If you call any locksmith you get a callcenter and they dispatch someone and it's just kinda weird when you think this person potentially has the keys to your house you found on the internet. On the other hand, you call Jin and Jin shows up and he's super cool and sweet and I couldn't have been happier. He also makes spares on site and he fixed a little issue my door had free of charge. Around 8:30 am, I arrived home from working the night shift only to find that the lock to my condo was stuck/jammed and no amount of wiggling with my key could release it. I searched on yelp, found Jin's business, gave him a call, and he promptly answered his phone and subsequently provided text message updates on his ETA. He arrived within 20 minutes, troubleshooted for a little over 5 min, grabbed more necessary tools from his car, and was able to open my door and diagnose the problem. He replaced a few parts, and the total came out to $190 + tip because he did a good job (checks accepted!). He seems skilled in his craft and is pleasant to work with. Jin came to rekey a lock for me that happens to be vintage and very difficult to work with. Trust me, I called around and other locksmiths wanted to charge quite a bit to work with this rare hardware, each citing the relatively unavailable parts and general difficulty in smithing around the dated lock itself. Jin showed up with everything necessary and expertly rekeyed the lock, leaving me with keys that work like new!(they are new, but you get the point) In addition to clearly knowing his craft, he's a personable guy with reasonable prices. Great vendor - we needed to change our mailbox lock after the previous tenants sent us the wrong keys. I sent out a quote request to a few vendors, and Jin was very responsive and offered a competitive rate ($70 for same day lock change, compared to others quoting at $95 and $98). Like others have said - tiny local key shop in Koreatown. They can cut Porsche Key blades, although do not do the remote programming. That was handled by downtown LA Porsche. The Porsche dealership did not have a key cutter, so I took it here. The owner was nice enough to cut the key on the weekend - Sunday in fact. Thank you sir. read more

He quoted a very high price on the phone and I called another place that was high but less than him. When I sent him a text that I got a lower quote he quoted me $5 less than the new quote. Solid service, done right. Needed a lock fixed, came out promptly and not only fixed the lock, but improved on what was there. Feels more solid now than it did when we moved in. My one issue is that he seemed to spend as much time on the phone as on my lock, so it took a while. Also, even though I have a dog he kept leaving the door wide open, as he would walk away to talk on the phone. Not a commentary on his otherwise excellent work, but I had to frequently close the door enough so my dog wouldn't run away, which was a little annoying. When i used the other lock smith they just replaced the whole door handle and charged 120. This guy got here really fast and charged 75, opened the lock without replacing the handle in 30 seconds. Was very impressed. You wont find a better deal around K town, i already tried. read more
