Review of Stephanie Dahm: Growing up, I only went to regular salons. where everyone has straight blonde hair. they'd do a blow out and blow dry it straight pulling out my curls as if curly hair was somehow not as presentable or pretty as straight hair is. i'd always leave with a smile and then cry in the car. this was my first time getting a haircut at a curly salon. all of the customers looked like me. it was refreshing. all of the stylists are knowledgeable on how to treat curly hair even if they don't have it themselves. stephanie taught me how to wash my hair properly. how much product to use for my hair. how to diffuse it. how to sleep on it. how to refresh my curls in the morning. the whole nine yards. if you've never had a curly haircut before or are curious to her technique, basically she cuts it dry first. snips off the dead. she detoxed my scalp from gunk and build up. washed it. diffused it and cut it when it was damp. now if you're used to going to "regular salons", you know how they pull each piece of hair away from your face really tight and snip? they don't do that here. they cut your hair as it lays. they don't yank out your curls. and better yet, you leave with the beautiful curls you walked in with, not some blown out mess that stylists believe is what salon quality hair should look like. while stephanie doesn't seem to have too many reviews, i'm here to be another positive one. you get what you pay for. there's a reason the salon down the street from you is $65. she was kind, funny, professional, and took her time perfecting every little curl on my head. 5/5 read more

This was my first time visiting a curly salon. My hair was black and felt like my curls weren't being "seen". This was my first time having any kind of highlights on my black hair so I was a bit nervous. I wanted a pop of color but not super damaging to my curls like traditional highlights w/foil. So, the pintura highlights were perfect option for me. Shay did a beautiful job! (see before & after pic) I'm so happy that I found a stylist like Shay who understood my hair and took her time doing the curly styling process and styled section by section (like I've seen on IG!). Who doesn't want juicy curls? Additionally, Shay was nice and friendly :) Side Note: When I went, it was just Shay and I in the salon that day and no one else. I ended up returning a couple weeks later to have a section of my hair fixed. Leading up to this, I had spoken w/Debbie on the phone and she was so kind and understanding. Additionally, Shay wanted to make sure I was happy w/my hair as well, so I went back to get it fixed. When I walked in the 2nd time, all of the stylists looked at me and then went back to their work. None of them greeted me or acknowledged me as I stood there. I felt very unwelcomed by them as I scanned the room for Shay. BUT THEN I saw her coming from the back area and was so happy to see her!!! Review of DR: My first appointment here was very good! My second appointment, not so much. I booked a haircut and color for the second appointment. Two separate services, and two different prices for each service. The color, wash, and set were done, but no haircut. When I reached out to the stylist and mentioned to her that the haircut was not done, and when I go to re-book I will only book for the color, since in my mind you OWE me a haircut. The response I received was "I usually do haircuts every 12 weeks. Go ahead and book color only for the next appointment, I need to set a salon price for you, and you can pay that separate". Why was none of this mentioned at the time of service!! My problem here is, if you are going to provide services, please be clear with your customers on what you provide, don't provide, how often you provide it, etc. especially when customers are paying $$$ and tipping on top of that. I really had high hopes for this place, but this situation was a complete RIP OFF and TURN OFF. read more

Went to #BFH2T for the first time today! I had a highlight, color and cut with Jo Jabsi and just love it. Jo is this larger than life character. He has years of experience, loves what he does and it shows. And, honestly, the title hair "stylist" doesn't cut it. More like hair artist! I've been told in the past that my hair is not easy to deal with. Lots of gray, straight in some areas and wavy in others. We had a brief consultation when I first came in, but he definitely had a vision so I just let him roll with it. Nothing about my hair seemed to be a challenge for him in any way whatsoever. And, he didn't cut off more than he said he would which I really appreciated! He also speaks 8 languages (in case you are looking for someone that speaks your language) and is knowledgeable about giving you the right haircut for your face shape. The highlights were beautiful too...see the close-up photo so you can fully appreciate how talented he is! And, did I mention he has a private room? Pretty cool not to have to yell over multiple blow dryers and such. About the salon itself, it was clean and organized, and the other stylists made me feel welcome. The waiting area was cozy and pretty, and I felt really comfortable there. But, I didn't feel so comfortable in the dryer chair! I kept sinking into it. A bolster pillow would be awesome, and maybe a stool to put your feet on. Other than that, it was a nice experience. I'd recommend giving Jo a try! read more

