Strip steak
Craig S.

The atmosphere at the hotel is why they earned 4 stars. The food was good but nothing that would make me seek it out again. The service was good and the hotel was very cool. What a neat historic place. I had the strip steak and salad and it was good.

The Hotel Bethlehem is a Bethlehem staple and the dining in the 1741 Terrace is wonderful. If you're able to, ask for a seat by the window which overlooks Main Street. It's a great view and perfect for people watching. Our sever Bob is a veteran and kindly explained the menu and even shared where ingredients came from which is nice. Sunday-Thursday in addition to the regular a la carte menu they feature a $45 3 course fixed price menu which comes with an appetizer, entree and dessert. You can also add a wine pairing to that for $20. My mom and ordered off the fixed price menu and the portion sizes were perfect for us. I started with the roasted carrots which also featured snap peas, it was excellent. My mom had the citrus salad which was refreshing. For my entree I had the 4oz filet which was served with mushrooms and gratin potatoes, my steak was a perfect medium rare and absolutely delicious. My mom had the swordfish which had a nice mango salsa and roasted veggies it was also delicious. My stepdad opted for the strip steak off the a la carte menu and his steak was also cooked to perfection. Our creme brûlée and chocolate lava cake with a blueberry sauce and coconut ice cream topped off the evening. From start to finish everything about our meal was outstanding. Our water glasses were always full, plates cleared efficiently and friendly service. Of course if you've never been to the Hotel Bethlehem before be sure to take yourself on a tour, check out the two room for a cocktail, take in the gift shop, the ballrooms and even the bathrooms are fancy with fresh flowers.

Phenomenal lobster roll
Joshua J.

An amazing lobster roll. Highly recommend. We sat outside and lived life in a clean and safe environment with a friendly and professional staff. Great experience every time i go. For luxury with others is the bees knees.

Salmon

Was very pleasantly surprised by the food and class of this place. Service was great. Flavors and pairings were very nice. They were out of a lot of ice creams though. Lovely Christmas dinner.

Great food and service. Steak was amazing. Our young waiter was friendly and knowledgeable. We'll be back.

We enjoyed our time in Bethlehem and ended a fun couple of days with a fantastic meal at Apollo…read moreGrill We started with tuna tartare which was delicious and interesting because it was served with watermelon. For the main course my husband had the short rib and I had the duck breast. Both dishes were delicious and I requested the cauliflower grits for a side and they were fabulous . I also had a basil cucumber martini which was great too. Our waitress was lovely and we had a great experience. We also got lucky bc we stopped in to make a reservation and they were fully booked. While my husband stood there asking a question, someone cancelled and we got in. Not to miss if visiting Bethlehem, PA!

It was a rainey day so I was hoping they weren't too busy. We lucked up with a Park Mobile space right in front of the restaurant! :) We were immediately greeted and taken to a table upon entrance. The spot is cozy and open and we were able to carry on a private conversation across the table from each other even with other diners close by. Our waitress was wonderful and I wish I could have remembered her name. She was engaging, informative and provided professional, friendly service. It was Summer restaurant week but we opted for à la carte and ordered from the appetizer and sandwich sections. I opted for the Blacked Chicken Quesadillas. The chicken was so juicy and flavorful and complicated all the other normal quesadilla ingredients. We shared the perfectly GBD fried cauliflower and opted for the buffalo sauce. Great choice. My niece chose the Roasted Turkey & Brie sans the bacon. She said they use real oven roasted turkey and not deli slices and enjoyed it immensely. We both took half our orders to go. I would definitely return when we are in town because I saw several other menu options I want to try.

3 times and 3 hits entirely out of the park…read more On our recent visit we were seated at some what of a community table which initially we weren't thrilled about but how they have it set up it truly feels like you're alone at the table, it helped that the other couple was a delight. We ordered the Caesar salad (phenomenal) The steak tartare, just divine perfection The waitress heard me talking about the sweat breads from the chicken dish (that I wasn't ordering, I'll explain shortly) and said the chef could do them as a side dish, DELICIOUS!!! My husband got the world's largest most delicious pork chop. Now, my meal. I ordered the halibut and recognized that perhaps it wasn't for me, but I ordered it it was my choice I wasn't going to send it back. Our waitress took note that I wasn't eating and told me that simply would not do and hustled to the kitchen to come out with the chicken dish, I was so appreciative of her noticing and accommodating this, truly, amazing service and that chicken was succulent beyond words! We also got 3 of the desserts, the seasonal eggnog bread pudding, the cinnamon raisin bread pudding which was insanely delicious as I personally am not a huge bread pudding fan but if every bread pudding was this? That would be my go to! And of course the butterscotch pudding which better never leave the menu because it is lick your plate delicious!!! I also enjoyed a hot cocktail which on a cold night was heavenly. Bolete is such an incredible culinary journey that we specifically go there from our home state because we know it will always be inviting, delicious and warm with heart and soul from the chef and staff.

A once cozy and romantic atmosphere, is now a crowded, loud dining room. I had made a reservation on Resy (as per Bolete's website) and requested an upstairs table. In the notes, I mentioned our anniversary, and that we were looking forward to a cozy table to celebrate. Unfortunately, we were seated in the middle of two other parties, whom were both facing us. The lighting was contemporary, and kept brightening then dimming, repeatedly throughout the evening. There was little to no decor, I'm assuming that was removed to fit the volume of tables. The food was as delicious, as I had remembered. However, my husband ordered the ribeye, and was told they were out of steak, but that the pork chop was a delicious second choice. Sorry...a pork chop is not comparable to a steak. An appetizer we chose was also no longer available. Perhaps if Bolete had stuck with quality over quantity, they would not have run out of our first choice options? For our few, and far between date nights these days, the overall experience was a disappointment.

Unfortunately, there was a strong cold draft at floor level, leaving our feet uncomfortably cold throughout the meal. The hostess was sweet and greeted us with a smile. The food service was unremarkable. Our waiter was not particularly friendly nor personable. The drinks were a weak start. The red sangria was poor. The bourbon cocktail was an odd mix of bourbon, apple cider, and other elements--an awkward, Frankenstein-style whiskey sour that simply didn't work. Worst of all, both drinks were served in thin plastic cups, which immediately cheapened the entire experience. I ordered the falafel sandwich and specifically requested a toasted bun. It arrived not just room temperature, but cold. I sent it back, and it returned burning hot... the bottom soggy... literally too hot to pick up... with no browning or color change, clearly microwaved. Microwaving is not toasting. At that point, the sandwich was inedible. I removed the bun entirely and ate just the falafel, which was dry and largely tasteless. At this point I knew coming back to this restaurant was a mistake. Food timing was another issue. The dishes took roughly 45 minutes to arrive after the drinks, possibly longer. We were all getting annoyed and what started out well when we first walked in turned negative. I wasn't impressed on my first visit years ago... and this second visit confirmed it. Between the poor drinks, cheap plastic cups, ridiculously long wait (with no explanation nor apology), and careless food execution, there's no reason to return.
