Loved this place. Went on a Friday around noon. There was only one waitress but her attitude was great! She was running her butt off. At one point I had to get her attention to get another beer. In a world where $5 has now become a borderline cheap price for good beer in a bar, it's nice to know of places like Biddy Early's, which reminds me of nothing so much as my favorite college dive back in Troy, NY. Between the regulars on the edge of their seats watching keno numbers and the old fake-rustic woodwork on the interior, it's an awesome throwback to my own more infamous days. 2.5? Biddy Early's is such a random bar in the middle of the Financial District. The atmosphere seems dive-y, but it's a tiny bit cleaner than most. Before our night really started, my friends and I explored the bar menu. They raved about their burgers, and I housed the nachos. The nachos included lettuce, ground meat, tomatoes, salsa, and chips. It was lacking in flavor and seemed rather "chunky." I ate them all because I needed food, but I don't think I'd order them again. There are $6 PBR pitchers that were amazing, but their mixed drinks were a tiny bit lacking. I do love the darts aspect and the surprise DJ that came in for the night. I came here to meet some of the coolest yelpers ever! I'm glad they picked this spot. It's definitely small but it's warm and cozy. I didn't feel like I was tripping all over the place to get somewhere either. This is especially good after a few drinks. The bartenders were very friendly. It's great when they make eye contact with you and actually know your place in line. The beer is really cheap and their other alcohol is decently priced. I had some of their fries and food which was descent, especially after some drinks. But that's not why you go here is it? I would like to give a zero rating if I could. The bouncer turned me away even though I presented a legitimate mass ID. I recently lost some weight and people have begun to question my ID because of it. I have been a bartender in the city for several years. If you don't know the difference between a fake ID and a real one you should not be a bartender plain and simple. I then showed my credit card to prove my name on something else. He then said that if I was going to give attitude I could just leave. I'm not sure where the true problem lies but it seems as though their bouncers need to be trained on how to read mass ID's and not let their fat-phobic views seep through. Ok, I'm not a hipster that thinks his place is cool because it's grimy and cheap. I worked across the street from Biddy's since before it opened and it became my default after work haunt. During the Big Dig, (remember that?) it was full of construction guys, nowadays the young financial types fill it most week nights. It is a dive, has a "smell" to it but it's cheap and dark and usually not too crowded. Great place to start or finish your night in town. $4 for a Miller Lite, one of the cheapest around. read more
