I love shopping here. They don't have "everything" but they always have what I need. The employees are very nice, friendly and helpful.

The only reason why I'm giving this place a 2 instead of 1 is because I found some really good, decent looking hiking boots for $17. Other than my steal of a purchase, this place is HORRENDOUS. The place is a mess with trash, clothes, and shoes all over the floor. I walked in and found the shoes I wanted within 2 minutes. It took me almost an hour and a half to leave the store. No one ever came to the shoe section to see if we needed help. I tracked down the manager, who acted upset that I'd asked her for any help. As we walked toward the shoes she laid her eyes on an employee and snapped at her to help me. Then I got the size I asked for. Cool, let's get out of here. Then I decided maybe I should try them on just to be sure, dang a bit too snug. So I had to go track down someone again. I asked the manager who was just standing in a doorway, who then shouted for a worker to come help. Really? What is it you do manager lady? Besides looking crabby. So the same girl came to help me, and I got the size I needed. Now, this is about an hour into the trip. I rush to the check out counter because I just want to get out of the sweltering place. There were 2 people ahead of me in line. And I stood in line. For. 45. minutes. YES, 45 minutes. All for $17 hiking boots. Were there not enough employees to work other registers? There were plenty. Including the manager who just stood there and stared at all the angry faces in line who were huffing and puffing and cussing. Next time I'll be taking a drive to a farther store to get my sporting goods needs. read more

There's always sales for ammo. Just be sure to ask the front counter for help once you're inside if you are going to check out the guns and ammo. The staff is friendly and helpful in pointing out deals otherwise missed in their weekly adds. Be prepared with your ID and I promise you, you'll be in and out with good ammo deals in no time. read more

Well been to other Big 5 stores but sadly this was the messiest one I have been too. Luckily for me I know the store well so I know where to go to find what I'm looking for but I do feel bad for the people that don't know where anything is and have a hard time finding someone to help them out. It seems that the employees must be lost under the piles on the floors. There was only one register open when I went in and ended up waiting almost 20 minutes to buys a pair of socks. They have great deals but sadly the service is not that great. They really need to organize this store and maybe if the employees decided to make themselves available instead of hiding in the corners of the store the service would improve. And heavens forbid you flag them down for assistance because they really get upset you're much better of wandering around until you find what you're looking for instead of getting that looks of resentment for asking for assistance. Hopefully they improve because the store had a lot of potential. read more

Been going here for as long as I have lived in the area and it has always been the same. Shoes scattered all over the place along with well everything else in the store. I mean the selection is ok but it's like a scavenger hunt sometimes. If you go for any type of shoes you will be dissatisfied as they pay little to no attention to that but sometimes you can get quite a steal. My friend and I went here the other day to get hand warmers for her boyfriend so I went to smoke and trip out on all the different kinds of things they actually do carry I mean you could rob a bank with all the things they sell........but the service is really bad at times so beware. read more

First of all let me just say one thing, dont waste your time here. This place doesn't have anything in adult sizes. My son is 12 years old and I'd say he is a bigger than most kids his age. He uses adult LG-XL and size 10-11 mens shoes. This place doesn't have any baseball or football cleats his size. We found some hideous looking Adidas cleats (last pair) but no thanks. They didnt have adult underwear with the cups. My son plays football too. They didnt have football cleats, pants, jerseys, shoulder pads, helmets etc..... I've been disappointed pretty much every single time I've been to this Big 5. Another thing is that the employees are always just standing there, ignoring the customers. They see customers standing by the shoe section and they just ignore them. I've had to walk up to them numerous times to ask for help instead of them approaching me and asking if I needed help. Best Big 5 around!! They strive hard to satisfy your needs. The store is neat and clean. I don't know why anyone would say otherwise. But since this store is so popular sale items go quick. I love this Big 5. I've purchased numerous rifles, boots, running shoes, knee braces, knives, baseball gear, and the list would go on and on. I continue returning to them because they're staff is very knowledgeable and very helpful. I've been coming to this store for 10 + years now. Went in today to look for tennis shoes- as soon as I walked in was not greeted and noticed how extremely loud it was not from music but from the employees. It was not completely crowded yet the customers in the stores had to listen to them yell and talk and try to get their attention for customer service. I had to ask several times for my size in shoes because the one employee I was able to get their attention couldn't even hear me!! Horrible customer service and the talking did not stop the entire time I was there!! Worst sporting good store ever been to, nobody is around to ask for assistance. I went in asking for football items like a football protection cup directed me to baseball cups There's a difference!!!!! They need to educate there employees on the correct gear on specific sport a tire. So I'm gonna do this review cause I'm tired of Big 5 always getting away with Mis pricing their merchandise and getting away with it I work for a big corporation and we get in a heap of troubles when are stuff it not priced correctly and that is when the "customer is always right" and the "customer comes first" but Big 5 has seem to miss this part!! I can't speak for all of them but pico Rivera and the one in the Whittier quad I can!! And instead of getting "I'm sorry" it's me the customer I'm always wrong and then a dumb smirk from the minimum wage employees behind the counter!! There are times that they get busy, and that's understandable. They always have some kind of deal in the paper and they are open convenient hours. read more

Came in ready to buy some items I saw in the ad!! Walk in and there's 4 workers standing in the same area then another one in the same proximity talking to each other. Not one person greats us as we walk in. Well the 5 workers are huddled up in the front there was about 10 customers in the shoe section not one person comes over and asked if anyone need helps. I get the stuff I was going to purchase and threw it on the floor and of course not one person notice. This place has horrible employees and customer service.
