I brought in a lamp and the technician saw that it was difficult to fix. (I'd tried) After spending 15-20 minutes assessing the problem, lo and behold, it worked. After that he schooled me in what might have gone wrong and said if the switch failed he could order it. I appealed to him to take money but he refused. I've been going to this business (under a different name) for vacuum products and have had terrific results, but this was over the top. read more

It took the two of us to replace the bulb, just because we do everything together. Uh oh, switch didn't catch. "No worries baby, we'll take it to a great place on Pico and Robertson." "It's a long holiday weekend, what's the name of the place? I'll check the Yelp app so we can call to be sure they're open." "Uh, I dunno the name of the place but I've been going there for years." "Let's not waste a trip." "No worries, if they're closed we'll just get lunch somewhere." "All righty, road trip." Fortunately, Beverly Hills Vacuum and Lighting was open. I took two broken lamps and on a separate occasion a broken vacuum. Each item was quickly and professionally repaired. The lamps were the most important because they were passed down from my grandmother. Sergio explained that the harp was too small for a three way bulb and that an led would give me the light I was looking for and what it would look like. After not being able to get a replacement part at the vacuum repair store I originally bought my used vacuum at, I came here. After searching through his boxes of hoses, he finally found one that could work for the old, discontinued Kenmore I have. Not only was it a better hose than the original one, he only charged $20. They also fix swing machines, hair dryers, lamps and sundry other electrics. And sharpen knives and scissors, for cheap. I'm bringing a few over soon. Close to where I live too. Hopefully I won't need to return but if I have a problem I'm going here from now on. read more

I brought in a Turkish chandelier that needed to be rewired with a new cord. Did it in a day. Later when my wife and I realized that the chandelier was hanging too low, I brought it in for them to unwire it so that it could be it could be shorted by cutting some parts and having rewording the lamp. Sergio told me that he could shorten the lamp himself. He took apart part of the chandelier, undid the rewiring removed some parts, rewired it and put it back together. It's now perfect and I was so grateful to and I asked how much the service would cost and Sergio said no cost. I can't recommend these guys enough. read more

If I had to say I'm OCD about something, it would have to be cleaning. There, I'm an OCD clean freak. I can't get enough of those Costco disinfecting wipes and I have a strange obsession with keeping the plastic coating on new things like my ipod that I've had for 3 years, but I digress. So you can imagine my horror when the vacuum my Mom bought me for my first apt. many many years ago died last Fall. I felt like I had lost a limb. That vacuum had followed me though every move I've ever had. Traveled across the country when I moved to L.A. so I couldn't just throw it out. Beverly Hills Vacuum is located in my 'hood and is a small shop with I think two repair guys. They took my vacuum, which had a burned out motor, fixed it up good as new and cleaned it and replaced that little light bulb to boot! I feel very ripped off. I came in with my Husqvarna knowing that there was something very minor on my machine. S I told him that the bobbin kept getting stuck and I can't figure out how to fix it. he opened my bobbin drive and told me that I was using the wrong bobbin. So he brought out the bobbin that is for my machine and it worked! So I asked him how much do I owe him and he told me $25 dollars. $5 for the bobbin and $20 for him to tell me what was wrong with my machine. I knew he knew I was upset at the price. So he told me his starting price was at $85 and that he was giving me a good price. He also said at least he made my machine work for $20 which is all that matters. YEAH RIGHT. I should of just honestly googled what was wrong with my machine and saved my butt $20 for a verbal fix. I'll give him another star though for helping me learn a couple things on my machine. read more

Outstanding experience here! This is a small shop on the south side of Pico just west of the Robertson intersection. There's street parking directly in front of the shop. Brought in my 20-year-old Brother sewing machine after trying to solve a sudden problem on my own via youtube videos...... The owner helped me right away.... Fixed the "problem" in less than a minute, explained what I needed to do to keep it from happening again. He did not even charge me when I asked what I owed him. It was such a small problem so I wasn't surprised that it would be free of charge, but he earned a customer and tons of referrals that I will give. Now I am back at my project. I am very happy with the result and his knowledge is immense when it comes to sewing machines. I will never go anywhere else. I was frantic about my vintage Pfaff malfunctioning, but the upside is that I discovered this great resource! Sergio had my machine back in working order within 24 hours. His shop is neat and comfortable. There's a pay-parking lot a few doors down, although I was able to park on the street. The store was easy to find, and a pretty quick trip from Venice/Culver. Sure he did great work, but I was very impressed by his attitude. He was polite and professional. We chatted about my machine, and he complimented the restoration job that had been done in another state. He even showed me a 1910 Singer he was working on, proving that he takes pride in his work. Also, he insisted on carrying my machine to my car for me--what a gentleman! I don't remember exactly what work he did, but the total cost was $85, and he called me before starting the repairs. I left his shop feeling confident, and my machine is working great. I'm getting an early 60s German Singer soon, and I look forward to bringing it to him for a tune-up. read more