Jo did an amazing job on both me and my daughters hair. He scheduled us together so we only had to make one trip. My daughter got full highlights with trim and I had color, highlights and a cut. Jo has so much knowledge on all hair types. He took the time to explain and educate my daughter on how to improve the condition of her hair and keeping her curls looking bouncy and refreshed. He also really knows how to style hair. I never leave the salon liking how it's styled but this time I loved it and he did it all with no product which allowed it to stay beautifully styled for 3 days. Debbie did such an amazing job on my curls! I came in for a haircut and some layers and I was not disappointed. I got the session that included lessons and felt so much more educated about my curls. She walked me through every step of the process and explained to me the best ways to care for and manage my hair type all while providing excellent customer service. This salon does a great job at following Covid-19 guidelines by asking clients to sanitize their hands and social-distancing whenever possible. The salon itself was very clean and has such a nice vibe inside with the decor and all the friendliness surrounding the place. You can even buy the same products that the stylists used on your hair. I will start this by saying, 1/2 way through and I was sobbing in the bathroom. I have been here before and got a decent cut. Booked for the family on Vagaro to freshen us up before Christmas. I asked for just a trim, with a few long layers just in front. The stylist and I talked about 1 to 1.5". She seemed to take unusually small sections of hair at a time, but I thought...hey...maybe she's just super precise!! When she pulled my back hair to the front I saw things were wrong. I told her she had cut my hair much shorter than I asked?!? She said she was very sorry. When she started cutting it just "came off". To clarify, this wasn't that my hair was damaged and fell off...but somehow apparently the scissors were possessed and had a mind of their own. She also informed me then once the damage was done, oh by the way... I am a very new stylist. I tried to keep my composure but could feel the emotions bubbling up. Excused myself to the bathroom and the tears started flowing. I loved my long hair. I had went on a full color detox for over 18 months to get it in good shape...but now it was gone. My hair texture is such that if I don't have enough weight with length, it becomes very triangular. I came out of the bathroom and walked to the owner sniveling into my tissue and explained what happened. She took me right away while her 3 clients sat, and finished the cut to avoid any more problems. She was very sympathetic and understood why I was so upset saying she too had a similar experience. Why this is 1 Star vs a 2 or 3 is because what happened next. While finishing up the cut the owner repeatedly tried to convince me the stylist only took 2". I kept pointing to where my hair was and explaining it had to be at least 4" (this is through my tears as I still was crying). In the end I hated my hair, and being cursed with slow hair growth... I knew this mistake would take at least a year before my hair is reasonably long again. I went home and busted out the measuring tape and over 5" was gone. No one can mistake that for a trim!! We have since called several times and emailed and not once have they retuned a call. $28 for the cut doesn't cover the cost of the extensions I had to buy to fix my hair until it grows back out and it's deplorable they aren't stepping up to right this accordingly. read more

