Using this locksmith has been one of the worst experiences EVER. I need to program an additional remote for my Nissan Leaf. I called four days ago and arranged an appointment for 8 AM today. At 7 AM he texted that he was tied up and could I come this afternoon. I arrived here at 1:30 PM and he has been struggling for two hours to program the remote. In the process, he wiped the program on my existing remote so now I cannot start or move my car. I've had to call another locksmith ($325) to save me. I told him that he would have to pay and he asked me to take a check. Are you joking??? He gave me $325 in cash and now I am sitting here waiting for the other locksmith. This locksmith is within a mile of my place so whenever I locked myself out or needed to replace my mailbox after losing the keys (you can see that losing keys is the story of my life), I called this place for a price quote. I think I used this service once but since then every time I ask for a price quote, it is incredibly high compared to what I end up actually going with from other people. I believe this place has quoted me $75 and above for a house lockout and also for a mailbox change. Their transit cost is the cost of less than 2 miles, which is far less than $1 even on the most gas-guzzling car. The time it takes to get to and from my place is also less than 10 min. And the time it takes to actually pick a lock or replace a lock has never taken more than 30 minutes and has often taken 15 or less. So the pay rate he's asking for is in the ballpark of $110 an hour... as a conservative estimate. I can easily find another place located nearby that will charge $50 instead. I'm for high pay for good work but I'm not super fond of businesses that gouge customers. I've think I've even visited this place in person to see about a garage remote. I got a remote for $35 somewhere, but this place was asking for, what? $50??? I actually feel kind of offended and taken advantage of. Other places are way more reasonable. Okay fine, in response to the owner below, I am willing to believe that the $50 remote was not here! The rest remains true. The owner sent me a message explaining he asked for $75 for a mailbox replacement, confirming what I said. I got it done for $50 from elsewhere. Multiple other places were willing to do it for $50 actually. My point is that this place charges considerably more than some other places in the area. For the time I did use this place though, my locksmith was fast to arrive and very professional, but so are all the locksmiths I've used from this area, so unless you speak Korean (maybe that helps? I am not sure), I suggest you look elsewhere (and surely, if you speak Korean, you can still get a good deal elsewhere). read more
