Size & Value 3/5. Massive 1/2 rack of Carolina gold bbq ribs with a slice of cornbread, coleslaw and buttery mash potatoes. The ribs were huge but most of it was pretty greasy and inedible fat to be honest. Could have used more sauce, good seasoning though. Excellent buttery mashed potatoes. Good coleslaw (I usually don't finish coleslaw and I did ). Good size slice of cornbread but it is not overly sweet, I like it sweeter or served with honey.

Worden State Park on a recent sunny afternoon, after having spent the previous four days camped along the Olympic coast near Joyce. We were also particularly thrilled to see a sign for "live music" starting in just a few hours! We got our campsite set up, enjoyed a little afternoon snack, then headed down to Taps on our bikes. This former guardhouse is perched near the Fort's entrance, and there are even some of the original jail cells inside (yes, you can sit inside of them if you dare)! Even though it was a weekday afternoon, the place was packed inside and out. Lucky us, we managed to snag the last table in the beer garden. I sat down while the dude went inside to order (sadly, they don't offer table service). The band had just stepped offstage for a break, so I enjoyed a little people watching (and tried to ignore the chilly sea breeze) while I waited for Dude to return with my beer. The wait stretched into over 30 minutes until he finally returned, reporting a rather large line (and only one bartender) inside. The beers were also $9/each. But hey, we were on vacation. You kinda expect these things, I guess. Finally, the band returned and played some pretty great music. We finished our beers and now it was my turn to head inside to the slow-as-molasses bar line. By now, there were two people working the counter, although only one of them seemed to be actually pouring beers, making cocktails, etc for those of us in the beer line. The other one was mostly focused on the 3-4 customers who had been lucky enough to snag seats (and, apparently, premium service) directly at the bar. There was a lot of mumbling in the line about how slow and inefficient it all was. However, as (quite literally) the only game in town, we all pretty much had no choice but to either wait for our beers, or slump back to our campsites for Rainiers. Luckily, by the time I returned with our second round, Dude had scored a sunny table closer to the band, so it was starting to feel like summer again. In fact, we were having such a lovely time that Dude decided we may as well enjoy another round (hey we weren't driving). $60 of beers later, we drifted back to the campsite after what was a pretty enjoyable, if not at times frustratingly slow, experience. We also returned a few days later for another show, and they seemed much better staffed. Perhaps our experience the first night was not common.

I would even go as far as saying it's the best lamb shank you can find in Washington. It's so wonderfully prepared. Falling of the bone in its own juices - to die for. As far as I can tell, Alchemy stands out in Port Townsend with its cozy amiance, and the service is great as well. PS: I no longer see the offensive item of my last review on the menu.

Not a surprise given the price of halibut. Fish good. Real light batter & yet crispy. Coleslaw almost non-existant as it came in the same sized little plastic cup as the tartar sauce. I have to give the tartar sauce a hard pass. It was mostly mayonnaise. I don't use sauce on fish, ever. But it wasn't even good enough to dip the fries in. I dug out the homemade tartar sauce from yesterday's lunch to eat with Sea J's fries. Since I usually avoid dairy I didn't even consider the shakes, but while I was there were 2 to go orders consisting only of shakes. Must be the go to place in town for handmade milkshakes.

We had buffalo wings, mozzarella sticks, hot turkey sandwich, fish and chips, and clam strips. Dessert is not to be missed, we enjoyed peanut butter pie, berry cobbler, and carrot cake. Apparently they don't stock any white...I can see where it might not be a big draw, but hey, just buy a BOX of it, keep it in the fridge and someone will order it in the 30 days the box holds its freshness. Second big ding: NO darker, heartier beer than lagers and IPAs. Not even an Alaskan Amber in a bottle. I guess if the guests don't drink it, then why order it. We probably won't come back except for when the Badd Doggs Blues Society plays, but couldn't we BRING in what we want to drink and pay a corkage? Or do we have to go out in the parking lot and sneak a shot? I really WANT to support this place, but, as of now, except for the tots, I'm not sure what I'd come here for. And that's not enough.
