Extremely Disappointed - Faulty Product & No Accountability…read moreI purchased earrings from 16 Suitcases on July 19th and asked about the return policy at checkout -- I was told 7 days. The next day, I came back because the earrings were clearly faulty (they wouldn't unlatch nor could I get them off the label). I was then told there's a no returns on earrings policy -- something that was never mentioned and not posted anywhere in the store. I left the earrings with the shop in hopes the owner would review them and see the issue firsthand. Over the next 3-4 weeks, I called weekly, left voicemails, and spoke with multiple staff members -- no one ever got back to me. I called again last week and was told the owner would reach out. It's now been 5 more days, and still nothing. I've been patient and respectful throughout, but this level of disregard is unacceptable. The store has both my money and the faulty earrings -- and I've received no explanation, no resolution, and no follow-up. I truly feel I've been taken advantage of. Disheartening experience from a place I expected better from.

The clerk on duty was extremely friendly and sweet. And I was pleased with their rules on consignment. You must make an appointment. Clothing must be hung, and dry cleaned because they do not have a steamer and they want to offer your clothing at the best possible condition. They accept only clothes in season which means if it is summer..they only want summer goods. Items are 50/50 split and on the racks for 90 days.

I was never told things needed to be on hangers, so I didnt. And no one seemed to mind. The second time, I brought a few bags of clothing in, only to receive some major stink eye from the owner. She was beyond upset that I would even think to bring in clothes that werent on hangers. But whatever, she took em. She was very discerning with what she took, so either she was still mad at me or was having an off day. As I looked at the items in the store, there were plenty of items that were over 3 years old, non-label brands (unless JC Penney and Sears are "brands") and really ugly. I peeked into the back room and saw bags of clothing - either stuff is still over priced (good for me) or she has too much of it and cant get it on the sales floor (bad for me). What facinated me was the process of documenting what people brought and which of those items sold - carbon paper. isnt it 2009? Not so surprising that when my consignment period ended in March, I never received a check. I have tried to call about 4-5 times to get my money, but no dice.

I then approached a different sales associatte and asked if WHBM would be receiving any long sleeve blouses or shirts soon, as the store had a lot of short sleeve tops on the racks. The associate simply replied.."yes, soon." I am an avid shopped of WHBM and I am a platinum reward member. I have never encountered such a bad shopping experience in their stores. I left the store directly after the associate responded to me. This store is not very large. So to not engage with a customer on a weekday midday with four customers, is totally unacceptable. We had a great day in River Forest, Starbucks, then Panera, stopped at Walgreens, but when we went back to our car after 3 hours, to drop off packages before going to Chico's, we had been towed by the shopping centers over industious towing policy/company. We never made it to Chico's and after a $20.00 cab ride, and $170.00 in towing for shopping TOO LONG at their stores, we will not be back to this Chico's. We'll have to go to Oakbrook, where you can shop, eat, and enjoy yourself without being towed!
