The food was no better than something you could make at home, it wasn't gross or anything but for the price absolutely not worth the money The endive salad was unimpressive, brown edges and just not very tasty or well executed, the pasta was overcooked for the bolognese and it tasted like something your college roommate made on a Wed night. A lot of black pepper. I ate it, but it was NOT worth $35. Sin liked the lamb, the carpaccio and octopus were meh. read more

This would have been a 4 star rating had it not been for the abysmal service we received. Waited for our food for an hour due to some "issues in the kitchen" but three tables that arrived after us (including a table of 7) all got their food well before us. I should add...this was for breakfast. Two orders of scrambled eggs and an order of pancakes. At one point we were told our food would be out in 10 minutes but we waited another 20. I understand that everywhere on island is understaffed right now and facing challenges due to COVID, but this has nothing to do with either of those factors. Everyone else around us (including those that arrived later) were served promptly. To add insult to , the manager never came and spoke to the table. Apparently they felt comping our drinks (two diet cokes) on a $70 bill was an appropriate resolution to the matter. For an HOUR WAIT for breakfast while all the other tables around us got served and finished their meals??? read more

Was very, very let down with this place. The food and our server were good, but unfortunately overshadowed by everything else. First, we were not sat until ~8:45 for an 8:15 reservation. While waiting to be sat, we had cocktails at the bar. I ordered an espresso martini, which listed Tito's as the standard vodka. Because I was at the bar, I watched the bartender start making the drink with Kettle One. I mentioned it to my partner who was with me, and the bartender overheard and asked if I preferred it with tito's. When I responded that it was listed on the menu, he asked another bartender who said it was definitely not listed. I had to pull out the menu and point to it before they would agree, and I really think they should have known the menu a little better. Really sad that the negatives outweigh the positives, but alas. read more

We had an wonderful experience at the Bettini at the Harbor View. The food was amazing and service was great. We had our wedding dinner at this place and boy they did not disappoint. I want to thank our server Dave who took care of us. My family is still mentioning how they never been attended to in a restaurant how Dave did that night. I want to thank Bettini for the wonderful food, drinks, and service tonight. Everything was amazing. Our server Yoanna was great and ensured my meal was vegan. The food was spectacular! Endive salad, broccolini, and cauliflower steak for myself, mussels app and clam spaghetti for my date. The cocktails were delicious as well, East Island Martini, Vespers, and The Derby were all good. I'll definitely be back. FYI I rarely review anything but tonight was a pleasant surprise in that it went above and beyond my expectations. The view and ambiance were terrific as well. Oh, and I had a 7:30 reservation but we were hungry early after a day of exploring the beach so we came in at 5:30 and asked if they could accommodate us. I understand that we visited this place at the end of the season but should not service be consistent if they want to uphold the reputation? I guess there was a confusion on who picks up unassigned tables? We did not get a water for 25 minutes to even start our dinner... I had to tell another waiter passing by to get someone. Meals, when they arrived were auctioned off as the staff did not know who ordered what... we did not change our seats Then they brought to us someone else's desserts and were confused when we said we did not order. My swordfish that was by the way 48$ was such a small portion that I was hungry leaving this place. The 2 shrimp that garnished the dish were tiny. In summary.. located in a very prestigious hotel, has decent ambiance but overpriced and not consistent! Try other places!! read more

Bettini Is the replacement for Henry's restaurant. They have done an incredible job with the remodel of the hotel and this restaurant! They had their soft opening in the beginning of May 2019. And everything seems to be running smoothly. Excellent new menu with the same beautiful atmosphere overlooking Edgartown Lighthouse. Cons: typical MV mediocre food and ridiculously high prices. You pay for a slice of bread while waiting. The wine list bottoms out at about $50 a bottle. Very attentive hosting staff pleasant and accommodating. Due to the Covid restrictions our party of eight was separated into two tables, they where accommodating to seat us next to each other and adjust the table so we would be able to talk and enjoy the celebration. What was very disappointing was that our orders where taken separately (about 15 minutes apart) And our two parties where then served separately. One would assume that with knowing you are with a group your orders would be placed together you would attended to each table together. The food was a mixed review between the group; Roasted chicken was delicious and cooked to perfection. It could have used a side of rice or potatoes as there was many delicious juices left behind. The Rib Eye of and the cod where superb The lamb was not very flavorful and the potatoes where bland. Our biggest complaint would be the service. Very slow for both apps and main entree to be served. Harbor View Hotel restaurant staff were very professional, friendly, efficient and the service was above reproach. They went out of their way to ensure that I had a great experience. The bartender Nick was amazing creating an atmosphere where you could ask questions about the different liquors that they offer, and customers could freely discuss them. Overall a poor evening at this touted restaurant -- in every way it failed to live up to the hype. Allow me to start... we arrived well in advance of or dinner reservation - we checked in with he host desk upon arrival and were immediately 'told' that our table was not yet ready as we were early -- yes, we arrived early by intention in order to have a pre-dinner cocktail. Not a pleasant welcome. Then it got worse -- we stood at the the bar for a significant amount of time before even getting any type of acknowledgment -- a bartender eventually looked over -- I asked to see a cocktail menu and then received a non-verbal head nod to a menu a couple of spots down -- essentially saying 'get it yourself as I'm busy'. Once ordered the cocktails were average at best. We started with the calamari -- it was really good with very good aioli and spicy marinara sauces. We then had the white clam pasta -- it lacked flavor and the oxtail cassarecce which was was good but served warm not hot. The server in training was more attentive that the trainer - hope they make the transition soon. The maitre'd came by and recognized that thinks were not going well -- empty water glasses and wine glasses -- he stepped up the table service but at this point it was too late. Overall the place is snobby and lacked the ability to provide a fine dinning experience and enjoyable evening. read more

