Bought a couple cycling bib shorts and knickers that was about $150 each from BicycleBuys a few years ago. Total cost was about $650 after taxes. Not sure what was the brand. Didn't liked how the shorts and knickers feel when worn. The design may look good but it wasn't as comfortable as how I liked it to be. I called and emailed them for a return and refund. On the description of the return policy it never stated that there would be a $35 restocking fee per item returned. Nobody from this company said anything about it too. I shipped back the items and almost 2 weeks later I gotten a refund. But the refund wasn't completely full. I called the company and once they've got a hold of my return items they've then tells me of this mysterious restocking fees. Finally I realized I got ripped off $175 in restocking fees over return items I didn't liked. I only tried one bib shorts and one knicker. The rest of the items haven't been opened. I bought a Marin Fairfax I on Friday of last week. It arrived on Monday (yesterday). There were no assembly instructions, apparently according to the wishes of the manufacturer, who wants you to take it in to a dealer to have it put together. I called the store and they were still there. The guy who answered told me about the potential pitfalls in assembly. My confidence restored, I went ahead and put the bike together. I rode it to work today (Tuesday) and it was great! An excellent bike, at a very good price, delivered unbelievably quickly, with excellent customer service. After browsing online amongst a wide selection of bikes I zoned in on a specific one and saw that Bicycle Buys had it in stock. To make sure I reached out to them via the email on their website. The response was very prompt and Marc was extremely helpful with any other questions I had regarding the bike. I went ahead and placed the order and received a tracking number after the weekend. My bike arrived in 5 days and was brand spanking new and even if it had traveled from East Coast to the West the box was surprisingly in excellent shape. I was able to assemble the bike and make any adjustments needed but my Marin MTB was pretty much dialed-in out of the box. BAD NEWS BUSINESS. Very sketchy. I normally don't post reviews but my experience was so ridiculous I'm doing so as a warning to potential customers. If the company feels this is unfair, I suggest addressing your horrendous business practices and customer service. My experience: AUGUST 6 - ordered a pair of Giro Monaco II gel gloves and was promptly charged the full amount. Nothing showed up for a couple of weeks. Called to inquire and was told the gloves were on backorder but should be available "within a few weeks". After another three weeks or so, I called again. Same answer, "should be a few weeks". OCTOBER 6 - emailed them to inquire. No response. October 14 - emailed them again and requested the gloves be sent or my credit card be refunded immediately. No response. October 20 - called (now for the third time) and spoke with a rep who assured me he would either ship the gloves or refund my account and call me by the end of the day. Never called back. October 21 - called and had to threaten them with being reported to the Better Business Bureau for a supervisor to get on the phone, gruffly say I'll refund your account and then hang up. That's 2.5 months if you're counting. This is an honest review and one I hope serves as a warning to would-be customers. I chose to write this because others have had a similar experience. I want more and more people to discover the joy of cycling! To that end, we certainly don't need clownish behavior from bike businesses. read more

A shipping label was created a day after, but didn't receive any movement for two weeks. I follow up with them by e-mail inquiring about the shipment and was told "the shoes were discontinued by the manufacturer" with no further information. So I ask then when I can expect my refund and they tell me the refund was processed already. I ask them a few days later to confirm that the refund was processed as I hadn't seen it and they told me to wait 3-5 business days. Nervous by their unreliability, I call them a week later. Surprisingly, the guy on the phone handled it professionally and seemed sincerely apologetic. The refund wasn't processed like I was told by e-mail, but he said he'd do it right away. But as everyone said, there's something seriously sketchy about this business and I caution anyone who orders from them. Read the poor reviews before using this company. Attempted to do business before I checked for myself. After speaking with a person from the company, Mark, I decided this was not a trustworthy operation. Working as an investigator within a law enforcement organization I was taken back when they wanted another credit card after my bank had already authorized and provided payment to them a day before. I had previously spoken with Mark and asked him to call me back if he had any issues with my credit card. After not hearing back 24 hours and confirming my bank authorized the transaction and had no issues with payment I called back. Bicycle Buys again requested another credit card for payment with Mark placing the blame on pay pal. I do not use pay pal due to the amount of fraudulent scams out there. I paid Bicycle Buys directly from their own website. After a 10 minute debate with Mark I decided to end my experience with this company and make my issue public so you can choose to use this unreliable company. I was hesitant to use this company based on so many vigorously negative reviews. However with stock the way it is during covid I took a chance: I found a pair of the shoes I like in my size on BB's website on a Sunday but called to make sure they were in stock. The gentleman who answered (same voice as the phone recordings) didn't seem to really want to take the time to confirm, but did look in the computer and said they had one pair left and the best way to order it was to follow through on the web order. I did that and received a confirmation email quickly. When Tuesday rolled around and I hadn't received a "shipped" email I called. The young man said that it should ship either that day or the next and that I should have it well before my stated need of "next week". Pleasant enough and reasonable. When I still didn't receive an email telling me my order shipped on Wednesday I called again. I felt I needed to stay on top of these guys based on some of the nightmares I had read. I was told that they were a little behind, normally it's a 2-3 day turnaround and there's nobody there on the weekend (so Monday was day 1). I pushed back a little saying that I really wanted to give them a good review and please try to get it out the door today. He said he would do his best to but could make no promise. Remember: this guy is customer service, not the one who would pick and ship the order. Later that day I received the "your order has shipped" email with a tracking number. Checking the tracking, it said my shoes would be here the next day. I thought that a little optimistic. Well I'm here to tell you that they indeed did arrive by mid afternoon on Thursday. all in all it was a good enough experience and, although not Amazon Prime in terms of when the order shipped, they made up for it by not cheaping out on shipping and getting it here the day after it did get picked and shipped (FedEx picked it up at like 6pm). i definitely think that had I not been pleasantly insistent it might have taken more than a week to get them, but I am confident I would have received the shoes, and really: when the only place you can find a pair of shoes that you know and love in your weird European size has a bit of an organizational/processing issue, you take what you can get. Love the guys at Bicycle Buys. My wife(then girlfriend) and I purchased bicycles from there several years back. With small kids and general life those bikes remained in storage for a number of years. When we recently took them out of storage, with rusting and flats, we were pretty sure our bikes were good as gone. When I brought my bikes to the owner, Neil he made a promise that after some servicing the bikes would be as good as new and boy he was right. Replacement of a chain, some nuts and bolts, along with a tire tube, I'm now good to go for the rest of the summer. I'm excited but more importantly my wife is thrilled. I bought a set of heavy duty adult training wheels for my 96 yo dad. These wheels are very sturdy and well made.In addition, I am really pleased with the way this merchant stands behind their products. Twice I have needed to ask them to send replacement parts and both times they have included them in their warranty (after asking me for pictures-perfectly understandable) without an argument. Marc in the shop there has been more than helpful and responsive after the sale. This is just good business practice, but it is not always something you can count on over the internet.
