Summary: cut was great, "deva" experience was a waste of money. Pros: - Great cut! Briana cut my hair dry, and even though she pulled and played with it and lost some of the curl before the cut, it's awesome! - She consulted an updo stylist at the salon about keeping some length on my damaged hair so I can still style it for my wedding. - She offered to trim a piece of damaged straight hair anytime I need her to, so I don't make the mistake of chopping it off before my wedding. Cons: - 30 min late (pro - they actually called and told me about 1/2 hour before my appointment, but then they were still another 15 min late) - A lot of hair salons cut curly hair dry now, and not under the guise of a "Deva" cut, it's just common sense. - The "Deva" experience for me wasn't what I expected. I thought maybe we'd talk about my curl type, the cut that would work best for my face shape, what products to avoid, etc. Instead I had a dry cut, the Deva products were used on me, I was plopped under the drying hood then diffused after she finished another client. For $81 it seemed like a waste. I've had curly hair for 30+ years now. Nothing I learned was groundbreaking, guess I was just hoping to have more knowledge from the experts afterwards. Not sure if all salons offering "Deva" cuts are like this, will definitely update this if I try any others out. read more

While the products they used on my hair were good, I clearly said at the beginning of the cut that I wanted a very minimal amount of length to be cut off. At the end of the appointment I found almost 3 inches of hair cut off from my whole head. When I told them that they cut off too much they just bypassed my concerns saying that it looks way shorter because it's curly, which was just an excuse. They kept telling me how good I looked and made me feel like my issues with the cut didn't matter. They are nice people but they need to do a better job at truly listening to their clients and not just having a field trip doing whatever they want to your hair. I got this cut three days ago and am still very angry about it. I have been spending the last 4 years growing out my hair from a pixie. No dying or harsh treatments and now a big chunk of my progress is gone with a cut that I don't even feel looks that good on me. I really hope they learn from this and do better next time. read more

My friends, who have very curly hair, have had great experiences with this Salon, so thought I'd try it out. My hair is "wavy curly" at most so I tried the "Curly Girl" cut, which did not work out well for me. There were uneven pieces everywhere, and it really didn't work as a finished cut. The haircut took a long time as she was working on someone else during my appointment. My daughter also had a curly girl cut which looked worse than "cheapie" cut. I thought I'd try it out one more time as the salon had sent me a coupon, so I signed up for the normal cut. The stylist was late, hassled me over the coupon, and VERY aggressively upsold her products...which made the appointment uncomfortable. On top of this, she was just plain rude, making some interesting comments to me about my hair and also about other clients. Prices went up this month, so the cuts are even pricier than before, and definitely not worth the money! read more

I'm writing to gives all the stars I can give to Danielle, the new addition to the salon. I was a little hesitant at first in deciding to use the 1.5 hr massage I got from my hubby for my bday. I heard Danielle was good and boy was that true. She gave me an amazing massage to get out all the tension in my shoulders and relaxed my body to the point that I was actually relieved from stress. I'm going to have to agree with a prior review, and my review is long overdue..... 1. the young gal who did my daughters hair was pretty good, helped her maintain her huge mound of hair, had some great scrunching tips, great products, thinned out her long layers so it was a bit more smooth but it's WAY overpriced for a trim style and a big push on a teenager to convince her Mom she HAD TO HAVE 4 new products, hence the huge bill for a 15 year old. It's called uncomfortable guilt. 2. Regarding the prior review from a Yelper talking about bringing the ego down of the owner Debbie, couldn't agree more. Come down to Earth, possibly sign up for a leader ship and communication class. You may have a few good stylists that keep your business going but you exude nothing that says a humble hard working owner. Your behavior is erratic, scary and lacking in authenticity. 3. I can't say enough good things about this place. Debbie knew I wanted to go a bit blonder since the last coloring. I hadn't highlighted my hair in awhile (try 2 years+) so I wanted to ease back into the color. She knew exactly what I wanted the last time and it was just enough to get used to and then want MORE! So, I went in to get more highlights and she said she "had a plan" and of course I trust her to do whatever. She always knows what's best, rather than me trying to describe something that may not work for me. I leave it to the boss. Again, it was a great punch of color and yet so natural. Then she asked if I wanted it straight or curly, and we went for the curls. I'm not kidding when I tell you the minute I curl my hair it falls out within 15-20 minutes. I have bone STRAIGHT hair. Debbie worked her magic once again. I was done at 3:30 and those curls lasted into the night for a Christmas party, slept on them, and woke up with a full head of curls. Amazing! I was introduced to "rock star" nails by Chelsea which I would LOVE to have done for New Years Eve! And I met Danielle the massage therapist; my dad says it's the best massage he's ever received and he is a frequent massage goer. Debbie has a back room set up with great trinkets: purses, candles, jewelry, bachelorette party gifts, ornaments, etc. You can do one-stop Christmas shopping for the girls or guys in your life. I've had a few appointments here, and I've walked away mildly satisfied each time. Prepare to spend way more time in here than you'd expect - the stylists like to take their time...talking to each other. I was double booked each time, and it's a chaotic energy in the salon. Despite having ringlets when I do my hair at home, I was told I had waves and they styled my hair accordingly. I was way happier when I restyled it myself, but I didn't feel confident that my cut was the right one when they styled it. Finally, the prices are quite high. I just got my hair done in a salon close to the city for less (and way better results). Overall, if you're looking for a relaxing and high-end salon experience, look elsewhere. read more

