I can't wait for the glasses I ordered to arrive. I had been shopping around, after having my eye exam elsewhere, to find the right style of frames. Considering glasses are right on your face, I want to make sure I love the design of my frames. Immediately upon entering, I was greeted by Boris. He was finishing with another client, and was able to ask if I was looking for anything within the next minute. I described the size & style of what I was looking for, and in less than 5 minutes we had 3 great pairs for me to try on. I was pretty sure I had found my choice within the first round of frames. But just to be sure, Boris took the time to have me try on another 4 frames which were all great suggestions. If money was unlimited I would've left with 3 pairs. Once I was settled on my choice, we sat down to clarify the lens details. Boris wasn't pushy at all, was informative, and completely transparent with the pricing breakdown. This is my go to spot for when I want a nice pair of shades or nonprescription glasses. It's the sister shop to my optometrist, Zak. I have really good eye insurance which they take so I am happy with that and the selections. It's a small luxurious shop, on the corner of Beverly in Beverly Hills, across from The Cheesecake Factory. I got there 20 minutes before they closed at 6 on a Wednesday evening. You will find all the designers from Chanel to Dior to amazing designers I had no clue but was able to learn about the type of glasses they produce and their mission. Levi Tyler was my associate while shopping for some new shades. He asked me what type of glasses was I looking for? I let him know the boxy style that I liked. I tried on one pair of glasses which he believed didn't Suit me. He gave me GREAT detail of the designers. Levi Tyler was super kind. I ended up getting some CUTE Fendi sunglasses. My younger sister told me that the glasses fit my generation and NOT the Gen Z-ers, lol. oh I am sorry. Happy millennial here. Happy with the experience. Dr. Zakheim helped me when no one else could and even followed up with me via text to check on me in the days and weeks to come. That's unheard of. Especially in LA. After your exam, you get the true pleasure of meeting the best team of optometrists: Lisa, Justin and Boris. I was devastated to find out I needed glasses until I met them and saw the selection, which is not just the same BS in every other high end store (but yes, they have that too...if that's what you're looking for). Boris is the man! He and the team have built my collection of over 30 frames. I am constantly stopped while out and about to ask where I got my glasses. They make boring outfits fun for sure. The most amazing experience with Levi Tyler He explained everything to me about my lenses, helped me pick frames and in the process of it he made sure to go over all of the details that I needed to know about the color of my lenses and what would work good for me looking at screens, Also being outside in the sun, it's very important for me to see true color. Glasses will be ready soon and I *loved* that they had an option to deliver them... but I loved the place and my experience with the front desk man and Dr. Ayumi Kimura. At first, they did a few checks with my eyes at the corner of the desk to help fill the doctor in with how my eyes reacted to light and distance. From there, the DO expected nothing but a focused attitude for my further tests. She even had me redo the front desk ones at the end to make sure the room behind the desk hadn't done my eyes any wrong changes from it being dark for parts of it. I've also never been one to have had a color check for my eyes, but she checked what colors had me more in focus to help with the lenses. Truthfully, I hope you all bring in your own current glasses because one of mine is curved and yet this place was still telling me more on how beautiful they were and ready to help me with working on the part where you put in new lenses. HOWEVER, they *do* have a far and wide selection from Ray Bans to more Moncler. Overall I'd say 10/10 and 5 stars out of five. 10/10 isn't the reading prescription, btw service was on point, quick, and real. read more

I had to let some time pass before I wrote this. A few months ago.... There was a great guy that greeted me in the store and got me settled for my appointment, did one of those air test things on my eyes and then I waited for my appointment. When the optometrist came in I was trying to be myself and fun. I was immediately met with the words "we don't like that energy here" which immediately shut me down and I was furious. Actually beyond furious. I'm not sure what was implied by my "energy" but the rest of the appointment was terrible with the woman's most passive aggressive demeanor and clearly thinks she is more than she is and completely oblivious. I was happy to leave and get out of the room. It was insane, but I held it together. Upon leaving the room and walking to the store part, the optometrist told me "I like your "little" murse", which I immediately replied. "Thank you, I feel proud that I can carry a bag without being discriminated against". Another person that worked there sitting in the corner laughed at her comment to me, as if she was being subtle. Are these people for real ? Anyhow, I proceeded to purchase a beautiful pair of glasses and spent my money here. My prescription is terrible and has to be changed and I fully blame the Optometrist. Fully. Another shaved head gentleman working there, not the really nice one from the beginning or the caddy cornerman, sold me my beautiful glasses. He was pushy, didn't listen and wasn't happy when I took out another pair of glasses I asked if they could put a screw in for me. So there is that. Now, when I returned to pick up my new pair of glasses and the repair, there was a wonderful blonde woman who was amazing and helped me try on my glasses and made me feel like a client. Which I was.... My personal rating OPINION. Optometrist woman who helped me should be fired. The caddy friend in the corner, should know better. The pushy sales guy, should take some more acting classes to come across like he cares about his job. The nice man (AAA+++) who had so much good energy and the amazing professional blonde woman (AAA+++), should be commended and given raises, which I'm sure the other employees don't acknowledge them so I will. I'm not sure how they