For our latest pet Bentley, he had multiple complex issues to include anemia, diabetes and cancer and was recently discharged from a 24/7 veterinary hospital. Rather than let him transition at the hospital we knew we could reach out to Dr. Lisa and request those services within our home. This was more comfortable for him and for us to have the ability to say goodbye in the place he had called home with his family. Saying goodbye to a beloved family member is never easy, but Peaceful Transitions made it as positive an experience as it could be. Our sweet senior dog had been dealing with some health problems, but when we woke up this morning he was unable to walk and was showing signs of neurological issues. When he didn't improve throughout the morning we were about to take him to the emergency vet as his usual vet is closed on Sunday, but then I saw a listing for Peaceful Transitions and we decided to give them a call. They were so incredibly kind on the phone and even though it was a Sunday and they had a full schedule today, they were able to fit us in only a few hours later. They explained the entire process to us over the phone and answered all of our questions, helped us with planning arrangements for after he passed and we were able to pay our invoice easily online before our appointment . Our little guy always got very nervous at the vet, so having someone come out to the house where he could be comfortable and peaceful in his own environment was a blessing. Dr. Matheson was so kind and extremely patient, he examined our little guy, went over our options with us and reviewed the entire process once we were sure we wanted to move forward. They encouraged us to have a special treat for him and a favorite toy, to help distract him while the doctor got him ready. He never could eat bacon normally as it upset his tummy, but he loved it and was so happy to munch on pieces of it while the doctor got prepped for the procedure. We were able to say goodbye to him as he rested peacefully in his own bed surrounded by his favorite toys and blankets and the people who loved him. After the procedure was completed Dr. Matheson stepped out to allow us some time alone to say goodbye, and then made us a nose and paw print and framed them for us. He transferred him into a basket lined with blankets and let us carry him out to the car, to be with him for his final journey. He was so kind and supportive every step of the way, and we are forever grateful to have had this experience. Our hearts are broken over losing our baby, but this is the only way I would ever want to do this again in the future. No rushing to the vet, no fear for our dog in a strange environment, just love and respectful care as we said goodbye. We were also concerned that the price for in-home euthanasia would be too expensive for us, but it actually was in line with what our vet would have charged, and cheaper than the emergency vet. Thank you again to Dr. Matheson and Peaceful Transitions for making what is a stressful and difficult experience as positive as it could be, and for taking such wonderful care of our little guy and us.

So besides needing eye drops for glaucoma and a cataract she required Prednisone. Well we all see these commercials for wonder drugs ( the wonder is why we take them with all the side effects) so even though the Prednisone gave my girl relief it slowly started to effect other systems. Last week in what appeared to be overnight she slowly stopped eating but only drank. That was a red flag. Took her to an emergency facility which was a nightmare. Four hours sitting around waiting for some diagnosis. Every so often someone would come out and give some empty info. Finally a vet came out and provided me with a 3 page plan with an estimate that sent me to the cardiologist. This where Zen Dog comes in. Based on the diagnosis and the plan with no light at the end we felt the best most humane course of action was to euthanize. Spoke with Dr. Ray., he could not have been more understanding and compassionate. He showed up at the house took the time to explain the process. Once comfortable with what was going to happen he started. Dr Ray gave us time to be with her and comfort her until the end. It was a very tough thing to deal with but she went with family around in her home and peacefully. If anyone who reads this is at that point with their beloved pet, Zen Dog is in my opinion a great comforting option

This isn't going to be a short review because the list of things that shouldn't have happened is a…read morelong one. I brought my CeCe for a check up on June 16th because she had been eating poorly, loosing weight and having less energy for a couple of weeks. 11 days later she was gone. Had she received the treatments she needed and none of what she didn't need, she would still be alive today. Before her blood tests results were even known, and confirmed advanced stage of kidney disease, Dr. Ueda had decided to treat my cat with a concoction of an aggressive parasite treatment, and an undisclosed antibiotic - "just in case" - without any symptoms calling for its use. Had I been told about the common side effects of both medications (NexGard Combo and Convenia), I would have never given consent to have either one of them used on my cat. Dr. Ueda failed to obtain an informed consent from me, and under the guise of "making my cat feel better" treated her with two substances that were guaranteed to worsen the very symptoms I came to seek treatment for. Afterwards, when my cat's condition did worsen - she became completely letargic and anorexic - and I couldn't afford the recommended $7000 hospitalization, I asked for home palliative care options. All I was sent away with were subcutaneous fluids, phosphate binder (Epakitin) that was supposed to be given with food, and a transdermal appetite stimulant (Mirataz) that the vet herself admitted wouldn't work. Neither nausea nor pain medication were prescribed, which essentially meant my non-eating cat was left to starve to death. She couldn't eat because the uremic toxins in her body caused extreme nausea and painful ulcers. Yet, at first, I was told she couldn't be nauseous because she wasn't actively vomiting. My request for a pain medication was also denied supposedly because Dr. Ueda didn't notice any ulcers - how could she though, if she never even finished checking my cat's mouth. Later on I was told that these safe liver-metabolized medications (like Cerenia or Buprenorphine), commonly prescribed to cats with kidney disease, couldn't be given to my cat because they would "further strain her compromized kidneys." And that was not only a blatant lie, but it also made for a most ridiculous excuse since two harsh systemic medications that are specifically kidney-metabolized had been administered or dispensed to my cat just a few days prior, without blinking an eye. In reply to my final plea for a pain medication to ease my dying CeCe's suffering, l was rushed (because they were closing soon) to bring her in for a euthanasia estimated at $500-700 even though I explained she was in no condition to be moved. No other options were offered or suggested. Nobody who truly loves animals would have done or let any of this happen. Stay away from this place. These "nice people" are only after your money.
