We had a celebratory graduation dinner at 1741 Terrace for a party of eight. We started out by ordering drinks. One of the drink orders was wrong. Bread is supposed to be placed on the table. All the other tables had it. We had to ask for it. The server had not cleared the plates from the table before giving us the desert menu. We had to ask for the plates to be cleared. We ordered a chocolate cake. We received a chocolate mousse. The server should know the difference. The little things make a difference. Attention to detail at a fine dining establishment matters, otherwise its not fine dining because the experience goes beyond the food. On top of all of that, the restaurant had the gall to add a 20% tip. A 20% tip assumes that the service was flawless. The service at 1741 Terrace was anything but. What ever happened to service? There's no pride in it anymore. It's become so common for servers to expect a tip without doing the work. I know that is a generalization, but it seems to be the rule rather than the exception in my experience. If you're looking for a place with great food but want to leave with a bad taste in your mouth, 1741 Terrace is your place.
