I'll be honest: I wasn't expecting too much given the size of the town and the humbleness of the location. But as more and more locals trickled in during this especially hot summer day, I started to feel like we had made the right choice stopping by on our way back up from the Gifford-Pinchot Forest. This little roadside stand with a tiny patio turned out to serve up some fried up comfort food done 100% right. The absolute star of the show was the halibut sandwich. It was everything a fishwich should be; thick, savory, fried crisp, slathered with tartar sauce, with a slab of bacon, all held together in a ciabatta bun. Short review. One employee was friendly (the young man). The place was clean. The double cheeseburger was okay; only one slice of cheese. The patty melt was good. The onion rings were bulk frozen and for the large, was equal to fast food order. WAY OVER PRICED!! The large chocolate shake was literally small, the small was basically a water glass size. So, two sandwiches, small onion rings, two small shakes was $42.00!!! Holy shit. We'll never go back. read more

Bettys place, The great, the good, the master. I don't even know where to start. So as always, I will keep it simple. We drove by Bettys as a detour from i5. If that had never happened, we would have never known this place. I had the entire family with me that day. Every child ordered something different for the first time at a restaurant. All I will say is that it is good when the children eat all their food and want more. They usually eat and say they are full when it's not suitable for them. That's how I know they are masters. Lewis County loves Betty's. Everyone comes from all over. Their burgers are fantastic. They have great chili, fish, and can we all give a huge nod to the diary section? Milk shakes ftw! Betty's is neat, clean, and they are always happy. I like going and eating in (well in the outdoor area nowadays due to covid) and end up running into all kinds of great people from little cities and towns in and around Toledo. I've never had a bad meal at Betty's. And I've had a bit of everything from sandwhiches to chicken to clams and of course the burgers. The buns are pretty darn good too. read more

This place was delicious! I first heard about it on Facebook when someone was looking for a good local place to get shakes and I have to say they did not disappoint! The shakes here are delicious and ridiculously thick, the kind of shake you have to let sit about 20 minutes just so you can get it through a straw. The burgers are good, small town burger joint burgers and the fries were cooked well. They have a lot of the classic burger combos and it definitely hits the spot when the craving strikes. The staff was all very friendly and were super patient when I was trying to get my kids to figure out what the heck they want. The actual "restaurant" part is really small with only a few tables available so to be on the safe side I would plan for take out in case they're all full. We will definitely be back again and I recommend it to anyone in the area looking for a simple and good burger and shake meal. read more

Amazing! We came with our kids, so everyone ordered something different- it was all delicious! Chicken strips were moist and tender, my husband had the halibut club and said it was one of the best fish sandwiches he's had! If your a local, or, read the Lewis Co reviews, you already know this is a great place to eat! But, what you may not know is who is working behind the window where you leave your order... The local Toledo high school students have been the after school, weekend, and summer staff here for many years. The food is always perfect when you're dining at Betty's. That is not an easy job, for those of you who have never worked next to a hot grill in the summer. It takes timing, teamwork, and dedication to details. Every med soft serve cone, small raspberry shake, large fry, burger with extra onion/no ketchup, fried chicken salad w/extra ranch, deluxe burger without mustard/onion/relish, large coke, fish basket w/fry sauce, banana split, medium extra chocolate malt made with chocolate soft serve, double burger w/out mustard, small fry w/tarter, deluxe double burger, and small diet Pepsi... for this one order have to be timed to be put in the pick up window all on the same tray at the same time. And that is just one, along with 10 other orders sitting on the wheel waiting to be made. The girls behind the windows were working like an incredibly timed machine, when we went in Sunday afternoon around 4 pm. All though they seemed to have a base station that they each occupied; taking your order, making drinks/ice cream items, working the grill, and/or gathering, completing, and calling out the order. They moved seamlessly between their areas helping each other. "I am going to make the sundaes for this order, someone take the customer orders for a minute". They were moving fast helping each other. And then it got busy. People starting filing in placing/picking up orders to stay/go filling the in/out door seating, parking lot and lining the in/out side walkways. By 5:30 the place was packed. The tip jar next to the cash register began to fill up as orders flew in and out. The food was beautiful, they deserved every dollar! What was also satisfying to see is the fact the customers were as friendly and helpful as the staff. Twenty minute wait for my food, no problem. Sliding past each other to get into/out of the snug tables, and handing full trays of food to other customers as they were ready for pick up. Opening the door and helping each other get the self busing done for tables all moved smoothly as though we were the "Walton's". People were patient, friendly, and chatted about the weather. You felt like you belonged in the small town, even if you hadn't been here since the solar eclipse last summer. read more

Needed a quick place to stop while traveling and decided to give this a try. We got the fish-wich, fried mac and cheese, and a peanut butter shake. Everything was out for us within 15 minutes and was very good. Definitely would recommend the fish and the mac and cheese bites. Very good. I have been to Betty's a couple of times while camping at Lewis and Clark State Park and have ordered milkshakes to go both times. Betty's is a decent little roadside diner in sleepy Toledo, WA and they are pretty well known for milkshakes and ice cream, locally. Customer service here is not great. It's mostly staffed by teenager girls who are rude and are not courteous at all. They are slow and seem to have little regard for good customer service. With that said, they do make a nice milkshake. They blend it to a reasonable consistency for either straw or spoon action and they use real fruit in several of their shakes. They also offer a variety of flavors and soft service ice cream as well. The prices are decent for a little tourist town and the food always looks okay for a burger stop. read more

Not quite as delicious as some claim. Still prefer Dairy Dans when in Chehalis. These burgers have a relish on them that I do not care for. (They will omit it upon request) I have tried the fish and chips basket- can't brag about that. Big fish pieces but limp fries and the breading was over done, too brown for me. I do enjoy the halibut sandwich!!! And I have always gotten good crisp perfect fries until that fish basket time. It is very cool to offer those tiny baby cones for the little ones or the adult who has to have an ice cream fix but is trying to be a good dieter. All-in-all a good basic burger joint. Oh yes! I do so hope they remodel their bathroom some day soon. It could be so cute!!!!! I do enjoy the seasonal decorations they always put up and the curtains are always clean and pressed. One of my favorite Mom and pop burger joints. Always clean, consistent, and pleasant service. Sunday drive kind of shop. We stopped at Betty's Place on our way back from hiking at Mt. St. Helen's. Everything we had was delicious. We all had a burger of some sort and we all thought they were great. We shared a large fry (basic crinkle cut) and a large onion ring (great). We didn't try any of the ice cream offerings since the boy was hoping to stop at his favorite place on the way home. Super yum food, decent prices, and nothing has ever been greasy gross or even close. They've got the local burger joint staples but also some creative options and specials that cover pretty much any diet.