So... I've been coming to get my hair done by Brianna for years! I recently got my hair done at another salon because I couldn't handle the commute from SF to Livermore last month. As a result of this other salon, the blonde in my ombre has turned brassy; my ombre looked more like blonde tips because they started it soooo low. Furthermore, my hair looks and feels fried. I found this wonderful gem via Yelp as I was searching for a local place that specializes in Devacuts. I scheduled an appointment with Tiffany Ramos after viewing her work on her social media pages. Every single interaction with her was extremely professional. I was super nervous about getting my haircut by someone new! I'm embracing my texture after damaging my hair with years of bleaching and a bad hair cut. As soon as I walked into the salon I was greeted by a warm smile and to my surprise a small gift! I was given a tour of the entire salon and was introduced to the owner of the salon who was also extremely professional and friendly! I immediately felt at ease! I was amazed at how the salon is a true head to toe salon. When I finally sat down in Tiffany's chair, I felt comfortable with her. She was so warm and friendly. She listened to my concerns and she nailed it! I wanted volume without butchering my hair as I have been trying to grow it out. I basically told her I beautiful sexy curls and that's what she gave me! She talked me through the conditioning process and styling process. She explained how important it is to properly condition my hair as my curls crave moisture. Overall I am extremely happy with my hair cut/ style but the icing on the cake was the warmth of the salon and the high level of customer service. i have been looking for a new salon since I moved to Brentwood in april and I have finally found it. I received a Spa gift certificate and decided to treat myself do a new color/do after doing it myself for several years. Everyone i came into contact was sweet as pie, I was offered a beverage while i was waiting. Amanda did my hair and it looks FAN FRIGGIN TASTIC =) I was there for awhile but I walked in and got my hair done, no appointment so I did not expect a small wait at all. I came in for a quick cut and walked out a whole new woman! Liz and Debbie took my boring flat hair and breathed new life into it with a beautiful shag cut. Being from out of state it has been unbelievably hard to find a good salon I feel comfortable in as well as a hairdresser that really listens to how I want my hair to look. I can not express how much I appreciate Bri and the girls at BFH2T. Relationships are always challenging at times but this girl knows hair. Sometimes I want to go blonde (my hair is dark) she tells me what to expect and knows when it comes down I will not like the process. I also have natural curly hair and her cuts are great they give me instant volume and washes later I still have a ton of body. She has advised me plenty of times to NOT do certain colors but I'm stubborn and want it regardless of what she advised me to do. Unfortunately every single time I have hated it, I have learned to always listen. I admire her skills, honestly and letting me do things even though she is against them. I just received my first haircut from this salon, the hair stylist that I had was Bri and not only is she just a sweetheart, but she really knows her stuff. She gave me tons of tips on how to help the frizz in my long, thick wavy hair. She also told me about other packages that would do wonders for my hair. She never tried to "sell me" on something that wouldn't be beneficial for my hair. She styled my hair how I imagine she would style her own hair because she was so detailed on everything so it was perfect! As for as the salon itself, it was very comfortable. I realized the other day I need to update this review. Stopped going here years ago after getting two amazing Deva haircuts and then two 'what-the-heck-happened' cuts. I was initially impressed by the Deva technique and thought I'd found my new salon, but the Deva cut seemed to cease after the first two appointments. After that my hair was cut by taking a huge amount of hair and pulling it to the opposite side and cutting the entire thing into a blocky layer. Confused by the experience, I thought it must be a fluke and returned one more time for a Deva cut. Nope. Same horrible layers with none of the attention to the curls as before. I am really torn to write this review. This is my second time coming to the salon. The customer service is amazing and the staff is really nice. The first time I came to the salon I had such an amazing experience with my stylist who was very informative about my curly hair. After my haircut, my hair was soft, bouncy and rejuvenated. I didn't think my hair was capable of curling like that again. Last week, I came in and was seen by a different stylist and my experience was not so much up to par as my last. I honestly feel like I paid over $100 just to get my hair shampooed and conditioned and to get a little snip. When I came before I was taught how to wash and style my hair and techniques to utilize and this stylist did not do anything along those lines. They say that every stylist is a "curl specialist" but I beg to differ. Even when my haircut was finished my hair was still dry and was so stiff because she used so much gel. My hair didn't even last a day in a protective style. I would not recommend this salon for curly hair customers. read more