My vacuum was brought there for a repair. I hadn't heard back from them a week later so I called, turns out they hadn't started the repair. Another week passed and I still hadn't heard from them. When I called a second time they still hadn't started on my repair?! I finally got a call that the cord needed to be replaced and it would take an hour to repair. Why go to Home Despot and search in vain for an employee when you have access to an expert? We should be supporting local shop owners as much as we can. Segio & Beverly Hills Vacuum are incredible. He took apart my Dyson vacuum for repair. You can only imagine how many parts there were (there are a ton without it being taken apart). It wasn't super cheap, but way better than buying a new Dyson. He put it all back together and got it working like a dream. I also brought him a light form the 80's. He said that it was a good light and worth fixing, so he did, very inexpensively, like $20. I highly recommend!! read more

So vacuum belt broke. No biggie, called a few vacuum stores and they were either closed (mid week at around 2:00) or had called ID and hate me. I don't know I didn't think to much about that, but took my cheap $59 Hoover to this place, and the guy took his sweet time to serve me, no he wasn't busy as far as I could see, but when he finally looked up, he smiled warmly and fixed the belt in less that 50 seconds. Then he even helped me by carrying my vacuum to my car, which I had parked embarrassingly far to save a quarter for the paring meter! But over all, decent service and a decent price, my bill was $12.00. read more

I had my old Dyson serviced. Service was fast, a little pricy but much cheaper than a new vacuum. My vacuum works like new now!

I brought my ailing Miele vacuum cleaner to a different dealer in West Los Angeles. After a week of waiting, I called and he told me that it would cost $275 or more to repair it, that the motor needed to be completely overhauled, and he might not be able to find a replacement hose for it. He then proceeded to sell me a new Miele when I decided not to repair the old one. He offered me a box of vacuum bags in exchange for my old Miele, which I accepted but I then thought better of the deal, gave him back the bags, and took my old vacuum cleaner back. I decided to try a small vacuum repair shop I had passed a few times. What a delightful experience. He called me after evaluating the machine and said it would be $150. Since I have a second house that needed a vacuum, I decided to go ahead with the repair. When I picked my vacuum cleaner up, he told me all it needed was a thorough cleaning and he also cleaned the outside of the vacuum and installed some wires that keep the lid from wobbling. He's also a very nice man. I highly recommend this honest, capable establishment. read more

I love small mom and pop shops, and this one exemplifies everything that a small repair shop should be. Sergio is the most honest, knowledgable, efficient, and fair guy I know. I've taken three sewing machines (including a serger made by a really obsure European company) to him, and for $85 each he gave them all a tune-up, fixed some broken dials and knobs, and made them all run again like new. Two of these machines were made in the 1950's and Sergio has a particular fondness for old machines (as evidenced by his personal collection of 1920's-era vacuums, which he has on display). He really has an appreciation for the older machines and understands how they work. I'm going to take him one of our vintage vacuum cleaners just for the heck of it. I'm pretty mad about the way they treated me. I brought in my Dyson and came back the next day per their promise to have it fixed. It wasn't fixed so the guy fixed it for me right then. It took exactly 2 seconds -- he undid the hose and pulled out the Chapstick that was lodged in the tube. Then he charged me $29.00. I understand he has to pay his rent, but he is certainly NOT building customer loyalty. I would go out of my way to patronize someone else. read more

My machine was fixed while I waited less than 10 minutes, vacuumed clean and plate screws reset (i didn't know they'd been removed). I dropped off my Hoover Thursday afternoon. I waited all weekend for an estimate. I called Monday and he said, "I have not checked it yet." Entirely too long to wait for a diagnosis, and he did not plan on checking it until I called. $48 for "maintenance?" What exactly does "maintenance" cover? $48 is too expensive for maintenance. 4 days is too long to receive an estimate. Spend your money elsewhere. read more
