Good dive bar & food place in Oak Bluffs. Especially convenient when waiting for the Hy-Cruise ferry. We stopped there for a pint while waiting for our ferry. Packed place but found two stools at the bar looking out at the boats. Tight fit but expected for this type of busy location. Don't pop in with a large group and expect a ready seating area. They had a nice selection of local brews on draft. I chose the Amity Summer Ale. (Cue the Jaws theme, LOL.) Good, refreshing. My wife had the Connecticut Valley Blueberry Lemonade. Ready tasty. Should we be back on the island, this would be a great stop when heading back. read more

Very nice spot by the ferry to stop by for food and drinks. We sat at the bar. We only had time for drinks because we were waiting to board the ferry back to Hyannis. My drink was very refreshing. Gave me an instant buzz and I was ready for my cruise back in the ferry. The food looked good from what I observed. It's a pretty tight spot near the bar. Which is where we were sitting. Three of us had lunch here in the Marina while in Oak Bluffs. We had been told that the Lobster Rolls were very good here. We sat outside in the shade on a warm day with a view of the boats in the Marina. It was a very pleasant spot with good people watching. Just picnic tables to sit on. Our server was quick and efficient. The Lobster Salad Rolls were very tasty and came with very good Fries. We didn't find the lunch inexpensive, but the good food and location made our stop worthwhile. read more

While recognizing I am near fresh seafood, I didn't want seafood and opted for the wings. I wanted to order lemon pepper wings thinking it was safe and because I am from Atlanta. The server convinced me to go for the sweet chili with a guarantee that I would like them. THEY DID NOT DISAPPOINT. They were crispy, nice size and well tossed. Stopped by for lunch with a big group. They were very accommodating and found us a few tables for us to sit together. The servers were also very attentive and prompt. The seating area was covered and had a great view of the harbor and feels very much like what you would expect from a harbor side bar and grill. We ordered some wings, fried clams, fried shrimp, fried pickles, and onion rings. You can't go wrong with fried poultry and seafood. Everything was nicely battered and flavorful. The wings had a good amount of heat, but the suicide was a bit lacking since I was expecting more burn. The shrimps were plump, tender, and cooked just right. The whole belly clams were also nicely fried. All in all, it was fun place to grab some lunch by the harbor. read more

The servers here are amazing. Super friendly and accommodating of my dietary needs as a person with Celiac disease that needs to eat gluten free. The server pointed out all the safe items I could have on the menu and ensured I had a great meal. The atmosphere is always lively and it's a great spot to people watch on the pier. I always go back for the Lobster fest specials and have been coming here for the last 5 years. The quality is always consistent although the lobster size is always a bit of a gamble! Coop de Ville is the one restaurant I cannot miss when I visit the Vineyard in the summer every year. The food is always delicious and really reasonably priced. There are tons of different flavors for the chicken wings and their seafood is always cooked perfectly. I had the clam chowder the other day and it is by far the best I've ever had. It was really creamy and full of flavor. Additionally, I'm a beer lover and the beer menu is loaded with craft beers that are really fun to try. The ambience is by far the best part about Coop de Ville. The staff are friendly and inviting. It's a place a lot of locals go to so you know the food and prices are great! The restaurant also has the very best view of Oak Bluffs Harbor. I recently dined at Coop de Ville in Oak Bluffs, Massachusetts with my wife and son after a day trip on Martha's Vineyard. I must say that the service left much to be desired. While the ambiance and food were quite enjoyable, the overall experience was marred by the impolite, bordering on rudeness of our waiter. We were trying to decide which meal to order and he was very impatient with us; at one point saying "Come on you guys; OK, let's make this simple." On several occasions we thanked him and not one time did he acknowledge it in some way. I hope the management takes this feedback constructively and considers providing more training and support to their service staff to ensure all customers have a positive dining experience. True island experience. This place is popping! Open air, near the water, great times. This is a must visit when in Oak Bluffs. We were seated at the bar within 5 minutes. People on the island will tell you - get the belly not the strips! And I did exactly that. The clam belly did not disappoint. It is priced "market price" ($26) and you get fried clam belly with fries and tartar sauce. My friend got a scallop roll with fries ($20) and was very happy with it. Our food came out fast, the servers were extremely nice, and the food tasted like the ocean! What else do you need? The restrooms are only accessible via code, so you do need to ask your server for it. Other than that, wonderful experience! read more

