The food is *ok* - the service was awful. The server was quick to take our drink order, which was great. Came back and took our food order, and we never saw him again. We had my daughter's 4th birthday party there this weekend and I couldn't be happier that we chose Big Al's for her party. She LOVES bowling and we go here at least once a month to get our bowling fix in. It was a little expensive, but well worth it! Megan our party host was AMAZING! I recommend her for all kids parties! We have been to Big Al's numerous times since it opened. Love the bar atmosphere, especially for sporting events.. Good food, great selection of beers, and friendly service. Until last Monday night. We went there to watch MNF. Was crowded, as expected, but we were able to get a good table for TV viewing. After 15 minutes of NO SERVICE, we left. Very disappointing. read more

Go here twice a month for dinner, pool, and a few beers. The food is pretty good. The service however is terrible. Good luck getting a server and if you do manage to track one down and drag them over to your table, good luck ever getting them to come back. Last time there I tipped another tables waitress because she at least came by our table and picked up the 8 empty bottles that had been sitting there for over an hour. Talked to a manager a few months ago about it. He said to look him up our next time back but when we returned he no longer worked there. It a big place. The sports bar is really nice. Bowling is fun, nice atmosphere. Bowling wait time on Saturday night ranged from 40 minutes to 3 hours. Staff not polite. Service horrible in family seating area. Took orders 40 minutes after being seated. Did not check in to see how we were doing or refill drinks, we had to ask another server and they made us wait while they went and got our server. Took adult orders 20 minutes after kids so that the kids were bored and we had not peace eating. Dessert was served melted and without napkins. Servers had a bad attitude. read more

I've went here for the past three years to watch the seahawks games and always talked highly of the place for games. The food is nothing to brag about , the prices are a little steep and the staff always treated us great until yesterday. We got there at 1030 to get a good seat and it was packed so we took what we could get until something better came available. We talk to a table that was leaving to see if we could sit with them and just take there table over when they left. They guys were totally ok with that so we did. About 20 min later the manager came over and said we could not do that there was a waiting list all of a sudden.it was not like we were taking another table just switching from one to another. The manager then became very rude about it and told us we have to leave. Our group spent thousands of dollars there each season and will take our business else where. When we contacted big als general manager he was also rude and told us were not aloud to talk bad about his place of business on social media. I really enjoy coming to this bowling place with my family. It's really fun to just eat and bowl and maybe play some arcade games! :) the price for bowling will obviously vary, depending the amount of people. But, the bowling itself is much more quality from what I've seen from the past. The host let our server know we watched the server roll her eyes and then we still waited another 10 minutes. When you hire high school kids, you probably won't get the best customer service. Sadly, the manager is no better. I lost my jacket after spending a few hours there one night, paying for overpriced games and food. (Beers were reasonably priced.) I went back the next day at 10AM to see if anyone had found it. The girl at the counter heard me out, then went over to serve another customer. Meanwhile, two other clerks stood around doing nothing when girl at counter could have asked, "Hey, can you guys check the lost & found really quick for this lady?" I was in a hurry because I had to take my friends to the airport, so I was very upset to see this lack of attentiveness. Then, finally, she calls the manager, who is no better, sadly. He calls me over by wagging his finger like I'm some dog, rather than a paying customer. He takes my number in case they find it, and of course, nothing happens. It's fine if the jacket is lost or stolen; I don't blame them for that, but a little customer service for decent human beings would be nice. Second time trying this place and will not return. Doesn't take reservations, but when you show up, they say there's an hour wait - with about 20 lanes open. This is the second time this has happened, so it's not a once-off. I guess you have to be their friend to get a lane? Not sure. They post the list of parties waiting for a lane and when our group finally came to the top, "magically" a bunch of other folks appeared ahead of us. Ummmmm...there's something rotten in Denmark. After the 90-minute wait (yes, 90, not 60) we finally get stuffed (all 7 of us) onto one lane. Took another 90 minutes to bowl one game, while other groups are taking up 2 or 3, lanes each, with fewer bowlers. To top this off, our waittress went MIA after taking our order and didn't show up for another 45 minutes. I did notice she went to all of the tables around us, though. Ended up going to the bar to get beers myself. Crappy service and an attitude to boot - goodbye and thanks for all the fish! Will not be returning here ever. read more

Came here with a group of 20. Over 20 minutes for my Wife to get a glass of Wine. 15 minutes to get a Menu. Service was non existant. We were going to eat here, but didn't want to wait an hour for an over priced Burger. Saw the Manager and many of the waitstaff in a corner doorway, of the Bar, looking out over the room instead of waiting on anyone. The table of 4, next to us got up and left after waiting 45 minutes for food. The NBA Portland Trailblazers were on the 50 ft Big Screen TV and the place should have been packed. It was 90% empty and people were getting up and leaving constantly while we were there. I asked for the check, and 20 minutes later, got up and went and found our Server, and asked for my check again, and she acted like she had never seen or talked to me before. According to our Ticket, her name was Jacie T. We left and went to Red Robin. They were packed out the door, it is Friday night, and went into a full bar. I personally like Big Al's as an overall establishment however, due to a certain situation that occurred where they essentially took $300.00 and gave nothing in return. I had planned a surprise birthday party for my wife and had wished I would have consulted with her first however, it was after all meant to be a surprise. As I set up the party with Big Al's they had me put down a $300.00 deposit to secure that date (understandably so!). After a few weeks had gone by I found out that my wife had slightly different plans which was not a crime. I explained the situation to Big Al's and spoke with a nice lady by the name of Juanita. She told my wife and I that she would reach out to her Event Manager to see what could be done. I was emailed back a few days later stating "my Event Manager who said unfortunately a contract was signed and the only way to apply it back is to schedule another event." The reason for my one star review is because there was no understanding on Big Al's part. I thought at the very least they would issue me a gift card much like most businesses where the customer has the option on what to purchase from the establishment and the business also keeps the money that was promised to begin with. I think it was a little silly that I could only use the $300.00 on an event which also has to be within a certain time frame. I wish there would be at least an explanation as to why a gift card would not be an option where the customer has some control over their money and the Big Al's still gets paid for its services. So anyone planning an event better make sure they are in it 100% or you will have your money basically taken without any alternatives other than another event. read more

