A must eat in Vieques. The mofongo is on point unlike other place. The fish curry was well balanced.

We must've caught this place on a rough day but we didn't have a good experience at all. We both agreed that this was the worst food we had on our week long trip in Puerto Rico. We ordered ceviche. Someone brought it after serving lots of other tables that arrived after we did and it was really strange. It was in a tall cocktail glass and was absolutely swimming in pink liquid. Was more like a very sweet gaspacho than ceviche. My husbands steak wasn't cooked properly and I asked for water 4 times without it ever being brought. I ended up going to the bar and asking for it there. Later, the person who took our order came over and cleared away the mostly uneaten ceviche. She said, "We know you didn't order this and it was given to you by mistake, so we won't charge you for it." Well, we did order it. I shouldn't have said anything and then I wouldn't have been charged because it was awful. The mofongo was the worst I've had in my life. The fish tacos weren't bad but I wish I had known they came drenched in crema; that wasn't listed on the menu and I'm not a fan. I would've ordered it without. DO NOT COME HERE. Seriously. Don't bother. There are countless other great meals on Vieques- this is so not worth it. Ever eat somewhere and then regret it and feel like you wasted a meal? That's how I felt tonight after eating here. We waited an HOUR and ten minutes to receive our appetizers. Appetizers. We did not have silverware or napkins however once the appetizers arrived. I got up and went to the bar to ask one of the waitresses if we could have silverware and you would think I had asked her to literally do something unbearably inconvenient. I got an eye roll and was told she only had two sets of silverware (there were four of us). She made a half assed attempt to roll two more and then just stopped. Was it too difficult? The other waitress came over finally and said she would bring us another two sets. Those arrived another five minutes later. After that, we waited an additional half an hour for our entrees - so at this point we had been there for an hour and forty minutes. The entrees then began to arrived staggered - ten minutes between the first and the fourth. The food was mediocre at best. There is really no other way to describe it. We finally asked for the check which surprisingly came quote quickly but then once we handed over our credit cards, we waited for twenty minutes to get them back. The staff was completely unapologetic for any of this. Other things that bothered us: it smells, and not in a good way, when you walk in. The bathroom doesn't have any paper towels or any method to dry your hands. We had made a reservation but clearly that is meaningless as when we walked in and gave our name, we were met with a blank stare and told we could sit at the one available table inside (not one of the nicer ones on the patio) or we could sit at the bar (!!!!!). Long story short - so not worth the wait, the service or the food. read more

Went here looking for El Patio but then realized this is El Patio now called Biekes Bistro. So one thing that seemed very telling if the place is that it seemed like the place locals went to eat for Puerto Rican food. A very good thing. There were also plenty of tourists too so don't be intimidated to go there. Although the service was really slow which you should really expect being anywhere in PR the food was awesome. Really tasty food with huge portions. I would recommend the conch and tostones appetizer. The conch is prepared in a creamy almost curry-like stew with tostones for dipping. The churracso is excellent and a large slice of meat and the mamposteao rice was delicious. Gf got the Brazilian grouper which was really good but be warned that it is prepared pretty much in the same sauce as the conch appetizer was so it was kind like eating the same thing. Taste good but don't order the two things together. They made a pretty good piña colada too. Go here for really good Puerto Rican food. read more

Great hidden gem serving authentic Puerto Rican food! MUST try the Chicken Mofongo in the Creole version. Absolutely best mofongo we have ever had. Super friendly waitress, yummy mojitos, and all-around great atmosphere. We sat indoors one night and enjoyed all the photos, and sat outdoors the second night where string-lights gave a cute accent to the view of busy passers-by on the main road through town. The service was really slow and hard to understand (volume wise). The chicken was good but the house salad as a side was terrible. It didn't look/tasted fresh and I found a bug. The dressing was on the side and the consistency was more like mayo and that is how it tasted (I have to add that I am a vinaigrette person, so I might be biased). Our hotel, The W, suggested Bieke's because it is one of the best restaurants available during the slow season. Almost everything else is closed. It is a short taxi ride from The W. You need to plan on being there a while. You will have plenty of time to drink a few before being served, so be prepared. We sat at the bar and the bartender brought us some croquettes because she felt badly about the wait. The croquettes were filled with risotto and ham. They were wonderful, but kinda curbed our appetites for our main meal. Anyway, I had skirt steak mofongo and it was delicious. The value is good as far as Viequez goes. Same as everywhere else. If you are starving, you may not want to go to this place. Go when you have a night to relax and take your time. It would be worth it. I don't know if there are better choices during the high season. read more