still have a 4.8 star rating, because if you read the recent posts it's pretty much the same story with the one stars. My first visit to this location was in 1991 when I worked on Rodeo Drive and I always loved going here. Avoid at all costs. Today I was in the neighborhood running errands and walked past Optometrix. I went in and asked if I could pay to have my frames adjusted (I just got a new pair from Jacques Marie Mage a few weeks ago and they were too tight). The man at the counter scoffed, said he couldn't help me, and that I should "take them back to where I got them and get a full refund because they don't work with my face". What? They just needed to be adjusted. I've been wearing glasses since I was 12 years old. This ain't my first rodeo. I walked down the street to Morgenthal Frederics where I was greeted by an extremely nice and helpful woman who adjusted them on the spot. Lesson of the day: go to Morgenthal Frederics. NO! My daughter and I walked into Optometrix in need of prescription glasses for both of us. We were ready to spend some money and have some fun. Here are the RULES and how it works: 1. We were welcomed by a rope blocking the doorway! Sooooo, do come in? Don't come in? You are only allowed to come in 5 steps? So weird! Are you hearing "we are excited you came since there are eyewear retailers on every corner?" What is the message of the rope? We were just confused. Our connotation of rope is, "Do not enter!" 2. You are asked (from behind the ropes), what your purpose for entering is. You must stay on your side of the rope while clarifying your purpose. Clearly, free browsing is not allowed unless accompanied by staff. (remember the rope!) 3. These choices are presented after clearing entry: A snooty salesperson or an arrogant owner. Both, thinking they are in Van Cleef and Arpels. We got the salesperson. It was abundantly clear that browsing was for peasants. I waited for her to choose for me. She pointed to a pair in the open case. 4. WARNING WARNING. I reached in to get them! I was instantly scolded and told NOT to put my hands in the case! Reaching in is not for the peasant! Even though I wash my hands too! I quickly put them down. She then handed them to me. I shakily tried them on. Upon handing them back, she wiped them vigorously as if they were the hope diamond. My daughter and I actually did have fun...... LEAVING this place! We were cracking up at the pretentiousness over acetate and metal. I suggest you DO give this place a visit if you are looking for a challenge! See if YOU can get behind the rope and learn if you too can endure the pretentiousness of...... Optometrix. There is no other place I would go to get my prescription and glasses in Los Angeles. Dr. Zakheim gives the best eye exam and prescription in town. He's an excellent doctor with the best personality and care. I am extraordinarily far-sighted and can barely see without my glasses. Lisa, who works at Optometix, could not be more helpful and kind and does a great job helping me pick the best frames for my prescription and face whenever I need them. It's not that the service is bad, it's that the staff is incompetent. The only one who knows what he's doing is the giant who looks like The Rock. But he typically just prefers hanging tight to give others a chance. I bought a pair $1200 frames + lenses. The lenses were mis-shaped in way that required them being wedged into the frame with a part of it sticking out. Instead of filing down the lens, the 'adjustment' involved them heating the frame under some sort of device to mold it around the lens. As I mentioned, the staff is incompetent so they ended overheating the frame and bending it out of shape to accommodate the badly cut lens. The frame was bent, the lens was still too big so I cut losses and brought it to another optician that filed down the lens and heated the frame to remold it back into shape. read more

From the moment we entered the store the saleswoman was completely uninterested in helping us. She was unhelpful and every time we found something of interest, she acted as if we were bothering her. I've been going to the BH store for about 15 years. The staff is wonderful and very helpful! The optometrists I've seen there over the years have all been patient and professional - they seem really interested in making sure my prescription is accurate and helps me see the best that I possibly can. I've also sat down with Mariella many times to look at glasses frames and have bought many frames with her help. She is very smart, has great taste and isn't pushy at all - she brings a European class/flair that you don't often find when dealing with retail providers in LA. I find a lot of the stores in BH are staffed with ignorant and condescending people - not so with Mariella. She is just the best! read more

I'm straying away from my bar & restaurant reviews to write a hate review. I HATE Optometrix. If you want New York store staff attitude in LA then this is a good place to start. Yuck. Yet if you want to see attractive young women (cleavage) this is the place. But a warning - don't expect good service. There were four people staffing this place this Sat. One was serving a couple. The others were chatting to each other and shared mono-syllablic replies with no real interest in why I was in the store in the first place. Oh, and if you come by on a Sat you might also experience the stinkiness which emanated from the cheese offered to shoppers?! Hmmm. This is an opticians, not Bristol Farms. Even if the cheese wasn't there this store stinks to me- funky service and the funky $885 sunglass prices. If you *must* see an optician in this neighborhood, then go down the street and you'll find a less gaudy store which hopefully is better than Optometrix. I mean, it can't get worse. This is my favorite place for impulse shopping. What can I say? Cristofe's Salon is just across the street, so I'm constantly thrown into temptation's arms. I'm a sucker for fabulous sunglasses and when I allow myself to walk into Optometrix, I undoubtedly walk out with a shiny new pair. Located on the southwest corner of Beverly Dr and Brighton Way, Optometrix has a great location. The staff can be friendly or give perfect shade! (I say with much love) I myself, have had both experiences over the years... so I guess it all depends on what they've had for lunch. The shifts are conspicuously separated into