Oh BevMo, how I love thee, let me count the ways. Or rather, let me recount 1 of the many BevMos I've been to. This BevMo at the Powell Street Plaza in Emeryville is just 1 more I find myself at sometimes. The Holidays hadn't yet passed & I had 1 more White Elephant to attend. Know that if I'm bringing a gift to a White Elephant, that gift will be liquor. This BevMo had a good selection of liquor gift sets at reasonably low prices & I got just what I needed. Staff here was helpful & the store itself was nice, clean & well organized, but parking anywhere in the Powell Street Plaza is often a serious pain in the butt, neck & all points in between. My local bevmo. I come here when I don't want to travel far to get the necessary essentials for a playboy's life. They have all the wine, liquor, and beer in stock. Somethings are a good value, others not. Just depends on what you need. The staff is very helpful. My only tiff is that parking on the weekend can be a drag. All the cheap people who don't want to pay for parking at Bay Street, park in the the lot, making it very full. Plus the intersection and on Ramp from the 80 is not designed right, as well. The staff at this bevmo goes the extra mile. They greet you, ask if you need help, and consistently make sure everything is okay. I've been to other bevmos where they just walk around and ignore you. Their wine and beers are well priced. I bought a bunch of wines and some beer to stock the new apartment. An extra star for the great service. When entering, the left is hard alcohol, the right is wines. To the far right wall, there is a bunch of champagne. Beer straight to the back wall. read more

I came in to buy non-alcoholic wine for my mom. Tacarra was immediately helpful and gave perfect pointers to the section. I loved that even the non-alcoholic wines had placards talking about the flavors of those wines. The prices were reasonable, and she noted that the Ariel has better reviews than the Pre, which I had seen. Quick purchase and very satisfied. The store is neat and orderly and parking was easy. Well Bevmo Emeryville what can I say. Unfortunately during this virus pandemic everything is getting harder. But does service gotta go out the the door? My recommendation is don't buy any booze online and expect it to be ready at the time given on the website. I simply ordered 2 bottles of Sauvignon Blanc at 10am and was supposed to pick up by 11:15am-12pm. Headed over around 12ish and waited in line then was told wait for a bit. Then was given a pretty long speech about how hard their working to get all orders ready. (Understandable) I did ask if possibly she could check on my order and when I should come back. She replied "Nope" because it would make things worse. So she told me to wait until I received second email confirmation. She made it seem like it shouldn't be long. So like a dumb ass I stood outside waiting for a email for another 30 minutes. A customer that was waiting told me it took 8hrs to get his order the day before. So I took his advice and left. Around 5pm still no email but I decided to take my chances as I wanted to drink my wine with dinner dam it! This time nobody in line just me having another 5 min conversation with the employee at the door. I explained that she could of literally taken 20sec and grab the 2 bottles that were right at the front. She replied with "that's how we roll these days". I mean, come on. This store is nice & wonderful staff! The only thing I wish was that they were able to stock more cold beer. But they do have a plethora of beer in the store - it's just on shelves. I prefer to go here over the nearby Safeway purely out of convenience and It's nice not having to fight the crowd of Safeway. I also like that this store has a good assortment of different snacks. It has definitely come in handy when I'm headed to the store real quick to stock up for Sunday football. read more

I was 15 minutes late to dinner because I was here having a beer tasting for .25 cents. I tasted about 14 beers ... which meant that I drank an entire beer for about a quarter. What's not to like? I'll be back next time for the wine sale ... and maybe another beer tasting. read more

Perhaps everyone already knows this, but everyone needs to be 21 years old in order to even enter BevMo! This has happened twice to us already. Although my husband clearly looks older than 21 years old we were still told to leave the store by the employees. I'm a huge fan. The selection -- of everything -- is beyond amazing. It's such a treat when you browse the section for your beverage of choice. So much deliciousness, how do you choose? This Bevmo is clean and the employees have always been friendly and helpful. This place was great!! I didn't expect such a HUGE liquor store in Emeryville. It has everything you need and could possibly think of. It was a little overwhelming, but the staff is great about helping you find what you want. The prices were reasonable enough, and if you have a BevMo card, some of them are discounted further. Of course, being a liquor store, they will ask to see ID at the register before you purchase your items. Interestingly, they also asked for ID from whoever is with you, not just the purchaser. I completely understand that, and there was no problem with it. I believe the rule is to request ID from anyone who appears to be under 50. Bags for your purchases are an additional 10 cents each, but I'm assuming that is a California thing. However, it was fine to carry your purchases without a bag. read more

Very inefficient; cancelled my orders. Need better communication when it comes to having items not available in store.