This is long overdue, but I'm so glad I found to BFH2T!! Growing up, I always had my hair straightened and rarely wore my hair naturally. As I got older I wanted to embrace my natural curls and turned to the internet to figure out how to get healthy bouncy curls from the heat damage, but my hair never seemed to look the way I wanted. I figured seeing a curly hair specialist would help me in this journey. I had seen a few, but no one that compares to Debbie and Ashley! They're both so knowledgeable and were happy to answer all my questions. Not only did Debbie give me an amazing cut, but Ashley took her time to show me how I can get the same results when it's my turn to style my hair at home. How my hair should feel and which ingredients to avoid in hair products. And of course taking in all this information can be hard to remember when you get home, so Debbie and Ashley reassured me that I can always call and ask questions. Breean not only did my hair for my wedding but the week before she transformed my life! It sounds silly but I came in to the salon thinking I was going to just do a trial run for my wedding hair and then leave. Fast forward a while, and BFHTT moves and eliminated Nails. I was going to a wedding, and decided to get my hair styled for the event. I booked an appointment with Samantha. Prior to my appointment I attempted to communicate with her, so she knew what I was looking for. She never responded. I arrived at the salon, and she already had a client she was working on. I almost walked out at the point that she put her client under a dryer, and started working on me. I have had my hair styled professionally in the look I wanted previously, and it has been beautiful, and lasted all day. I specifically asked Samantha not to create ringlet curls,but larger ones as in the attached picture. She washed and conditioned my hair, and spent less than 5 minutes drying it. It was damp as she used the very small curling iron, and created the ringlets I did not want. She was rushed, and I was not happy with the style. On the way home all the curl fell out. So I went home and blew it dry in my normal bob for my event. I realize Samatha is young, and I dearly love her from my mani/pedis at the old salon. I am writing this review as a learning tool for her. I would have preferred having her undivided attention, and a style that not only looked like I wanted, but lasted more the 15 minutes. read more

I booked 3 curly cuts with Stephanie for myself and two teenagers. I am happy with the cuts and especially grateful for the education of taking care of and combing the hair that my boys received. However her colleague on multiple occasions was asking her to hurry up while she was working on our hair... um I'm paying a lot for 3 curly cuts and don't want my stylist rushed. Then her colleague comments on the all the products I'm buying... just so weird to hear," and she's buying all that too" yep but I won't be back because maybe the cuts could have been even better if my stylist didn't hear hurry up multiple times or I didn't feel made uncomfortable about what I'm purchasing that was recommended. read more

I came in with an EXISTING A-line. We did a consult; I showed my sample photo (which was what I already had), and I said I did not like my front disconnected piece that dropped an inch and to cut that piece, my curls were coming through well and I wanted to embrace them, and I wanted to go over pieces that I could pull down for my lazy day ponytails. I assumed the rest was getting a trim. While my dripping wet hair was getting clipped around... (I thought for tweaking in some better curls), yet little did I know, by the end, I had lost nearly 4 INCHES off my hair AND LOST my A-line. I got a bob that curls up to my ears and hair so short only half of it goes up in a ponytail (or a low nub of a pony)! I never knew I was going in for a completely new look that day , and it looks horrible! I do not know how a " high-level curl expert" did not know how much was coming off my dripping wet hair. Mind you, this cost nearly $300 for a cut and color! That cost does not match the expertise. She did not take the time to understand my curls, nor did she do what we discussed and went down her own path without any communication! AND COLOR Which I thought was decent; I now see that I have a ring of uncovered gray throughout my hair as she did not color beyond what was close to the root. Again how does this happen with the supposed "claimed level of expertise and certification." I really should reach out for the color refund like I did with the cut. I write this because I am devastated!!! My hair growth has been set back a year, and the goal of less heat from a curling iron and embracing my curls went out the window. In an effort to be fair, I have waited a few weeks to see what my hair has done before posting my review and the verdict is in. This is by far, the worst cut I have ever received in my life. I had finally decided to grow my hair out after years of having short hair making it was a few inches past my shoulders. My hair had also developed a new wave to it that I had been loving and experimenting with over the last year. When I came in, I expressed my desire to keep the length as I wanted to grow it out and still be able to tie it back as I have 3 kids to run after. I also mentioned how it had recently become wavy but most products seemed to weigh my hair down and the waves/curls would fall throughout the day no matter what I did. My appointment was promptly changed from a returning client to the more expensive new client (I was not) and informed by the stylist that she would be giving me a curly girl cut. She promised she would keep the length but also give me layers to help accentuate my waves. She also said she would show me which products to use and how to wash and handle my hair so that it would meet its maximum potential. Against my better judgment, I put my hair's fate in her hands. The next thing I know, she is chopping layer after layer and loving every minute of it. I am horrified inside, not understanding how any of this is "keeping the length" but trying to remain a trooper as she is supposed to be the "expert" despite me saying I only wanted small layers. She then proceeds to "educate" me on all these products, which to be honest, was nothing new to me. Remember when I said most products seem to weigh my hair down? She went ahead and used 5, count them, FIVE different types of products (gels, mousse, oils, you name it!) on my hair post-wash before sending me on my way. At the end, my hair cut was choppy layers, longer on the bottom, incredibly short on top and barely even a C-wave to make out. The top layers won't even stay tucked behind my ears, that's how short she cut them. Tying my hair back in a low or mid ponytail is not even a possibility without those layers falling out to remind me what a truly horrid cut I have and tying my hair up is a no go as well without the hairs on the bottom sticking out like a hot mess. This is what I have been left with - a hot mess. Yes, hair grows. Yes, I was polite and was a good client because I was hoping this stylist knew wtf she was doing because she seemed so confident in herself when I was so questionable in something that is not my area of expertise. The lesson here? Always go with your gut feeling - intuition is real, guys. Not every hair type is the same so these stylists should not be doing the same techniques on every person that walks through the door. It is a shame because everyday all throughout the day I am reminded of how much I hate my hair now and how I wasted my money when I should've been grateful for what I had. Talk about a nice gut punch to your self-esteem even though it's "just" hair. Patience is virtue I guess and this too, shall pass. read more