male or female threesomes. On my most recent trip I met the men of the store and had a wonderful time! BOTTOM LINE: Expensive, as it should be; Excellent location; and a 92% chance for excellent service. However, tell them you read Gal About Town and they'll treat you fabulously! My husband and I have been going to Optometrix for over a decade and they always have a wonderful selection of luxury and niche brands for glasses/sunglasses. Lisa is one of the best opticians in LA. They're patient, provide the best customer service, and always help you find what you're looking for. They take vision insurance (I use VSP). Highly recommend them! During the pandemic, they are complying with County public health guidelines, taking temperatures, providing hand sanitizer, sanitizing the glasses before and after trials, and limited the number of customers to keep people socially distanced. I had a horrible experience in this store. I work in the area and have two or three times walked in just to browse, as I recently got my first prescription for glasses. I walked in last week, and they looked at me like I had three heads. The woman stands up immediately and asked me if I'm here for an eye appointment. I said no. She said "can I take you around and show you how this works?" I said, all good, I have been in before and am just browsing. As if I don't understand how the concept of retail works.. They acted as if I had committed a horrible offense by wanting to enter there store to look at their merchandise. I walked to the opposite end of the store, and the other pretentious employee who definitely heard the previous exchange said "can I help you with something?" I said, no, I'm here to kill some time, and he replies, "This is not a place to kill time." I said, are you serious? He says, "yes, but no." Then the two of gave each other a look and rolled their eyes. Can you imagine behaving this way to a customer? This is a horrid store. Boris is my guy, I bought some Cartier shades online, and brought them first to the Cartier store to verify their authenticity, the Cartier told me to take them back as quickly as I can, I waked in to Optometrix for a second opinion and Boris agreed with Cartier, luckily eBay allowed me to take them back based on them being knockoffs. I went in today to see if their office would take my insurance and walked into 3 people staring at me. I greeted them first, they were not friendly. I hope whoever runs this business takes the time to run cameras and watch. I went in around 2:20pm and there were 2 women sitting and one man standing. I veered to my left and chose to speak to the woman sitting on the left side of the store - I don't recall her name but she had a French accent and was blonde. I work in customer service and I had to basically do more of the talking so the French woman would warm up and help me. At first she told me that I needed to go online and see if my insurance was part of their network. As I talked to her a little more she finally decided she would look it up for me and found me on her first try. She scheduled me in and then I asked her if I could take a look at what frames they have. She then suggested that I wait until I get my prescription cause certain glasses can't take certain prescriptions. I told her that I understood, but I wanted to take a look- as I walk by this shop everyday and was curious. She then told me if I want to see any glasses that I would have to ask and she would hand them to me- which is fine because I've worked in luxury settings before. My experience was the staff was uninviting and they were very stuck up. The store is small and the gentleman and the other woman refused to acknowledge as I walked around the store. Even though this location would be most convenient for me, I'm going to cancel my appointment since the customer service created a unwelcome atmosphere . I had such a wonderful experience here. I moved to BH 2 years ago and was still seeing my old optometrist on Montana Ave (who was and is still, awesome) but the drive was just too far. I didn't have time so find a new optometrist and was on (gasp) my last pair of contacts when one of them ripped. Desperate and blind I called Optometrix and they were able to fit me immediately. The price for the exam was extremely reasonable and the Doctor who handled it could not have been sweeter. She was very knowledgeable and took her time to get my prescription right. I told them to call me if they are able to order a special color in oliver peoples and provide the price and confirmation of the color(limited edition). It seems all they care about is money and not the actual patients or customers. 6 people in the store and all they do is walk around hoping someone with lots of money comes in and they can swindle them into buying glasses twice the price. Trolled around Beverly Hills today and the sunglasses I so 'desperately needed' to wear while in this city just broke; the arm simply fell off of the one side. I remembered seeing a optometry place nearby on Beverly so I figured I would give them a whirl. There was a girl behind the one desk that was on the phone so I waited patiently for her to finish but she went ahead and acknowledged me so I told her my issue as I showed her the glasses minus the one arm. 3 minutes later, I was walking out the door as she had quickly found the appropriate screw, put it back in, tightened the other side to make sure it was secure, sprayed them down, wiped them with a soft cloth, and handed then back over with a smile. So great to feel confident in your doctor. I usually always go to Costco to get my eye and contact exam. It feels so routine. They are supposed to do an exam, but it's just an eye test. I recently found out I have serious eye problems and the optometrist at Costco never even caught it. I was referred to Optometrix by my friend Tannaz and ever since I started going, I know that my eyes are really being taken care of and I don't have to worry about my eye condition worsening due to the negligence during my previous eye exams. The service is very personalized and the doctor takes his time to throughly evaluate your eyes and get accurate prescriptions as well. Which is important because you don't get random headaches because of a prescription being slightly off. Best part, they don't try to up sell you which totally makes me feel comfortable. 5 stars all the way! read more