horrible service hvh took our reservation for 11 people for an engagement party over a month before the date. 3 weeks out i called to add 1 additional person. no one ever called back to confirm. after weeks of leaving msgs i called the hotel front desk and alerted them that no one responds. they got someone to call me back. FRANCO the dining mgr would not help he said their max is 8 people therefore he was cancelling my reservation. this is 6 days before my daughters engagement dinner. how courteous and professional is that. beware they are not the gracious harbor view hotel of the past. they do not care and do not want to accept any responsibility for their error. read more

I'm flat out bewildered at this place. This restaurant has every single source to succeed, good food, good appearance and very clean, yet the one problem I had at this place was customer service. My family and I were staying at the Harbor View Hotel (nice stay btw) and having the Bettini restaurant's appearance and convenience we decided to eat at Bettini. And WOW when I walked into that place I thought man this stuff is going to taste great! Though I did run into a problem, while the food was great and all the customer service was slow and a bit unresponsive. The prices also exceeded what was expected, which is fine but it's just a little bit much . We did enjoy our dinner watching Game 4 of the NBA finals (go warriors!) which could be spotted in the front of the restaurant where the TV's were. So everything there was great, but the service. So I would called this place and overpriced average with a rating of 3.5/5, because in my opinion they could have done a lot better if they tried. We did have a nice trip though, and you won't get sick from the good food they have there...maybe just the paycheck. read more

