As someone with almost no natural brows, I've thought about permanent makeup before, but always hesitated given my desire for them to look as natural as possible (I definitely did NOT want a thin tattoo line). I did some research on micro blading in nyc and after pouring through before and after pictures on Kendra's Instagram, I was impressed by how she was able to achieve such "natural" results -- enhancing brows but not making them too bold as to detract from other facial features. I wasn't looking for "trendy" brows and was very keen on finding someone who had experience working with clients who have trich. When I spoke with Kendra on the phone I was immediately impressed by her professionalism and how she took the time to explain the process in detail to me and address my concerns. She has an amazing gift to make you immediately feel at ease & comfortable. She's incredibly patient, warm & a true perfectionist as microblading is an art. She was upfront and honest with me that nothing will be as natural as "3D" brows with hair... but I was blown away by the results she achieved for me. The brush strokes all have slightly different depths -- mimicking hair lines throughout the brow... and they're perfectly symmetrical with a slight arch (exactly what I asked for). Additionally, she added a pigment in the background that mimics a "powder" -- which I think makes the brows look even more polished. As far as the pain... for me it felt like "scratching" on my forehead and was slightly uncomfortable at times but never truly painful (and I have a low pain tolerance), but Kendra made sure to check-in with me throughout the process to ensure I was comfortable. I can't wait to go back for my perfecting appointment and maybe even go a little darker on the brows! This review is long overdue but if you're interested in microblading, Kendra is amazing!! I have always had really thin eyebrows and color them in daily so that I don't look like a skeleton. Thankfully I am really good at doing my own eyebrows, but it's hard to keep them looking good if I want to go swimming at the beach, sweat through a gym class or even go to sleep without makeup on. I went in with my eyebrows drawn on so that Kendra would know how I like them and then she took it from there. If you don't know how to do your eyebrows, Kendra is great about asking questions about your desired look and letting you see the shape before actually microblading them on. The procedure itself can be a little painful but she puts numbing cream first that really helps & then cream after to help soothe them. You have a complimentary follow up appointment where you can point to areas that you'd like more fullness or if you want to darken them. From there, it's all about maintenance and following the directions Kendra lays out for you so that they last. I'm posting a photo that shows before, right after the procedure and now 10 months later. I color my eyebrows in now again just because I like them to be as dark as they were right after I got them done, but I would still go out in public without anything on them because they still look great! First of all, I was hesitant to write this review because Kendra was nice but my eyebrows came out terrible and caused me so much distress over the last few months. The first time they were slightly but noticeably uneven and the shape came out weird looking. The second time I got it done it was even more uneven. So for months I've been using concealer and drawing in my eyebrows. Im also considering getting them removed. Also one thing I have noticed is that she doesn't not measure your eyebrows using the proper procedure. I've been watching videos of microblading and the technicians use measurement tools to draw and outline the brows. I don't mean to shit on anyone. But having ugly eyebrows can really ruin your life. I found Kendra by chance. I have been researching this technique since last year. I had settled on another studio, but couldn't remember the name and came across Better Brows during my search. I'm so glad I did! I thoroughly browsed her site and liked what I read so much I decided to send her an email to schedule a consultation. I fully intended to wait a few days, but she got back to me that evening by phone. She proceeded to spend about 15 mins giving me an overview of the procedure. Then she suggested I come in for a consultation, which I did and she spent another 45-60 mins explaining the process and after care. She answered every question I had. She was very patient and thorough in her explanations. During the consultation she kept advising me on what to look for during my search for the best microblading studio to meet my needs. Kendra did an amazing job on my brows! I think I was a particularly tough case - I am fair skinned with very light hair and I have trich so I have done some serious damage on my brows. I was very nervous to have a semi-permanent brow put in place since so much had to be added, but Kedra was incredible patient, kind and asked awesome questions about what I was trying to achieve. She did a good job of giving me her opinion when I asked for it. She made me feel very comfortable with my initial consultation and I thought that was a really helpful part of the process.
