I never thought I would give this place one star, for days I've asked this location when they get their ammo shipments. They said Friday, multiple times...Friday morning I get in line around 8:30 so that I'm the first one in line. At 9:30 they open their doors and I walk over to their hunting department, I'm greeted by a sign that says no ammo purchases until noon. I look around and see they're cleaned out so I ask one of the guys there and he says their shipment shows up Tuesday and Thursday.....I rush over to the Glendale location and I'm the third in line, the person first in line buys out their entire 9MM stock. If I wouldn't have wasted an hour in line at this location I would've been able to secure what I needed, waste of time. read more

Staff was nice and welcoming but I went in 3x in the last 2 weeks and still can't find anything. The store is very limited in their inventory. Online it shows available in store but it's not true. Not sure if it's a way to get people in the door or just the computers not talking to each other. We also went to the Glendale store and we came across the same problem. The staff here are great. They're helpful and attentive. I've never had an issue with customer service or exchanges. I mainly come for fishing gear and ammo. Limited stock on ammo and it usually goes pretty quick. Fishing supplies can vary but most times I'm able to find what I need to fish for trout, bass, and catfish. Don't be afraid to ask if they have more stock or supplies in the back. There have been times where they don't have what I need on the shelf, but they'll usually find a few laying around somewhere in the back. They have night crawlers in stock and they're usually pretty fat and in good condition. Good bait to target various species of fish! read more

I purchased sunglasses at northridge big 5. 10/9/2017. Barely wore the glasses brought the receipt and tag along with the item. I tried returning the glasses and they would not let me return the item because the tag was removed even with the receipt. Theres no damage to the item. read more

I got absolutely no help. I was looking for a few things but found none of 'em. I was disappointed that I wasn't offered help or service at all but I don't know that the employees would have been able to help me find what I'd been looking for. I came in looking for a particular water bottle but didn't find the one that I was hoping for. I did find one interesting sort of fan gear wind sock sort of banner. That was cool. It wasn't only on clearance but it was also in my hubby's fave team, Seattle Seahawks. I found a number of other cool lil things, like pineapple and flamingo ear buds but still, not the water bottle that I needed for my lil one. I looked for someone to answer my question about where I might be able to find the brand and size/model water bottle that I was hunting for but the only person who came towards my location, they only wanted to get by me. They asked me for me to move aside. I asked them for some help and they just dismissed me and kept on walking. They disappeared to the back of the stock room and I didn't see them again. Gee, what a way to help your customers. I found a pair of shoes that I'd been hunting for, for some time. They were available in a different color way than what I'd hoped but they were still a good deal. I ended up not getting them but that was because I wasn't able to find someone who could get me the other half of the pair to the shoes that I wanted to purchase. Ugh! I came in an hour before closing wanting to buy a WWII era Mosin Nagant rifle on sale. The associate at the gun counter acknowledged me and said he'll be right back. 30 minutes later he was no where to be found and it looks like no one else was around to help. I went to the cashier to page for an associate but no one came. Finally 15 minutes before closing I got someone to show it to me but they said it was too late to start a gun sale because they were closing. This Big 5 is really Big "BS". I think with all the large sporting goods and specialty stores and even the fact that other stores sell sporting type items.... Big 5 gets overlooked. I had to learn from trial and error and not being able to find what I needed at a reasonable price... Go to Big 5 first! There were more than a few times I went the the larger local sporting goods place and was not able to find what I was looking for, or the price was way more than I had planned to pay. I came to this big 5 with inquires regarding a shotgun for home protection during these turbulent times... and the manager (shorter mid aged Hispanic man) was completely rude, the opposite of helpful, and completely profiled me and had me feeling so distraught as I walked out the store. I'm a 30 year old with tattoos... completely law abiding + Buisness owner. His exact words were " if I was able to sell you A gun right now, I wouldn't... I want to make sure the right gun goes to the right person". Completely uncalled for and unprovoked. If you need to go to a big 5 I suggest any other one but this one. The one in studio city was very helpful and courteous. The way I was treated here should get him reprimanded at the least by his superior. Burbank has allowed gun stores to stay open and you guys sell guns and ammo. That is an essential business. As you know we are coming to your store for that reason and after making us wait in line for an hour and getting inside the store, you tell us you have decided not to sell guns and ammunition as a company. Well guess what? You know at this time of need we all need these and are willing to buy it. If you are going to stay open, you should be selling guns and ammo, or else you should close, as selling basketballs are not an essential business. Bunch of clown high school drop outs that work here, I walk in to return a BB gun I bought for my pops on father's day last month and the clown at the register is like we don't accept return on BB guns even it it's never been used. The return policy online says otherwise, I called the burbank location and told them what happened and they told me they get a lot of complaints from people that used to shop in Tujunga and now go to Burbank. They told me I can come into the Burbank location and that they would help me out, they also said that they accept returns on everything except real guns and ammunition and that the manager at the Tujunga location was lying to me. I had to buy some snow gear, I went here with my wife they had a great selection of snow gear enough to send me out to big bear. But the lady who worked there she was a Asian lady taller than average had a bad attitude towards us wouldn't answear our question completely In a way where she just wanted us to leave even though we ended up spending 250 dollars. Manager was rude enough to exaggeratedly say that we have been at the counter for "30 minutes" doing transactions while representative kept on screwing up on our purchases. Store was easy to find, ample parking on a private lot. Compared to the Wilshire store this place is huge. The store like all other Big 5's is full of merchandise with a lot to see from baseball equipment to hunting gear and every sport in between. We came here looking for baseball bats for our 7yr old, didn't find a bat surprisingly but we were asked if we needed any assistance which was very much appreciated. We did on the other hand find some AWESOME deals on shoes that were on clearance, like $5 Star War shoes for boys and some hiking shoes for the wife for $15. The customer service we experienced at the time of our visit were very helpful and friendly. The cashier was very sweet and all in all it was a pleasure to shop here. We're going to continue to come here in the future and have made this place our go to Big 5. read more

There's this guy named Brian that is usually in the ammo section that never bothers to help. I went in looking for some ammo and he passed by me several times to help people that got there after me! Lousiest-customer-service-EVER Central!!! I ask a manager if I can get some assistance in one of the isles, he says "someone will be with you in a second" - guess what - nothing! After 15 minutes I give up and help myself. I picked out about $300 worth of products and asked one of the employees if I can put the stuff on the counter because I wasn't done shopping - the lady says ok, takes the stuff and I go to get a few more items. I come back, and ALL of the stuff I wanted to buy was placed back on the shelves!!!!!!! Worth mentioning is that I wasn't hidden somewhere in the corner for hours, it took me 10-15 minutes and I was walking through the store so the employees saw me still getting stuff.
