I went to Sara Professionals after seeing it recommended on TikTok, where several people shared positive experiences. I decided to check it out for myself and came in today. I was greeted by Sara, the owner, who said she would be doing my eyebrows. Right after I sat down, she immediately commented that my eyebrows were "zig-zagged" and told me I needed to stop overplucking. That honestly caught me off guard, because I've been intentionally growing my brows out for over a month and have been threading elsewhere every 2-3 weeks. My brows have gotten a bit thin, yes, but I wasn't expecting such a blunt critique right away. When I explained this to her, she seemed shocked and didn't really believe me. She did explain her process and suggested tinting since my brows are sparse, which I agreed to. She threaded my brows, applied the tint, and explained that I should let them grow for 4-5 weeks before coming back so they don't look as sparse. From a distance, they looked okay, though it was hard to really tell with the small mirror provided. What really disappointed me was the pricing. There's a sign posted that says eyebrows are $10 and tinting is $15. When I was charged $38, I was very taken aback. Sara said she hadn't updated her sign since 2010, but that wasn't communicated beforehand, and I felt blindsided at checkout. Overall, while the service itself was fine, the lack of clear pricing and the way the consultation started made me uncomfortable. I personally don't think I'll be returning, mainly because I felt overcharged and not properly informed upfront. read more

Before Sara, through some inconsistent waxing and plucking, my eyebrows were thin, asymmetrical and one was perpetually arched. Now they are full and even and look exactly how I want them. I was super excited to learn of a threading salon in my neighborhood. I've been in Chicago for a few years now and still haven't found my go to threading place yet. I came here on a Saturday afternoon and the place was totally empty. I was promptly seated in the chair, but didn't feel super welcomed or anything. The entire experience was very odd. She was a bit critical of my brows, which I actually think look nice. I typically just get them cleaned up so there's no crazy shape or anything to them. She didn't ask me questions, but proceeded to tell me things that were wrong with them, like how I need to stop plucking them. I told her I actually get them threaded and don't pluck, and she didn't believe me and proceeded to argue with me further about that. That should have been my cue to leave, but I know sometimes communication can get lost in translation and other cultural misunderstandings so I let it go. Plus, I really needed to get threaded and could handle the interpersonal stuff if she somehow ended up being an amazing threader. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Even though I specifically told her to keep the shape and only do a little clean up, when she was done, I clearly had a new shape. They were shorter and thinner, and perhaps the most tragic of all, there was a clear mistake where she definitely took off a chunk of hair in the middle of the brow near the front. I pointed it out to her and she said that's how it was before. At that point, you can't do anything about it but wait for it to grow back and fill it in with liner in the meantime so I wasn't about to continue the conversation. As I was about to pay, she asked me if I had been there before. I told her I lived in the area and this was my first time here. Upon hearing that I lived in the area, she become noticeably friendlier and asked me to grow out my brows and come back. Definitely not! I hate writing bad reviews, especially for local businesses, but honestly, brows are such a sensitive thing, and I would not recommend coming here for yours. Good luck out there. I have been going to Sara since the age of 14 and I am now 21. I followed Sara even after her move from the California/Milwaukee location and will continue doing so if that were to ever be the case again. She was the first and still is the only person I trust with my eyebrows. She has never disappointed! Her eyebrow tinting is probably one of my favorite new additions to the services she offers as I have pretty thin eyebrows to begin with. I also go to Sara for my haircuts usually consisting of slight trims She makes sure to focus on getting rid of just the unhealthy bits and nothing more because she knows I love to keep as much length as possible! She is an absolute sweetheart and feels like family to me. I notice she has that relationship with a lot of her clients whenever I walk in so I find it difficult to believe some customers may feel otherwise. One thing I find hilarious is that if you ever compliment and ask someone usually from the Logan Square area where they go to get their eyebrows done you'll hear Sara's name come up 9/10 times! A bit confusing since she moved there was really no way for her to notify her clients that she was moving and her hours of operation are not very consistent. I had been going to sara for about 4+ years now. A friend from school had recommended her. At first I was very pleased that I even recommended a couple of my friends to her. When i began to get my work done with her she charged $8, and she clearly had a sign up stating the service was $8 but somehow she would end up charging me $10 + tip. I paid up because I liked her work.... Fast forward to today, I am currently searching for a new eye brow lady. The last time I went to see her, i got completely fed up. I told her all i wanted was a quick clean as i have thick eyebrows. She literally left me with no eyebrows. Brows have never looked so good. I've been getting them threaded for years as I find this technique gives me the best shape. The girl at my last spot recently took too many hairs off my right brow (for a second time) so I was looking to find a new place. I'm glad I found this little gem.
