I screwed up my main car key, and my backup key had a dead battery (I had also stripped the threads of the backup key, in an unsuccessful attempt to open up the keyfob and replace the battery) - so I was stuck at home with effectively no way to drive around. Replacing my current locks + adding an additional deadbolt. Jin came over to do a free estimate and specifically told me that with my current latch that I bought wouldn't work and I had to replace it. He came over the next week with one of his associates and within one hour it was done. The locks he installed are perfect. Jin is extremely thorough and made sure I was satisfied with the work. The price he charges is excellent for the high quality work that he has. If you want a shit job then you're gonna have to pay a cheap price. For my situation I had multiple locks of the same brand that I wanted to be opened with one key. About ten years ago, I just removed the locks off my doors and dropped them off, along with the key I wanted them matched to, at a locksmith just around the corner from me and things would be done in about 30-45 mins. Given the situation with crime in the Hollywood area, I wasn't going to do that this time around. With so many highly rated locksmiths on Yelp, it boiled down to price and availability to take care of the request ASAP. Beverly Locksmith had very reasonable rates. $45 service call charge and $20 to rekey each lock with an existing key. These rates may vary depending on the number of keyholes that need to be worked on and may even increase if inflation keeps up at the rate it's going. Just a quick note, if a lock has a keyhole on both sides, you'll get charged for each keyhole. As for response time, it was immediate. Once I agreed to the price, the locksmith was able to come over right after we got off the phone and it took about 45 minutes for him to complete the job. This would have been a five star review EXCEPT that when the job was done, and we were tallying up the bill, he adds CA sales tax to his total. In CA, sales tax isn't applied to professional service labor charges and would only be applicable to the extra keys he made. When he told me that there was sales tax, I didn't argue since this is a small mom and pop business and times are tough due to record breaking inflation. I just considered the 9.5% "tax" as an added fee and was disappointed that he had to go out like that. read more

The tech was responsive , said free estimate,but upon arrival , he stated that he would not charge me ,if he could not fix it. So then he proceeds to only spray WD 40 and put in 1 screw. Then tells me my lock is fixed. I didn't even see him take apart the lock . He said it's an old lock , I fixed it . Not until I told him the handle is still really loose and the you sprayed the lock with WD 40 and put a screw in my door , that didn't need it. He then opened up the lock to tell me it's old , so I said you did not fix it , it still loose. I just want it fixed . He proceeds to charge me $250 . $150-$250 was the rough estimate and he stated I told you how much it would be if I came out here , and I said yes to FIX the lock , not spray it with WD 40 , I could have done that. I'm not sure about you but that is not right to charge that much money for WD40 spray. He says the whole locking mechanism on our storm door is $1000 if I replace the whole thing. Then he said, $250 for my work to fix the lock , huh???? You didn't fix it I told him. At this point , I was done and gave him $250 and he gave me back $50 because I was unsatisfied. I was grateful for that , but even giving him $200 for WD 40 spray and a screw felt like I got screwed. Expensive lesson learned, you cannot trust people on their word. He even left without giving me a receipt. My son witnessed me giving him the money too. In my life ,my word is my honor , he did not keep his word , very dishonorable in my eyes. It's a shame because I went off of the reviews on yelp , I wish I had a better experience like some of the yelpers . Oh well. read more