First off, the food is terrific. I had a special, pork loin, and it was incredible. My vegan daughter had coconut rice that was tasty and filling. So, the food is fantastic and worth waiting for. The negative is that you'll wait. This is authentic Puerto Rican food and it is made to order. Your waitress will be like a favorite aunt but not like a highly trained waiter. My partner is from main land PR so we are always on the lookout for delicious Puerto Rican food. Bieke's Bistro is a prican owned restaurant with quality local cuisine! We have been coming to Vieques for years and pretty much tried everything, this place is top of the list! Amongst the dishes we tried are the ceviche, tostones, stuffed arepas, mofongo with churrasco, mojitos. All excellent! Place and service is down to earth and very welcoming. OK, so I had very very low expectations when we walked into the place. The server couldn't answer any questions about the menu, she was slow and inattentive. And then we watched a delivery person carry boxes of frozen wings and shrimp? Into the back. Then the food arrived. Wow! The Peruvian ceviche was out of this world good. Best that I had in Puerto Rico. The arepas are unique and good. Fluffy and soft. Even the mundane dish of chicken soup was unique and tasty. In short, GO TO THIS PLACE! A lovely hidden gem in downtown vieques. The closest thing that you are going to get to authentic Puerto Rican cuisine on the island. The arepas de camaron are amazing! The staff are a more attentive and nicer than your average pr staff. Prices are also better than most other dining options. read more

Slow service and the food is just OK. But my friend liked the pina colada here. I had the chicken breast and it was just OK.

While the food was pretty good, we had the WORST server of my life. Both my partner and I have worked in the restaurant industry and were appalled by our server's behavior. He was SO rude, it was clear he hates Americans. The very first dish we ordered was calamari, and yet it did not come out and when I asked he looked at me like I was crazy. So I ordered the calamari, again, and after 15 minutes - really, calamari doesn't take that long - he said it would take a while because there were other orders ahead of us. I think there were 2 tables in the entire restaurant as it was 2 pm. So I cancelled the calamari because we needed to catch the ferry. Miraculously he came out 2 minutes later with the calamari. Also, my partner ordered empanada con pollo and he brought out breaded chicken. When my partner asked for salad dressing for his salad, the server said in a very rude tone "ranch?" As if Americans only like ranch dressing. I realize this is not a reflection on the restaurant as a whole, but that guy needs an attitude check or they need to work on hiring staff that aren't prejudiced. read more

This restaurant was recommended by both our Airbnb host and a couple that we met in a taxi, but boy, what are these people thinking?! Service is slow and inattentive -- you have to remind people if you want a bottle of water or can of beer delivered. The menu is large and bizarre -- they're trying to appeal to everyone with American, Mexican, French and Latin/Brazilian food, but it's just too much. Instead of a few excellent items, you have a ton of mediocre food. Ceviche lacked flavor, aside from general acidity. I ordered parmesan chorizo, thinking it must be some sort of parmesan encrusted chorizo, but instead it was literally like Portuguese sausage served as a kind of "chicken parmesan-ish" dish with sausage replacing the chicken -- it was bizarre and gross. Burrito was huge, but flavorless. All items seem to come with an unappetizing side salad of cabbage. Coconut rice is famous -- why?! It's just sickeningly sweet rice. Prepare for a group of four to spend well over $100 for a complete meal here -- after tax and tip -- and prepare to be disappointed. Hard pass. read more

The arroz mamposteao is amazing it's a mini mountain shaped amount of rice, beans, onions, peppers and the amazing flavors of Puerto Rican Criolla. The menu offered awesome vegetarian choices. The portions were so large that a to-go box was warranted. I enjoyed the vegetarian mofongo with vegetables in a creole sauce. Wow, what tasty food and great service. We enjoyed the romantic ambience of the outdoor seating area, made more fun by the occasional bareback rider trotting past or loud reggaeton blaring! Excellent drink list. I had the grilled grouper with a coconut curry sauce--the flavor was impeccable and the serving size was huge! I ate about a quarter of the portion before I had to tap out. My husband had the mofungu with chicken and creole sauce, also amazing flavor and a huge portion. I've never seen him not finish a meal before. We are looking forward to our leftovers today.
