Jacuzzi

Thank you to Scott Edward for going above and beyond to balance my jacuzzi and cold plunge. I appreciated his thoroughness and willingness to work with me.

Scott ordered and installed a chlorine salt generator for our pool. His quote, schedule, and professionalism were all on point. Me and my family will be working with Better and Scott on future pool needs. PS they also installed our pool light - perfect job.

Trying out my jacuzzi with my daughter In Law, and Karma, Grace, and Faith.

My jacuzzi hasn't worked in decades. I used Google and found Scott from BETTER BUY POOL SUPPLY. I knew I had a leak, but didn't know where. Scott came by and we discussed some tree root problems, it lifted up cement and bricks behind the jacuzzi. Well Scott sent his team of men and they started off to work. It took 4 days, but they found the problem. It was tree roots that crushed pipes underneath the jacuzzi. They fixed the problem by replacing the pipes. I am excited to use my jacuzzi, thanks Scott.

Condition of pool after his 2nd visit.

Review updated 10/23 Since posting my review, Scott did reach out to see how we could make it right. I had an outdoor party scheduled and was very concerned I would have to cancel because of the condition of the pool. I told him I needed the work done by a certain date, and he returned on three occasions to ensure everything was up and running before my event. He also helped me complete some rebate paperwork to get some money back on the equipment that was installed. He did apologize and explain some of the delays and prior communication issues, and in the end, completed the job well. My property is rather far from where he usually conducts business, so I assume the distance added to scheduling issues. Without the poor experience on the front end, This would have been a five star review for pricing and quality of work. ------------------------upset that I have to resort to writing this review to hopefully get a response from Scott, and to warn others what they are getting into. After my family having a great experience with him, I decided to use him for my own project as well. On my family's project, he knew what he was doing, stayed well after it was dark to finish the job, and seemed to be an honest and hardworking guy. Fast forward a few months when I decide to call him for my own project. It took me a few weeks to actually get in touch with him, after leaving a few voicemails and texts with no response. That should have been the first red flag. Eventually, he made it out to my property, diagnosed the problem, and gave me a fair estimate on the spot. He said we would need to start work right away to ensure the condition of my pool didn't get any worse. He asked for a deposit to purchase all the necessary equipment, which was 2/3 of the job total. I gave him a check (per his specific request, does not accept card, venmo, or other electronic payment), and said I would see him soon. Week 1 passes, no response or update. Week 2 passes, still no update. Won't answer calls or texts. Week 3 passes, he says that he had trouble finding a part, and will have to drive somewhere to pick it up. Week 4 passes, no responses to texts, until I receive a text saying "I will be there today" saying he will be out to finish the job. Great news. Or so I thought. He messages saying he only completed part of the work, and will have to come back to do the rest. Of course, when I ask when, he doesn't reply. Week 5 passes, says he is planning on coming next week. Week 6 passes, no update or response. Week 7, here I am, still trying my damndest to get an answer as to when this job will be completed. I haven't had a pool to use for the warmest months of the year, and am embarrassed by my swamp green pool that all my guests are graced by. Week 8 will be Friday. He is competent at his trade, but this is bad business.

We had to resurface our fiberglass pool and spa. After getting several proposals, we were impressed by the knowledge and approach of Scott. We are glad that he was the one to perform the job. He was detailed oriented, and performed the job perfectly. If you need such pool job, I definitely recommend Scott and this company.

New pool heater.

We recently bought our house and our neighbor highly recommended Scott for any kind of concerns or maintenance for our pool. Scott was very professional and knowledgeable. He did an amazing job replacing our pool heater. And not only by a good job well done but also their price is very reasonable. Thank you so much. We really appreciate your business. Thank you!

We were looking for a pool heater and Scott showed up to give us our options. He was extremely professional and knowledgeable about giving us what worked best. He installed a new power line and two heat pumps. Scott explained the entire process and communicated with us through every step of the job. He was on time and cleaned up after he finished. We are very happy with the results and would definitely recommend. Thanks for everything.

My pool the day this review was written.