The place is beautiful, inside it out - it's just lovely. The menu is sparse, but we knew that going in and thought there would be some fun specials to supplement what seems like not the most fantastic menu for such a refined place. While it boasted being casual, it has more of an upscale feel to it and the menu doesn't necessarily match. We were seated promptly and professionally. We were greeted almost immediately by two different servers asking about water choice. After that the night sort of fell apart... We ordered drinks, we were then told they didn't have the makings to create a chocolate martini after waiting for about 10 minutes or so. my BFF who's birthday it was, made another choice, said no problem. The drinks took at least another 10minutes to arrive for a wine, beer, and two mixed drinks. No acknowledgment of a ridiculous amount of time to get a drink in your hand. We shared a few appetizers which were just OK, the calamari was nothing spectacular and the other item forgettable. The appetizers were timed well, we did not need to wait super long like we did for everything else. The only thing they were attentive to was our water glasses, we actually had a waive our waiter down two separate times when somebody wanted a second drink. Our dinners took an incredibly long time. When they were served by someone other than our waiter they were sort of raffled off without much attention to detail. At no point did anyone come over and offer fresh pepper, fresh cheese like two in our party were looking for. In fact, no one came over at any point to ask about our dinners and how they were. They were fine, but for the price? They were subpar....the few modifications asked for while we ordered were not followed. We sat with dirty plates that we half full in front of us for at least 30 minutes, there were several host and hostess is buzzing about and no one once stopped by to clear plates, ask how we were doing, nothing. Finally I walked up to the host to ask if we could order drinks outside on the patio. She brushed me off and told me I should speak to our waiter, I politely informed her that we had not seen him in about 45 minutes or so. That is when she told me to go get a seat and they will try to get us some drinks. At that point my husband went to the bar ordered us a drink and tried to get the bill to pay and move on. We were never a offered dessert menu - there was no mention of my friends birthday, there was no mention of the service that we clearly were displeased with, nothing. He also needs to sit there for about 15 minutes to wait for the credit card to come back so that he could sign and meet us outside. When I'm in a beautiful place, expecting to have a beautiful dinner the last thing I want is to be annoyed which is why I typically let a lot go. But This place completely missed the mark, we had dined all over the island over the course of two weeks, and this by far was are most unimpressive meal, yet with the most impressive price tag. What was most annoying was that we clearly were getting poor service and there were a ton of host and hostesses and people who appeared to be management and nobody was even vaguely aware as they walked past has numerous times. I have been here several times prior to management changing for brunch. Our experience today was not nearly as pleasant as it has been. Our waitress was slow to get our orders/bring our drinks or food/clear plates, our table was not set at all, and our food was adequate at best. We realized tonight how important a waiter is to the restaurant experience. First off, the food and drinks were great. Well prepared, tasted great. Unfortunately, the waiter was not good at all. Missed the cocktail (which came during dinner). Soup with no spoon. Steak with no knife. No salt/pepper on the table and we've been pouring our own wine glasses from the bottle we ordered. Haven't seen the waiter much at all. And, by the way, we had specified on our reservation that we were celebrating our honeymoon when asked if it was a special occasion. Simply amazing ! I'm a foodie and this place is among the top 5 places I have ever eaten at! Service reminds me of NYC high end places or LA gourmet spots. I couldn't decide between apps so they combined and 1/2 without me asking! This restaurant is located in the Harbor View Hotel and, like the rest of the recently remodeled hotel, it's absolutely beautiful inside! The ceiling is made of this beautiful dark wood that all rushes into a large skylight in the middle of the restaurant, truly elegant, not to mention the views! We came here for brunch on Labor Day, and the food was incredible! The drink menu has all the classics, and a few options to really kick off your morning! I had the Lobster Benedict (on their summer menu) and it was truly delicious, the eggs were cooked perfectly and the hollandaise was so good and complimented the hearty lobster portion very well! We also had pancakes and their french toast, simply because we could not pick between the two! I still don't know which was my favorite, but either option will leave you happy and full! The staff was friendly, and very attentive! The next time we're in town, we want to try the dinner here, if it's anything like the brunch, it must be delicious! read more

Lovely setting, but we were supposed to be on the veranda but were seated inside in the back, a bit dark. Menu was out of calamari. My granddaughters filet was undercooked. Waitress was sweet but not crisp. For the prices it should be perfect... Chocolate doughnuts were way to spicey, almost overbearing. My chicken I ordered with asparagus and received spinach. My husbands lobster was different, should order the other lobster not the "b" lobster. Chris the original person that actually took our order for water was the highlight. Excellent! I definitely recommend! I got the tuna and caviar tartare and corn agnolotti. The agnolotti was so rich and creamy and the tuna and caviar tartare was clearly very high quality in terms of both ingredients and preparation. Bettini is in a beautiful Hotel and it's on the water with great views. The restaurant is nicely furnished and very spacious. Seating is comfortable and the tables offer plenty of room. We went a little early to have a cocktail before dinner. The bartenders were great and the cocktails even better. After our cocktails we were seated for dinner. Our server was very friendly and attentive. Our assessment of the food was, while everything we had was nicely presented and good, it wasn't outstanding which was disappointing. We had the opportunity to visit Bettini in the Harbor View hotel last night and could not be any happier. EVERYTHING from start to finish was perfect. Our meal began with sautéed mussels in a garlic and saffron fennel broth and they didn't disappoint! Our meals were grilled prime ribeye, roasted rack of new south wales lamb, and Casarecce oxtail ragu. This gave our table a good opportunity to taste a very wide variety from their well thought out menu. Everyone was extremely happy with each meal and had no complaints. Finally desert was equally outstanding. The icing on the cake for this elegant restaurant is certainly the service. Our server Bree was exceptional. Attention to every detail throughout the meal. Phil, one of the managers came to talk to us and really added a special touch to the entire experience. Bettini is an absolute must if you find yourself in beautiful Edgartown! I heard Bettini had made some changes over the past two years, and I was hesitant but decided to give it another try. It is a beautiful spot and I was curious. Wow! What a difference! Everything was great, from the warm welcome, to the friendly and helpful staff, the decor, the classy uniforms, and best of all, the delicious food and wine! Three. Count them: three lovely young hostesses. But it takes 20 minutes to get a drink. Longer to get an appetizer. We left after an hour and a half and getting not the salad we ordered. Invest less in eye candy for old men and more in bartenders and kitchen staff and you just might have a restaurant.
