There used to be 2 Lab Corp in that business park, but now there's just 1 Lab Corp in San Ramon. I have only been to the Alcosta location a couple times, and I find it very busy. I will probably return to it because it is the closest to me. The wait can be very long. I find it is best to schedule an appointment ahead of time, but early morning appointments seem to fill up fast. Even with an appointment, there can still be a wait. The waiting room is definitely very small and it feels very crowded too. You check in via the kiosk and wait for your name to be called. I find even if I have an appointment, I am not called within the time frame and can wait a bit. Parking here is pretty easy. As for the phlebotomists, I haven't had good luck with them but they are okay. I really like the ones at the older location who did a better job. I had to be poked more than once here and they had trouble with my vein. At the previous location, they were really good with everything and I felt very comfortable. They are still very competent here but I suppose it could be better.

You also have to scan your insurance card ID. Thereafter, you sit and wait. I was 15 mins. early for my appointment... called by a pleasant lady receptionist after 20 mins. waiting - who once again check me in and asked for my insurance card. Needless to say seem my initial check in process was useless. I was then lead to a room to where the lab tech came in and started the process of drawing blood . Had a hard time and was very painful. Cannot believe before going there I was alright but, when I leave both of my hands hurt and bundled up. Overall, does not seem very efficient and got me worried. Can't see what the lab tech was doing nor am I able to see if she was using all sterilized needles... etc - I am presuming it is.

I have difficult veins, and I understand that some blood draws can be challenging. However, I was under the impression that a trained phlebotomist would know how to work with patients who have difficult-to-find veins. The phlebotomist tried my right arm, then my left arm, but was unsuccessful. I was then told to reschedule. I asked, "What happens if you're unable to find my vein next time? Do I just have to reschedule again?" There didn't seem to be a clear solution or any attempt to try another approach. I've had blood drawn many times at Kaiser Permanente and have never experienced this kind of concern. I understand that difficult veins can make blood draws challenging, but I expected a more experienced and professional approach. Unfortunately, this experience left me feeling very frustrated and questioning the level of competence and training at this location. I hope the staff receives additional training on handling patients with difficult veins so others don't have the same experience.

Unfortunately, my experience with the same front-desk employee on two separate occasions once in December and again today, more than six months apart has been very disappointing. Today, I accompanied my wife for routine lab work. While the front-desk employee was checking us in, I simply asked a polite question to confirm that all five tests ordered by her doctor had been included. The tests had been ordered a couple of months earlier to be completed now, so I wanted to make sure everything was correctly captured. Instead of simply answering the question, his response and demeanor were unnecessarily dismissive and disrespectful. When I asked why he was responding that way to a straightforward question, the interaction escalated. He spoke to me loudly and told me that we were not there for "action and reaction" and accused me of raising my voice, even though I had been speaking normally up to that point. I eventually responded firmly that he also needed to lower his voice and speak courteously. What makes this particularly disappointing is that I had a similar negative interaction with the same employee back in December. At that time, I chose to give him the benefit of the doubt and assumed he may simply have been having a bad day. Experiencing essentially the same type of behavior again more than six months later makes me concerned that this is not an isolated incident. Labcorp has otherwise been a place my family has trusted for years, which is why this experience stands out so much. Front-desk staff are often the first point of contact for patients, and basic courtesy, patience, and respectful communication should be a fundamental part of that role. I hope Labcorp management takes this feedback seriously and looks into the interactions and training of the front-desk staff at this location. It would be unfortunate for the behavior of one employee to undermine what has otherwise been a very good experience with this Labcorp location over many years.
