Excellent small bike shop right downtown. I go here when I have trouble with my bike (flat tires, tune ups, etc.) or just to see what accessories they have. The staff is super friendly and will do everything they can to help you. I was browsing there once several months ago for a bike bag to go on my trap, and the owner saw my trap and said that his wife had the same kind I did with a bag fitted for it. He offered to sell the bag to me for a significantly reduced price. Needless to say, I have been very grateful for this and will definitely keep coming back here. read more

I rented a road bike from here and Chuck took care of me. I rented the bike for a weekend but ended up postponing the trip because of weather. Chuck gave me a credit for the rental and told me to come back once the trip was set. When I came back nearly a month later, Chuck explained there were no more rentals because of a bike party that night. He instead gave me a brand new bike to take on my trip. The rental included included a helmet and bike lock. Bike was excellent and so was the entire staff. Definitely recommend visiting Chuck and his staff for any cycling needs. read more

Love this Bicycle shop....Very happy!: Walked in knowing somewhat what I wanted. Gave them my price range, and they gave me a whole array of options. I did some prices comparing the next few days, and then finally walked out of their store with a great bike at a great price. They also gave me a folder with all sorts of info. Bike information, map of bike trails in San Jose, coupons for free tune up, flat repair, misc items, more stuff than I was expecting. Charles and Jim tell it like it is & won't waste your money but you might spend some time in the shop because they help whoever comes in and usually won't stop what they're doing. But when its when it's your turn...you get their undivided attention....and you can often get your quick bike need fixed that day for a price unheard of at other bike shops. Want fancy clothing and gear...go somewhere else. I have been riding for years and when I went to this place to get a tune up the place is small and filled with parts and bikes and no guys with this high price crap these guys have true knowledge of what they have and I have been going their ever sense.Tune ups are killer! I bought a bike from BE and got a great deal.If you go their you will get what you need. They even lone out tools,where can you go and a place that does that. I love this bike shop! They are the nicest people! Typically there aren't a lot of people working so you have to wait you turn but i am a patient person so its not problem for me. It gets crowded on saturdays so if your the type of person that has no patients at all i suggest you go on a week day or a rainy day. There prices are amazing!! I dont really need anything for my bike but I like this place so much I find myself going there and ending up buying something because the prices are unbeatable. Bicycle service is cheap here! It's great. My deraileur on my road bike was completely out of alignment and had issues. Chuck fixed it right there on the spot and had me ride it afterwards to make sure I was satisfied. He only charged me $6 for labor. Thanks Chuck! read more

I love this place! As far as bike shops go, they're pretty cheap for parts and tools. Their employees are knowledgeable, too. I asked one staff member to look at my crank because it apparently seemed deformed. He gave me some good advice and made a small 5 second adjustment: immediate results! My Favorite Bike shop in San Jose!

Went in to get my fork get an extended thread. Turned out great and my weird MTB fixie got sold! (Thanks Chuck) Kind of a grimy place but the rates are affordable and I can't be any more happy about that. My number one hookup for parts and pieces raves about this place and how they can get most of any job done. This shop feels more humble and modest and doesn't seem like they're there to overprice and rob people of their money... which I think is a great company standard! I couldn't give it 5/5 stars because I haven't been there enough but so far, I look forward to going back and getting more jobs complete. read more

Went there hoping to buy a new bicycle, but they didn't have much variety to choose from and the customer service was pretty average too.

I went there a couple of time for a few parts I need for my bike project. The staffs here are awesome and really nice. Service is quick. The place is tiny though, but hey, it feels like home. The guy with "hipster" beard is super kind. I didn't speak English very well, yet he took his time tried to talk to me and made sure I get what I really need. Service was overall fast, and easy. The people who run the shop are amazing and friendly to whom ever walks through the door. I have been to the shop two times due to flat tires on my bike and they were able to get me in and out as fast as possible. $10 charge on fixing my tires was doable and affordable. Bicycle Express is OG when it comes to bike culture in San Jose. I bought my Peugeot U0-10 in the late seventies (from Foxworthy Bike Shop). Only place I've taken it for tune-ups and repairs since they opened (around '82, I believe) is this gem of a bike shop on William Street in downtown SJ. Amazing people... amazing service! read more

Took my 10 speed to have the wheels checked. He confirmed my suspicion that the valve was damaged & replaced the innertube, gave me valve caps ($3.00 value) for free, charged me $2.50 for an adapter (normally costs around $5.00). I went back to have them check my rear wheel because I had already suspected I needed a new one. I was told that the wheel was perfectly fine. He pumped it up with air & no extra charge for service. They are very efficient. Prices are BEYOND reasonable & service was above average! Nice to see a neighborhood bike store with such hard working & honest people. Went there a short while ago to get a lock and some grips. Seriously, people that posted and complained about not getting served when they just stood there - get a clue. I went in and asked some clear questions and got good answers plus the exact type of lock and grips I was looking for. high quality tune up with a reasonable price. I got my brand new road bike tuned there at a very reasonable price. This is what they call the mini tune up. The tech did a thorough job adjusting the front and rear derailleurs, the front and rear wheels, the brakes, and even the crankcase. He had 2 test rides until he was satisfied with the conditions of the new bike. I asked him to go through what he did when picking up the bike. He took me outside as it was crowded and noisy inside and then patiently explained what he did. He complements the bike after the tune up and asked me to test ride it. The bike rides very smoothly and all the 20 gears (2 X10) work just fine. I just started cycling and definitely will come back for any repair work. read more

They should make a movie about this place. It's one of the best bike shops in SJ, well, the best. It's got the Ma and Pop feel that everyone looks for when trying to find specialized services. I live in Milpitas and did research and called most of the local places here. I was not happy with what I heard or read. Doing more searching I found Bicycle Express. I liked what I heard and read so I took my bike to them for a tune-up. I brought my bike to them on a Saturday and they quoted me a price of $60 and said it would be ready by Thursday. They explained to me what they would do to the bike while tuning it up. To my surprise, they called on Tuesday and said my bike was ready. I have had my bike for a couple of weeks now and it works great. I will call Bicycle Express first for any issues with my bike. read more

These guys are busy and with good reason. They do outstanding work and it's speedy. Tuneups are well priced. Helped me line up a basic toolkit one week and the next week pulled a frozen bottom bracket out of a rusty 1998 frame. Surgeons with wrenches IMO. Good selection of gear that people need instead of big box dross. read more

My name is Steven, and I would have to say this is the BEST place in San Jose to go to get any bike repairs or any bike parts. Me and my cousin have been going here ever since we started biking a lot back in summer of 2010. Jose and Eric (the mechanics) knows a lot about bikes in general ranging from road bikes, to fixed gears and more. You name it, they know it! Chuck and Karen ( the owners) are the nicest people you will ever meet! They always have a smile on their face and provide great customer service. The price range is awesome! You could get a lot done on your bike for a really reasonable price, and they also have tools for you to fix your own bike, free of charge.