So went to Big Al's sports bar on Sunday to enjoy the season opener or football like I've done in the past few football season we showed up 10:30am for a good table as my football team took to the Field at 1pm they only had one table open by the doors so we said we would take that one intill something better became available told a few of the wait staff our plan to move closer to friends who already had a table then and asked a few young men who had a table if they would be staying for the later game and they said No so we asked if we could have there table when they were done using it they said "YES " so we waited and then 20 minutes before our game was to start we were told there was a list for tables and we could not have the one table and there was people waiting for that table well the manager went about this all wrong very Rude and told us if we didn't like it we could leave so we left went down the street.. the next day I find out from my friends that the table we wanted to get was empty for 30 minutes after we left .. talk to someone who was supposed to be in charge of this place and he was just as Rude as his staff and we're told to not come back this football season.. they don't have to worry I won't be back ever and will tell everyone I know to do the same read more

I guess today just sealed the deal for us. So, we had a hostess that was rarely anywhere to be found. She would show up for ONE thing and be gone for 15 min trying to do that. When we did go into the party room, at the scheduled time, the pizzas that we ordered weren't there and she started bringing ONE in after this kids were in the room for about 5 min. So, she was barely in the room for the 1st half an hour of our hour of room time because she was fetching pizzas. So, my friend, my husband, and I were serving the kids and making sure that everything was running smootly. NOT the hostess we paid for!!! Next time we saw her was right after we were singing HAPPY BIRTHDAY. She cut the cake for us!!! Yeah, she did something!! Then was never to be seen again until the party was over. We didn't even have a garbage can in the room to put anything in!! We spent more time trying to track her down than anything. First I want to say I had the most attentive liaison, Cassie, she did a great job of keeping us on schedule and helping with everything that came up. It was a small party for a 7 y/o they put us right next to serious bowlers, although there were many other lanes open. You can imagine how much this bugged the bowlers who are serious about their scores! Moving to the room, decorated nicely, good pizza, but the cupcakes are horrid!! They are obviously frozen and were freezer burned. The worst cupcakes and the worst icing I have ever tasted. They add a 20% gratuity to your bill, which seems a little over the top. My liaison made sure to tell me that she did not get all of that that she had to split it with many different people and I should add more if I want to compensate her. I always enjoy Big Al's except on Sundays when they play strictly country music for a minimum of 2 hours. This happens every Sunday, after that you may get so pop and by Pop I mean Taylor Swift and only Taylor Swift. You may get 1, 2 maximum R&B flashbacks, but they are always stopped as if someone heard them and said TURN IT off!! If you ask for different music the employees explain they are not allowed to take request. They are always polite about it. it is painful to listen to. The cost of food doesn't help either. What an unexpectedly awesome experience! We were trying to throw together a last minute birthday party for my son, and decided on Big Al's, and we were not disappointed in that choice at all. We did bowling, played arcade games, had pizza, and picked out prizes! We didn't get a party room or anything like that due to being on a tight budget, but it felt like we got the royal treatment anyways! Our waitress (SARAH Y.) was THE BEST!!!! She was so attentive and sweet. She gave my son a birthday pin (good for 100 free tickets to pick out prizes), and even gave him and his little friends arcade cards with $5.00 each on them!!! I don't think she had to do that, but she did anyways, and we loved it! My son loved it! We even forgot the candles for my sons cake, and she tracked some down for us! ALL of the employees were so awesome and accommodating! BEST thrown together birthday party EVER! We will most definitely be back for more birthdays and just because! Great place for all ages! Awesome customer service in the restaurant! We will definitely dine there again if there is a wait for a lane. I dined there while waiting for a lane to open up with my four year old and five month old. When my daughter realized she left her socks in the bowling area, our server Kareena saw me packing up my diaper bag, lugging the heavy car seat with my infant, trying to grab my daughters hand to stay by me, and she so kindly offered to go look for her socks. It sounds like a small gesture, but it meant so much to me. When our lane was ready, she brought our food to the lane, and insisted on bringing the car seat cradle to help me out. She was genuine and made it seem like it wasn't a big deal, but again, to me it was because it is a rare occurrence in my experience dining with my kids to have someone offer to help. It truly made our experience less chaotic and truly enjoyable. I venture out with my kids knowing it can be a bit crazy, but never do I expect or ask for help from others as it truly is not their job. Wow! This place is great. I've been there a couple of times during an extended stay in Vancouver. I've been to similar type places where I used to live in LA, but these guys take it to a completely other level. I don't think I've ever seen a nicer bowling alley, and the TV setup in the big sports bar is like nothing I've seen outside of Vegas. To top it all off, my biggest surprise has been the food. I've eaten there three times now and each time I've been blown away by how good the food is. You can tell they're really putting a lot of effort into the menu and the quality of the food. The manager David Rubens and employee Treve went above and beyond last night in their service. I went with my three kids to have a fun night out. We started off playing games in the arcade and then went to the restaurant to eat dinner. My oldest daughter had just got her braces taken off this week and now has a retainer that she takes off to eat. It was not until later in the evening that we realized she had left the retainer at the table. We found David, the manager, and told him our situation. He went back to the garbage room and 20 minutes later came out with Treve who had successfully found the retainer! We appreciate this service that is above and beyond from these two guys.
