This place is cool. My rear bike tire needed fixing so I came here for assistance. It's conveniently located from the crib so that's where I'm going. Good thing they were nice and helpful. Seemed pretty busy and full inside, but they were personable and took care of me. I left my bike for a few cuz they were full and decided to come back before closing time which they appreciated. It cost me $50 bucks (more than the cost of my bike) to give me a new tire and re-align the wheel, lube the gear, etc. (I don't remember what they actually did). But I got hooked up with the tire for free since my old one wasn't in the best condition...yeah I'm pretty easy. read more

Everyone does seem to be very friendly, however for bicycle rentals this probably isn't the place to go as they have a very limited selection and nothing to fit a person 5'7 and under. This seemed very odd to me, and I'm assuming they focus mainly on the retail portion of the business. If they're advertising as a rental facility though, they should offer bicycles to fit people of all sizes (I'm 5"6 and never thought that to be outside of the norm?). I found the service excellent and the employees were very helpful and knowledgeable. I had received an estimate for a tune up for $195 at another bike shop. I went here to Bike Express and they knew a lot of details of my bike. I didn't even know there was a recall on my bike peddles or something like that. So they were able to replace just about everything in the middle (I don't know what you call the parts. :) ). The cost of the tune up was $50 and I have practically a brand new bike. I can tell it's a great bike shop as it's always busy with students and folks like me. It's worth the effort to go here. read more

Both my wife and I bought our new bikes here and each time it was a great experience. Both times we were shown several models and not pressured to buy what we didn't need. The staff obviously cared more about getting the right bike than selling the most expensive one. Each bike comes with a year's worth of service and they request that you bring it back in after 100 miles for a quick tune up. It's a small shop that's very popular, so it does tend to get crowded - but I'd much rather be there than any of the big stores we also shopped at. read more

Upon first walking in I realized how small the place was and packed with everything needed. Ive gone in to buy a bullhorn handlebar,stem and just recently brakes with ease. Walk right in,asked for what I needed,payed and Walked away pretty happy. The prices are fair and the staff are pretty nice. My wife wanted a basket for her bike. Bicycle Express didn't carry them. It's a small shop, and they didn't have much in the way of accessories. In all fairness, maybe they had them tucked away somewhere, but we didn't see them. It was busy, so we didn't bother to ask. Went in yesterday afternoon after I had blown a tube riding to work downtown. They replaced it in a couple of minutes and rewrapped one of my bars for free. An hour later the new tube sprung a leak so I brought it back after work and they replaced it with a different brand of tube on the spot, no fee. Update: Chuck (the owner) found the review that my mom wrote under my yelp account regarding her frustrating experience at bicycle express. He called me and offered a refund on the services. He also offered to do the job himself the next time we have any issues with the bike. That was kind of him and he did a great job amending a bad situation. While riding to a BBQ the other day, my back tire blew up like an M-80! I have a 1970s Sears cruiser, with very old tires. I called Bicycle Express, because I got a cushy new seat there last summer. The owner was very friendly and told me a good time to bring the bike in. I needed two tubes and two tires and he was done in 30 minutes! He also oiled the old rusty chain. I was shocked at the low price I had to pay. The owner even helped me put the bike in the back of my car. Now I'm ready to roll tonight! I will return here for any of my bicycle needs! read more

I was recommended this place by a classmate when I needed a tube replace on my mountain bike. I decided to give it a try, and it was definitely worth it. I walked in and gave them the tire and wheel, and the old lady at the front desk went and picked out the new tube and immediately on of the mechanics started the install.