Had been going to this salon for years, but will absolutely not be going back. Booked an appt with a specific hair dresser, but felt like I was in an assembly line with how many people she was working on at the same time. Went in for a blonde balayage, but came out with uneven color and what looked like grown out roots. After reaching out to hair dresser about my concerns, she acted like she didn't see anything wrong with how my hair came out when she should know since she's a "professional". She was just super snotty and rude about the whole situation. Great place if you don't mind spending the whole afternoon listening to gossip trash talk in a small area where you can't escape. The hair stylist would clip a little, talk with her hands, take a break to do something else, ask another staff member to wash another clients hair. Like a cut and color needs to be a tag team! Another client was getting her nails done, getting drunk on wine offered by the salon, being loud and obnoxious with inappropriate sexual subject matter. The salon itself is very cozy and beautiful, but the staff are unprofessional. Go if you have nothing better to do with hours of your day to come out with a cut that is mediocre at best. read more

I had my first, a few in between, and last Deva cut from this salon. I have been following the "curly girl method" since 2007 and since then I have had haircuts from all kinds of stylists. For reference, my hair is curly wavy and fairly coarse (a prominent 3a if you catch my drift and for you devas, a distinguished Botticelli gal). Needless to say, I have had the owner (Debbie) cut mine every time because I was afraid to venture away from the "master stylist" since I didn't want to risk my hair being ruined (pretty ironic right?). I was wowed the first and second time she cut my hair as a "deva inspired stylist". This was my fourth haircut and it was not what I asked for, it seemed like the best haircut I had were my first two and one I came to have her fix when I went back to a "regular" stylist (definitely on the right track)- I was always terrified of my haircuts as a curly girl, and I considered Debbie to be my savior in that regard. I thought she would be my stylist for the rest of my life; I would drive an hour and a half to cut get my hair cut because it was worth it. Period. I would always have it styled using the three step and be stuck under the burning dryer for an eternity as she rotated cutting other client's hair without another word-because it was worth it, or so I told myself. This inevitably became a chore. I sucked it up every time, but now it's just ridiculous. I know curly heads take a bit longer, but I don't like being rushed through a service I pay a professional to do correctly. It is absurd that a curly individual has to pay more for something that is naturally how their hair grows -so that a professional can grace them with their presence and "cut it the right way"(as if I don't spend money on products or time), but that is another rant. I didn't mind paying a pretty penny to get my hair cut right. However, I just don't think everyone can always juggle clients effectively without compromising quality over quantity. Two people had their hair cut between my appointment and the girl washing my hair wasn't exactly doing the best job; if I wanted to go to a beauty school to get my hair done, I would. Meanwhile, I'm being snipped and bending over (literally) like some blindfolded Jackson Pollock painting-terrifying when the tool is scissors. I'm tired of getting my hair cut like I'm a damn bush with legs; I'm not giving these people $$$ to do me a favor "pruning" lol. I take damn good care of my hair, and last time I checked an inch wasn't the size of my palm. The unreliability and possibility of having a "dud" haircut just isn't worth it. I walk into this salon feeling like a million bucks (damn priceless), leaving a Ben, and walking out feeling worthless. Now, that's an evolution, ransacked from head 2 toe-real cute lol. Moral of the story? Not every expensive hair cut is amazing and not every "regular" stylist should be taken for granted, never get too comfortable with a professional because even those you trust can become scissor happy my friends. It's happened to me and it sucks. I thought my bad hair cut days were over, but I've been blessed with a wake up call. I was DEVAstated, but it will grow back with time. Don't go here if you know what you want in terms of cut and color. Debbie and I talked about the style a few days before. I had a picture of what I wanted that we looked at before she started. Lowlights were simple- match my natural dark hair. I ended up with a different cut then we agreed on. The length was 4- 8 inches shorter than she told me she was doing. I wanted blunt cut and ended up with a head of different lengths. The color is not what we talked about. (In fact I have been told by others that the color is dull, unattractive, mousy). The lowlights were very light and my roots are already 1/4". When I asked why the color wasn't what she said she was going to do- Debbie said she was going to do baby steps. Translation???- she messed up and now I get to pay to have it done again. Debbies reaction to me not liking it and asking why she didn't do what we talked about?? ARTISTIC VISION!!!!!! She is an artist!!!!!! Plus she was quite unpleasant and angry with me. I asked her to trim the length to make it blunt, getting rid of some layers- she refused! I hate my hair. I hate the color. What a waste of $160. So far I haven't found a single person, except for the artist Debbie, who even likes it. read more

We have been coming to Beautiful From Head 2 Toe for 4 years now. Debbie and her team have always been amazing and my husband and I always laugh our heads off when we are there! Such a positive environment. Oh yeah, and best hair cuts anywhere. We drive 45 miles to come here because no one else cuts hair like Debbie does Just wrapped up another appointment and lovin' my cut!