Everything Billy L. said below and more. If only his review had been published when I hired Scott Berggren to resurface my pool in Sept. 2020. I have a very small pool & hot tub. It took Scott 18 weeks to complete a job that was supposed to take 4-5 weeks. About Week 3, I started documenting the progress because I could see things were going sideways. Main issues: - There were gaps of time where no one showed up for 2-4 weeks at a time. Scott's go to excuse was that he was sick. He used this excuse 3x in the course of the project. The thing is, Scott doesn't actually do the work. He's got subcontractors, so his own sickness would have nothing to do with them not being at the job site. -His main subcontractor, who I started communicating with directly due to so many issues, let me know that he was having problems getting paid by Scott. This was for multiple jobs, not just my pool. -I emailed Scott a couple of lien releases for him to sign for the various progress payments I had made. I get an email back from him saying they are attached. Instead of the signed releases, he attached a Settlement Agreement from another customer. I literally have a copy of a lawsuit filed against Scott. -The week after the pool was "finished" in January, water was spurting out of a grout line between the new tile and coping. I come to find out that the pipe which fills the hot tub and then flows into the pool was literally tiled over. The water could not enter the hot tub, so it was finding alternate routes to escape. This happened for a few days before it was noticed by my regular maintenance guy (I was out of town), so there very well could be a sinkhole in that area because not all the water was escaping through the grout lines. I managed to get Scott out to remove/replace some tiles that definitely had water behind them. He (one of his guys really) removed approx. 6 tiles (though about 30 needed removal) and I was told that the area had to dry before the tiles could be replaced. That was about a month ago and he's never returned, which is par for the course. He did respond to a text last week saying he'd be out, but as usual he no one came. Meanwhile, the pool turned green and I had to drain it today, so that my brand new pool can be power washed! I finally hired someone else to finish the tiles and clean the green stained pool. If you've read all this, you're probably wondering why I didn't fire Scott sometime during the process. The reason I didn't was because prior to the resurfacing work, the pool had a leak and I was worried that if I hired someone else and the pool continued to leak, the new contractor would blame it on Scott and vice versa. Upon meeting Scott, he was very professional and got me a quote for my immediately, which was inline with a previous quote. Don't be fooled like I was. He's a shyster that will not complete the service he promises. I'm fairly convinced the 5 star reviews for Better Buy Pools are fake. I've never written a Yelp review like this before, but feel compelled because it was such an absolutely terrible experience. 0 stars would have been given, if Yelp allowed it. Can't wait to see if Scott responds to this review and tries to defend himself. Again, I have week to week documentation of the job and an endless text chain of Scott's pathetic excuses and lies.

I highly recommend Better Buy Pool supply, Scott did a great job, explained the difference for me regarding whether I should do gas pump, electric heat pump or solar. Initially wanted to do solar but due to our roof size and configuration it will be challenging. So we went with the electric heat pump. And we are looking forward to using the pool this summer.

He taught us a lot, helped us narrow down what brand and model we wanted, and what fit within our budget. He had us come in to the store with our swim suits and 'test' a spa that was the same brand and similar model. We've had our Artesian Spa for 8 months now, and we use it at least 3x/week. He's always willing to help us out on the phone, and even helped explain the steps of emptying/refilling the tub/balancing out chlorine/ph levels. I'm assuming not much as changed since we bought ours, but we had to wait around 6-7 months for our spa to be delivered. We got quotes from several pool remodeling companies and Smart Swim came in right in the middle. We are strong believers on "you get what you pay for," and opted to go with them even though they were not the cheapest. From beginning to end, the guys at Smart Swim were easy to work with and truly wanted our project to come out great. After 30 years, it was time for our pool to have a remodel! Through the remodel, it was uncovered that we had many severe leaks, down to the rebar that needed to be fixed in some areas. Sam was great at making sure we understood the severity and that we were okay with any new costs that needed to be added. Not only did they do our pool, but also installed turf by the pool area and put pavers all around the pool and yard area. We also got the new gray gate installed from them as well, to replace the wooden fence in the yard (between the pool). **Noting that the perimeter wall/wooden top was painted black and sanded/stained by a different company. We truly appreciate their hard work and even when we had an immediate death in the family during their time working on our project, they were very respectful and gave us some space as needed.