I know things are crazy right now but I placed an order for delivery last week and didn't get 2 of the items I was charged for. It's fine if you're out of something but do not charge me for it. Especially since you're not answering phones at all for some reason. I have been trying to get a hold of anyone from BevMo to refund me so I am now trying this route. How do I get my money back? I am Livid. Orderd thru the 2 hr delivery option like I have on multiple occasions. 704pm got email stating my order has been submitted. 747pm got email that my order is ready for delivery. 747pm another email stating its been delivered. How????????????? No one knocked on my door! No one called/text me! No one Checked my ID because no delivery was made! 8pm, I call, ask for manager. He tells me they use a 3rd party (I know this).... asks for my phone number and order number, says he'll call me back. J wait a whole hr, now it's 9pm and no return call, no liquor. I call back, lady answers and proceeds to tell me the managers are busy they're understaffed, leave my number. Excuse me. Respectfully, that's not my concern, my concern is my order I haven't gotten and I'll hold. I was on hold for 15 mins! Ridiculous! I call back, incensed, got another man who actually gave a damn and figured everything out. My order was not delivered it had been sitting there at the store the whole time and is still there because he couldn't find me a driver. My Saturday night festivities are ruined at least 1 Person at that Emeryville location has decorum, intelligence and tact. 150 people for a corporate event, guaranteed delivery and they failed to show!!!!! How can you let this happen!!!!

On the relatively rare occasions where I go to a BevMo, I used to go the one in Jack London Square. I usually found the store to not be very busy, and pretty well stocked. To be fair, this was pre-pandemic, and things may be very different now. I've been to the Emeryville store three times during the pandemic. The first time, I placed an order online for pickup. Got there, and several items that I had ordered and were shown as being in stock were apparently not in stock, and had I known this before arriving in the store I might have cancelled the order. The second time I went, I was beer shopping, and what was remarkable was how many beers were unavailable, out of stock, temporarily unavailable. I found enough, but it was not a great shopping experience. I don't know whether this is a supply chain issue, or whether it is a sign of a very poor inventory tracking system. Perhaps there are other explanations as well. The third time was definitely not the charm either. It was the same issue of many of the things that I wanted being out of stock. If I try to find a silver lining it is that you end up buying things you might not normally try. The staff was friendly on each occasion, so no complaints there, but at times like these, buying liquor should not be this difficult. I may drive the extra few miles and try the Jack London Square location next time I am beer shopping. read more

If you're planning on going in store to purchase, by all means do it. But if you plan on purchasing for curbside, you can forget about it. Although they let you check in w/ your make & model, they don't bring you your items. This is my second time purchasing for curbside pick up. I gave them the benefit of the doubt the first time & said maybe they're just busy so I just did it for a second time. Both times, I ended up having to go inside anyway to retrieve my curbside items after waiting for 20mins. both times. read more

They hire new rude, idiotic people to work here who shouldn't be working in customer service and the managers are no different, the level of customer service has declined since hiring new employees. Are you on a mission to get your friends, co-workers, or family members thoroughly toasted? Have you got a tight budget and tighter schedule? No need to stoop to the lowly two-buck-chuck level...BevMo will have you looking like a generous, classy lush in no time. Cuz that's how I always want to look! This particular store is a little, shall we say, "urban." So you won't find a sommelier to help you shop, but this comes in handy when you want to zoom in and out, and fill up your cart without any "can I help you find anything"s from a nosey/ helpful staff member. I'm a huge fan of their 5 cent sale, so I always get a little sad when I have to shop at BevMo during non-sale times. But...it seems they've always got some kind of price-slashing promo going on. I was able to find some "end of vintage" wines for 40% off, like White Truck Sauv Blanc and Russian River Pinot for $6 a pop. Pretty crazy. That equated to 30 juiced up guests for under $100. Nobody knew they were drinking clearance swill - or maybe they do now! I love that it's organized by wine varietal, instead of region. Because really, I don't care where it's from as long as it's tasty. One little gripe I must vent: this particular shopping center is such a pain in the arse to navigate. There's only like one entrance and if you miss it, you've got to drive all the way around the perimeter of Emeryville to try again. Who planned this town? The short female manager (named removed for privacy - I'm not a total jerk) and her team of employees are truly an UNprofessional group. Came in here on July 4th (I know my review is a little late) to purchase some drinks for my barbeque and was met with a glaring clerk who didn't bother to accompany her stares with any sort of verbal greeting. Then after carefully selecting my beverages and bringing them to the front the manager aggressively carded myself and my older sister while the same clerk sneered and laughed at us. No clue why they were being so unpleasant to begin with as we had a very limited interaction at this point. Either way we are both of legal age at 29 and 31 and it wasn't our first time in this particular store location. Why two people needed to handle our transaction was also unclear. Unfortunately my older sister was just tagging along and hadn't thought to bring her wallet for the quick trip to BevMo. Typically I think it's customary for the one purchasing the alcohol to be carded but nevertheless the manager proceeded to yell and lecture us both. Claiming that neither of us should even be in the store. Ridiculous since I had my id and am of legal age. My sister left and I remained to complete the transaction. Both manager and clerk told me I was not welcome and refused to sell me the beverages. Their tone and level of volume was completely unnecessary. I was so stunned I could barely form the words to respond to the aggression. I have no problem complying with the law but why so angry BevMo? Isn't there a polite way to state your policy? I think there is. Sample Script: "Thank you so much for choosing BevMo! Unfortunately since your sister doesn't have her id we cannot sell you this alcohol. Sorry for the inconvenience. Please come again!" I gave up and said "Fine, I'll just go to the OTHER BevMo" since the one in Jack London is closer to my house anyway. The manager shouted "bye" while the clerk snarkily said "have a GREAT day" through clenched teeth. What is up with that? Never going to patronize this location again. And I filed a complaint with customer service. Managers should know better than to treat customers so rudely. Maybe she was mad she was working a holiday? The inventory here can be kinda sparse compared to other locations, but the items they do have in stock are always organized and displayed in a manner that makes it easy for customers to find exactly what they need. This location has a very comfortable atmosphere, some other locations rely on wide showroom floors and bright beaming shop lights to focus on a featured item, but here they allow the natural colors and bottle designs of the spirits to appeal to your senses while shopping. I like coming here for my beer/liquor needs because the prices are fair and the employees usually know how to answer my questions or solve my issues. read more

