me and asked is someone else really coming? I asked her if there's a time limit and she said "no, but we're busy" Busy serving a purely white crowd, although not people enough to fill up all the tables. As the only non-white person in the place I have to wonder if they had a problem with me in particular. We were traveling with the in-laws and my FIL was raving about the Bethlehem Diner. He said they always eat there when they're in the area and that the food was fantastic. He told me there wasn't a bad thing on the menu. As you can see from the the amount of stars above, I have a different opinion. I asked my daughter how the food was and she said, "It's sort of okay, I guess." She didn't seem particularly thrilled about going there, but I thought it was just her being fussy. (She refuses to eat at anything considered 'fast food', for example.) Turns out she was right. I wasn't expecting anything super modern, but the decor is run down and straight out of 1983. Even though it was the middle of lunch time, it wasn't busy at all. I noticed the carpet desperately needed to be cleaned, which kind of grossed me out. We were seated right away, and our waitress was friendly enough. I ordered sweet Italian sausage & pepper sandwich, my husband ordered a gyro, my daughter ordered the meatloaf and mashed potatoes, and the in-laws both ordered chicken parmesan. My father-in-law said they were usually super quick, but our order took forever to come. We were in a hurry so it was a problem. My order came with soup, but it was taking so long I decided to go up and get it from the salad bar. I also helped myself to potato and macaroni salad, which I'm glad I did, because they were both fairly good and the best part of my meal. The soup was not bad too, but it was supposed to have beef in it and I could find none in the pot. When my meal came, to say I was disappointed was an understatement. My sandwich came with a huge sub roll that was extremely stale. There were two small pieces of sausage in it, three pieces of pepper and about a tablespoon of marinara sauce, all which was ice cold. It came with a tiny cup of cole slaw that was not the greatest. Luckily, the french fries were pretty good--but you can get good fries anywhere. My husband liked his gyro and the in-laws enjoyed their chicken parm--but my daughter was severely disappointed in her meatloaf. I didn't try any but it looked disgusting. She got three tiny pieces and she told me it was dried out and tasted old. She said the potatoes were definitely instant because she could taste the powder. The last straw was when she was going to take a bite of the orange slice that came with the meal and she saw a white worm/larva/maggot wriggling in it! I told her not to eat another bite of anything. I didn't eat anything after that either because my appetite was ruined. I probably would have given the restaurant two stars, but seeing bugs in food is a huge no-no to me, so I'm giving this place one star. If we're ever in the area again, I'm definitely going to be talking my FIL out of taking us here again. read more

Soooo....in Allentown for business for a week looking for a good breakfast location, I found Bethlehem Diner. I saw a few reviews that were less than stellar but I thought how bad can a diner be for breakfast? I soon found out. The food was average but delivered cold. When I tried to get the attention of a group of waitresses leaning against wall next to kitchen, one yelled across the room "I'm not your server. I continued to wave and she repeated "I'm not your server ". Nobody bothered to approach our table to find out out what we needed. Eventually, our server showed up and helped addressed the issues. Ten minutes later the "not your server " comes and confronted us saying I thought you wanted your check and didn't seem to grasp how rude and embarrassing her behavior was. Never again. read more

So we came here about 7 o'clock in the evening and they had maybe 10 tables filled. We came to the diner because we wanted to eat breakfast and it turns out that at this particular diner they only serve breakfast till 11am unlike most other diners who serve breakfast all day long. So that was our first disappointment, but alas we were exhausted and hungry so we stayed. My wife and daughter both got the salad bar and a sandwich and I got a patty melt. The salad bar was so so, some of the things were clearly old and not fresh at all. A lot of toppings or canned products has a tin metal taste and they had only 4 dressings all weren't labeled so it was a guessing game on the 3 vinaigrettes and then a ranch. Neither my wife or daughter ate more than 2-3 bites of their salad before they were sickened by the taste. Both of their sandwiches were edible and that was it barley edible food. I asked for my patty melt with extra onions, extra cheese, and cooked medium. I got 5 onions, some cheese, bread that was going stale and a very over cooked burger. We will not be back ever. read more