I normally never leave reviews for any places but I had too for this place. I had booked an appointment for pintura highlights with Debbie a few weeks back. When booking the appointment I did extensive research and looking at review for which stylist I wanted. I ended up choosing Debbie because I felt more comfortable with her. Another stylist had far more open availability but I chose not to go with her because she seemed new to the game and also I didn't feel comfortable with her doing my hair. About 2 hours before my appointment I get a text from Debbie requesting that I come in sooner than my appointment. I ended up showing up about 40 mins earlier and as soon as I entered the salon Debbie handed me over to another stylist (whom I did not want). She simply stated "shay will be doing your hair today". I was already anxious and upset at this point. If I wanted to have the other stylist do my hair I wouldn't have waited 3 weeks out to book since her availability was wide open the entire time. Debbie only had me come earlier so that shay could be done with her day sooner since I would be her last client. I wish I was at least offered the chance to say no to sit with another stylist that I was not comfortable with I decided to stay open minded and sat with Shay to have my hair done. I immediately felt uncomfortable with her lack of experience, in going back and forth mixing colors in bowls which were incompatible with metal. She eventually told me "your hair pattern is going to loosen up just so you know". Keep in mind I have had this technique done on my hair for the last 3 years over 6 different times now and have experienced no issues with changes in curl pattern (that's why I choose this method of highlighting). I came into the salon with dark roots and outgrown highlights. I simply asked for (lighter and brighter and to make sure my roots also lift to the same level). She started telling me more than halfway through the process "just so you know your roots won't lift as much". I ended up walking out with dark roots still- which barely lifted at all. (I've never had this issue in the past when doing this technique) my roots always lift because other stylists go back and mix a different amount of developer to make sure everything lifts close to equally. My hair honestly looks more like an ombré at this point which is not what I wanted at all. During the entire process Shay also was extremely rough with my hair. I'm someone who can stand a lot of pain when it comes to detangling- but shay used so much force and tension when highlighting my hair. I was shocked with how she was not gentle at all. Not only that but I also heard her complain MANY times about how coloring hair is hard, mixing colors is difficult, and how doing hair is constantly changing and difficult for her to keep up with techniques. Imagine how uncomfortable I felt while sitting in her chair while hearing all of this. I won't be coming back here. Update: I was never given a chance to choose to decline service from another stylist. I was IMMEDIATELY put in a different stylists chair upon walking in. As a salon/ stylist you should ask the customer who booked you specifically if they are comfortable instead of ASSUMING. read more

So I've been wanting red hair for almost 4 years now, I had to wait for my hair to be completely virgin because I pretty much fried it off So I was SUPER excited.