I first went here mostly because BevMo is the only place I know of in the area where I can buy Lone Star beer...I've returned multiple times because their customer service is incredible and their selection is unbeatable. On my most recent trip here to buy some Lone Star, I mentioned to my boyfriend that it would be super awesome if they were having a beer tasting that day...I guess someone heard me or I just got lucky, because a few minutes after that comment an employee approached us and asked if we wanted to participate in a summer beer tasting. For a dollar each we got to try 4 different summer beers while he told us about each one. After the tasting, we decided to skip the Lone Star in favor of some Shiner Bock Ruby Redbird, which the employee holding the beer tasting helped us find while also offering many other great suggestions according to each of our individual beer favorites. The Shiner Bock we brought home as per his suggestion was THE BEST beer I have ever tasted to date. Thanks BevMo guy, I'll be back! read more

Neither my husband nor I are too into alcohol, however, whenever we have any sort of gathering or housewarming, we always come either here (or Costco) for all our beverage needs. Just last night I got myself a significant discount off their last bottle of Mumm Napa's Cuve M (the peach one) and saved myself $6 bucks! We'll be coming back here for some beer and other wines for our housewarming this coming weekend also. It's definitely a good idea to sign up for the FREE Club card which I believe earns you points and eventually money towards your next purchase. They often times have various sales going on on different beverages so check often! This location is also pretty helpful and friendly which is only a bonus! :) read more

This is my go to BevMo. I love shopping here because the staff is always so friendly and helpful! The wait is never long when you need something out of a locked case. The store is always clean and well stocked. Everything is pretty easy to find, which is great when you just need to grab something on the go. The staff is always happy to help. There were a couple of times where they've checked other stores for something they didn't have at this location. I'm only giving it 1 star because I can't give them 0 but this is the worst BEVMO location ever! Their customer service sucks! I asked for Clase Azul tequila and they said they didn't have it, mind you on the app it said they had 11 in stock when I got there they said they were sold out and that their inventory wasn't updated. I left it at that but I just checked on the app and now they only have 10 in stock which makes no sense because "their inventory wasn't updated" lol on top of that I sat in traffic just for them to give me shitty ass service read more

Beverages and more, now you call your self Bevmo! and i say fo sho. This store has great selections of beer and wine, you can also grab gigantic bottles of any liquor for an average or discounted price. The store is really bright, clean and has a simple lay out, it is easy to find what you are looking and you can get in out in a hurry. I like how they also have soft drinks, exotic drinks and snacks, i think it would be totally awesome if they added a freezer section with pizzas, wings and party munchies! While the store is small, they surprisingly have a really good selection of items. I was able to find the bourbon, tequila, and random garnishes I needed for cocktails all in one shot. The sales associates inside go out of their way to help you, and the last time I was there, they even looked up a few things for me to check if it was in stock or not. I'm very aware of how young I look but yes I am of age. Never in all my years, even before being of age, have I been carded at the cash register just for standing with the person buying alcohol. And since I did not have my ID on me the cashier said I can either leave the store or come back with it, really????? Not quite the same customer service I received from the floor customer service reps. At any rate its yes your typical BevMo. Tons of options, beer, wine, spirits. Yea all the good stuff.