I rarely write yelp reviews but I'm compelled to shout out Coop de Ville. Their Lobster Fest poster at the Oak Bluffs info booth lured us in for lunch. We had a large group of 5 children (ages 4-11) and 5 adults (ages 40-71) and they accommodated us immediately under the tent, when we arrived before noon. Jennifer was our server and she is amazing!! She took care of us so well, along with the other tables in her section. You may imagine the chaos of lunch with so many kids but it was one of our highlights of our MV day trip (and Cape Cod trip in general). We ordered 3 steamed lobsters, fried scallops basket (huge and delicious), cheeseburger, tuna melt, fried clams basket, several bowls of chowder, and kids' mac & cheese. Also lemonades and several beers. Everyone was happy with their food, and the temperature of the food & portion size (that is tough with a large group). We come to the Island every 2 years to visit. As we've tried many of the restaurants there, we decided to try this fun-looking place on the harbor. Actually, the owner was out front & told us to "come, sit down, here's a menu!". Ok, so we said, "we'll try this one today." Now, I love a fish sandwich. And I'll get on every chance I get. This particular fish sandwich didn't really have any fish in it. Yes, it APPEARED to be a nice, big filet of cod, but it was actually a big slice of fried batter with a thin layer of cod in the middle. So, what I had was a tomato & batter sandwich on a too-thick bun. Bummer. read more

Being as this was my first visit to Martha's Vinyard and my first time eating a New England lobster roll I was extremely disheartened by the interaction with the pictured Coop de Ville employee. Prior to my visit, I joined multiple MVY FB groups and found out about the lobster specials @Coop de Ville as they were listed as "can't miss events/experiences." After spending $63.75 and tipping the female server $20.00 I left feeling unwelcomed and disrespected. What should have been a fun first time Martha's Vineyard and lobster roll experience has now become a low point in an otherwise amazing Msrtha's Vineyard experience. We placed a to go order for 3 lobster roll specials with one of the servers then sat at a table waiting for the bill and our food. We paid the bill including tip ($83.75) before our food came out. Once the food arrived my two sisters and her friend returned from shopping for souvenirs. She said, "stay and finish your meal before we go to the next stop on our tour (of Oak Bluffs)." Almost immediately the gentleman in the red shirt, who I assume is employed by Coop de Ville, came over with a piece of cloth to wave us away and then said loudly for us and the other patrons to hear, "if you order food to go you need to go...this is my real estate!" Although I understand the need to get as much business as possible during the busy summer months, we were paying patrons and as such were made to feel very uncomfortable and unwelcomed at the restaurant. The lobster roll was okay, but the fries were cold. Due to the poor customer service and poor manner in which we were treated the rest of my family refused to get lobster rolls. I would never recommend this restaurant or patronize them in the future. read more

Shame on me for judging this restaurant by its appearance. We've been coming to MV for 40 years and when people suggest we eat there I usually vote no. This year, there are fewer places to dine in open air to I tried it...and then I went back 3 nights in a row! Expect the basics, done well, priced right, served with a smile - Stella was excellent - on the water! We had Devin and Stella as our servers and they were both terrific. However, I do not understand how they can tolerate the (usual) drunk hassling them and wouldn't be surprised if these great employees sought employment elsewhere if management does not back them up. There are HELP WANTED signs all over the island and Nancy's is paying $25/hr to their bus boys. The $17 Tuesday lobster special is unbeatable on the island. If Coop wants to continue serving us they need to keep good employees - servers and cooks both. PS - I was a loyal Lookout Tavern fan for 10 years but they are having trouble in the kitchen now, portions are smaller, recipes are wrong, prices are higher. I never thought I would choose the Coop over Lookout but I am this summer. PPS - Get vaccinated and enjoy yourself. read more

Didn't like the fries much - they seemed quite greasy. We also got raw oysters for $20 and they were SO SMALL!! I've never seen oysters this small in my life. They sat us at the "bar" but our waitress never checked in on us and we had to get her attention to order. I've been here a couple times and every time the experience feels off.
