Three weeks ago, I had a full eye examination with Dr. Wise, an ophthalmologist (MD) in Florida. Since I have worn glasses since high school, all I needed at this visit was a new prescription after losing my glasses. Last year, I also had a full exam at LensCrafters in Aventura, where the front desk clearly explained all costs and insurance coverage before my appointment. That visit was handled transparently and professionally. At MyEyeDr, however, the front desk did not explain what my insurance would or would not cover. During my appointment, a technician took retinal images without informing me that this would result in a $44 charge. I should have been told in advance and given the choice to decline. In addition, I was charged $140 for a contact lens fitting that was never discussed with me beforehand. The optometrist attempted multifocal lenses, which did not work for me. I was the one who had to suggest the lens setup I normally use (one lens for distance), and only then did he agree it would work. This left me feeling the fitting was unnecessary and not worth the fee. At checkout, I was presented with a bill of $640 that included these undisclosed charges. I was not prepared for such an amount and chose not to proceed with the purchase. The interaction with the sales associate afterward was uncomfortable and unprofessional. Because I was not informed of these additional services or fees beforehand, I am requesting a refund of the $44 retinal image fee and the $140 contact lens fitting fee. I believe this is a fair resolution given the lack of transparency and communication at my appointment. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. It's either they are doing pretty good business, or weekend spots are hard to get. However, we find it very easy to check in when we arrived. The staff was pretty friendly and checked us in pretty quick without any delays. Maybe it has something to do with our appointment being at 10am. Nevertheless, the staff did their job. Surprisingly, the doctor was able to see us at about 10:05am, which is remarkable! She was pretty friendly and helpful, answered all the questions my wife and I had. And really took her time to examine us. I was afraid my vision is going out of whack as I get older. Luckily it hasn't gone worse since my last eye exam so I don't require new prescription glasses at this time. My wife's vision is still pretty good, but she got a new pair of reading glasses to help her with reading magazines and newspapers. And they are easy to deal with on insurance too. The staff explained to us about our co-pays and helped my wife with a pair of reading glasses that fits her perfectly. We only paid $15.00 out of pocket for them which is cool. I'd definitely recommend anyone looking for an eye doctor to see Dr. Chen.

I have been a patient of Dr. Wolfe for about eight years now. It started when I went to an…read moreoptometrist for a regular eye exam. She told me I had closed angles which I had never heard of. She told me she could not see me and referred me to the an ophthalmologist. That opthamologist gave me the same diagnosis. I was not happy with his bedside manner. Besides that, I wanted another opinion from an opthamologist. So, I ended up seeing Dr. Wolfe. He diagnosed the same thing. He suggested that I have an LPI surgery. I had 20/20 vision but this is something that is not detectable by me, did not affect my vision. I would have never known about this had I not gone for semi regular eye exams. So make sure you go for your eye exam because you never know. Anyway, Dr. Wolfe did an excellent job of opening my angles. He explained every step of the way to me. He has steady hands and while it was no picnic, it was bearable. And let me tell you....I am a big baby! I don't even like to get blood drawn let alone anything to do with my eyes. I go for yearly check-ups to make sure everything is still okay and hopefully it will continue to be. He's very professional and speaks on a level that I feel comfortable with. Sometimes doctors like to talk in a way that is very sophisticated with their medical terms. I recommend him for a regular exam or hopefully nobody needs a surgery like I did.

I had to go sleep it off as I was not functional in that state.

The staff in the retail section of the store were very friendly and informative. They assisted me with finding out what benefits I had with my insurance and were upfront about processing times and pricing before charging me. Good variety of frames and I loved the designer 50% off section! They could use more than two reps working at a time, it got busy but they did their best and remained friendly and attentive. I made the appt at 3:00 with another meeting at 4:30 figuring never in life would an eye exam take longer than an hour, let alone 90 minutes. Maybe my expectations are a bit too high. Who knows?
