I've bought two bicycles here, and had bikes serviced, and have been really happy with the experiences, especially when compared with other bicycles shops I've been to in the area. The service is the best we've ever received on our bikes, and they were returned in a reasonable amount of time - w/in a week at the busiest time of year. They have enough staff to get the job done, and a nice big shop to do the work. As far as buying; there's a great range of types of bikes, as well as price ranges. The staff shows you how to make sure the bike fits you right and that it's the right bike for your needs. Then they have you take it out for a test run around the shop area - which is such a cute little area. I will not hesitate to go back to Bicycle One at 82 Mill St in Gahanna from now on! I only gave it one less than 5 stars because it's a little further away for me, but for the quality of service, I'll go there! read more

I called on a very busy Christmas Eve inquiring about an online sale they were having and wondering if they shipped bikes. Nick asked me very relevant questions regarding my needs. I have some experience in the bicycle business as well and Nick knew his stuff. He was very forthcoming that a certain bike I was looking for had a small scratch on the top tube and offered up another two colors of a model up from the model I was inquiring about for the same price. My daughter wasn't hell bent on the original inquiry color anyway so we took Nick up one of the other colors. I could tell the shop was busy as I could hear people in the background. Nick never rushed me at all and in fact, apologized that at times he couldn't hear me and then decided that it was best to find a quieter spot in the shop. I was glad to hear they were busy as it must mean they are good as well! He wrote up my order and quoted a reasonable shipping price. Bike was in my hands a week later in great condition, exactly what was promised, and Troy, the owner sent a follow-up e-mail asking how all was. I am very glad to do business with small business "mom & pop" shops, even if they are two states away. The service is always above and beyond than what you would get at the "big box" stores and the bikes are not even comparable in quality, it's apples to oranges. A friend of mine told me he was going to stop by Bicycle One to check out some bikes, and I felt compelled to write this review, after I talked him out of it. I stopped by the shop about a month ago looking for a new bike. I'm not a racer, or a serious cyclist. I just wanted something better than a bike from Target to ride on the paths around Columbus. When I went in, I was greeted by the young lady behind the counter. Before I ask questions, I usually like to look around first, to get a feel for the place. So I told her I was just looking and would have questions later. She politely left me to my browsing. Here was my first impression: Lots of bikes. I mean, up to the ceiling. The store wasn't messy, but the amount of bikes was overwhelming. They seemed organized, but it was hard to move past other customers with bikes sticking out everywhere. These other customers are the second part of my review. The other customers came in after I did. Apparently they were looking for the same kind of bike as myself. It was a married (I assume) couple who wanted to get out and exercise. I don't normally eavesdrop on conversations, but the store echoes a bit, so you could hear everything. Besides, I could listen in on the salesperson's explanations. The young lady showed the female customer a hybrid. Cool, that's what I would have picked. It had the larger wheels and looked comfortable. The lady sat on the bike and immediately loved it. This was looking good so far for my impression of the shop. Next, she showed the man a mountain bike with smaller wheels. The young lady's explanation was that the bigger wheels rolled slower, and he would go faster on the mountain bike. Hold on. I'm no expert, but the mountain bike with the fat tires would be slower than the hybrid with the bigger smoother tires. I could see the difference. Even the male customer sort of objected to it, but was too polite to say anything. Eventually, they left with, deciding on the bikes shown to them. Turns out that the young lady was the owner's daughter and was offering a sale price on the hybrid (I think. She mentioned sale more than the specifications of the bikes). All in all, she didn't really make a convincing argument as to why the bikes were correct for their use. I like knowledgable staff. It's because I'm trusting them to steer me to the correct item I need. After listening to this sales lady, I was afraid this place didn't have anyone knowledgable. To sum it up, I left without asking any questions, and went to a different bike shop. The young lady seemed polite, and I saw another salesperson, but I thought I heard enough. It was this experience that led me to recommend a different bike shop to my friend, and I recommend you do the same. read more

If I could give this place 10 stars, I would!!! We received exceptional service. Nick helped us. He is so knowledgeable. He was very patient and answered all of our questions. We were able to test drive anything we wanted. He even encouraged us to try others to compare. They are not high pressure at all. I felt that they wanted us to be satisfied with our purchase. Not sure if it was because of my race, but the salespeople were not helpful and it took around 5 minutes or so for someone to actually answer my pretty simple question. read more

There aren't many choices for recumbent bikes in central Ohio. Several shops offered to order one for me but nobody had one in store. Bicycle One had several. After an exhaustive amount of research and phone calls to various 'bent companies ("The Bicycle Man" is an excellent resource on the internet) and friends, I had Kevin at BO order and assemble one for me. He spent 10-12 hours over three sessions fitting me to my new Carbon Aero Basso, road testing to making sure the bike and I were compatible. And Kevin spent many more hours modifying the bike to my exact specs: mirror, chain tube, water bladder, stem, lights...that bike fits me. The bike was a little over $4,000 including all optional equipment, plus 3 years maintenance included. That's a lot of cash but still far below retail. I usually don't write reviews, but I just had to make special mention of this shop. I truly understand how this shop has lasted for over 40 years. As a family owned and operated business, each individual working there (including some non-family members) is absoulutely fabulous! My husband and I, recent transplants from Philadelphia, have discussed getting bikes every spring. This was the year, and it must have been fated for us to find Bicycle One. From the moment we walked into the shop until the moment we collected our personalised Cannondale bikes, we were treated as if we were special guests invited to dinner. I'd like to thank every one for making our bicycle shopping experience an absolute pleasure. Special mention to Caroline (a pure delight), Mitch (you're the man!!), Kevin (awesome, mate), and Nick (sharp kid! and you're how young??). I went here on my way home from work for a freewheel removing tool. A girl asked me if she could help me and I explained what I needed. She didn't seem to know, which is fine, and asked the guy checking people out and he seemed to know what I needed. While waiting for his help an older gentleman, I'm guessing the owner, said he would take care of me. He took the wheel in the working area and spent 30 seconds taking the freewheel off for me. I thought he was just being nice and I was planning on buying something for his helpfulness. He then gave me back the wheel and freewheel and started It became apearant that he was going to charge me. I asked if he had the tool I needed, expecting that he would not charge me for the 30 seconds of service if I bought the tool I originally asked for which I wanted anyway. He took me to show me where they were and did not have the bike specific part that I needed but he could order it for me. He then charged me $8.50 for 30 seconds of labor which I did not ask for and I left without the $10 part I went in for feeling shammed. I will not be returning to this bike shop. Poor customer service and just flat out rude if you ask me. read more
