Each time I have reached out to Locksmiths for services I need, he is always the first to respond and is always been willing to come out on Saturdays with last minute requests. Jin is an experience locksmith who's been in the business quite awhile, however the cost of service was 3X the customary amount, but $15 for a single plain copy is excessive. I've visited and called competitors, all confirmed what I thought the typical price would be (at the most $5). It's great that he's available 24/7 and he's able to travel. He is a veteran of his craft, the copy I was given works, which I CAN'T say to all the smiths I had before. I finally did it: locked myself out of my apartment. I went to Yelp, found Jin and Beverly Locksmith, and just 15 minutes and $80 later, all was right in my evening. It was the knob lock type, no deadbolt. He picked it in seconds. He then duplicated my key in seconds in his truck, free of charge. He also drove me to the nearest ATM to grab cash, sparing me the credit card fee (9%). I learned a bit about his story as a locksmith in LA and came away feeling far less traumatized than expected. Just got done with finally getting back inside my place. As you know, being locked out is no fun, and finding the right person for the right price is very hard. Luckily, I found Beverly on Yelp and he arrived in 10 mins. I'm currently staying Koreatown, so glad to have BLS nearby. The normal price in this evening will run you roughly $70-80, but I negotiated for $60 because that's all I had on me. I tipped an additional $5 upon finding more money at home. I wish all emergent situations were this easy! Called the locksmith at 1am needing him to change my apartment locks immediately. He gave me a quote over the phone and arrived within 10 minutes. Once he arrived and removed the doorknob and lock, I realized I needed four locks instead of two (I didn't realize one door consisted of two locks). Instead of doubling the price he gave me a deal to fix both. He went down to his truck, worked his magic, and came back up to finish the job. THIS GUY IS A SAINT! Many locksmiths say 25 bucks and 20 minutes, but actually mean 150 bucks and 2 hours. This guy came when he said he would, and charged what he said he would - 100% honest. I was locked out of my house. I called around 7. He gave me a flat rate over the phone ($70) and had me text my address. He told me via text he would be there before 8. Then he gave me an update at 7:34, he would be there in 17 minutes. Exactly 17 minutes pass and he was RIGHT ON TIME!! Like, military precision. 7:51. He was cheerful, polite, and opened my door in 25 seconds. We shook hands, I paid him the price he told me over the phone ($70), and wished each other happy new year. Then he told me I was a handsome young man and texted me later to "be well". A saint among locksmiths. I kid you not. read more

Be VERY careful of this man. He looks and sounds friendly and helpful but he is very much looking to rip certain people off. I called him this evening about 3 faulty door locks which I could not seem to lock as I had just moved into the new place. He tells me on the phone that he needs to come to assess the situation and specifically says "No charge to come and take a look". Within an hour we meet and it turns out that it was because I was not familiar with the locking mechanism of this door and he showed me how to use it. We then discussed another door that I wanted to have the locks changed and I tell him I will be purchasing the lock and have him install it (he was quoting me $350 for a lock I can get off Amazon for $100). Suddenly, he tells me that since he has shown me how to use my locks, I need to pay him $100. At that moment, I was shocked and reminded him that he specifically said "No charge." But he was adamant that he needed to be paid $100 for teaching me how to lock the door! $100??!! Of course when I started to question him further on why he didn't let me know beforehand before attempting to extort $100 for talking for 10 minutes, he started to get angry and then makes a quick exit and says that he won't take my money anymore. Be very careful of this man and even if he seems like he is doing an honest job, he is still ripping you off somehow.
