I walked in, and the workers looked miserable. I felt very rushed to order when I had never been here before. The dining area was messy. There were crumbs on every table and the floor with workers just standing around. When the man took my order, he made my food then had me pay which held up the line - just seemed odd. I wanted to dine in but the tables were gross so I wiped off a spot for myself. The coffee was pretty average and most of the coffee options were out as well as the sugar packets. my husband and I were so excited to try the well known Big Apples Bagels. Well this morning was not a great impression. Everything inside looked broken (Ice maker, cash register...ect.) I didn't see anyone really cooking anything. My breakfast sandwich was absolutely disgusting. My egg whites tasted like it was frozen, as well as my turkey sausage. The Employees were pretty unorganized and not very friendly at all. They were getting frustrated with each other infront of the customers. Convenient little bagel shop on the corner of busy Beechmont Avenue. I have been here multiple times and the bagels are delicious and fresh. Honestly, the coffee is not my favorite and there's plenty of other places I would prefer to get coffee from but this is a great place for bagels with cream cheese and bagels sandwiches. I like how the person taking your order is also the person who put your order together, so nothing gets lost in translation. They seem to have a pretty good system and has not left me hungry. Yum! Finally made it into Big Apple! I love having a bagel shop so nearby. Pretty much the only bagel shop in Anderson aside from Panera. The parking lot sucks but everything else is pretty good! I grabbed a bagel with cream cheese and a couple mini muffins for the kiddo. I say this warmly, my bagel and coffee was good. Not over the top amazing but just good. I wouldn't necessarily call this the trendiest shop as it certainly has a mom and pop shop feel. Went to order online for a carry-out sandwich. At the end of the ordering process where it totals up tax, etc. it said "add $3.11 for minimum carry-out cost" or something like that. Taking the total to $12. So I went to the actual store and said, "I tried to order online but it said there was a minimum for carry-out orders." I have heard good things about their muffins. Choices make this spot ideal for breakfast or lunch. Chewy on the outside, bagels give way to a light and fluffy inside. Even days later, they maintain this consistency, when reheated, in a toaster oven. The mix on the everything bagels is well distributed, and does not all fall off when being cut. Everything bagels are made with choice of plain or wheat bagel base. Wheat are a little more dense. Not only are the plain fluffier, but the flavor of the toppings is more pronounced. One of my children loves the pretzel bagels. It is more on the dense side, yet still soft. The sourdough bagels are light and airy. They get a thicker crust than the other bagels. These are great for sandwiches. The pumpernickel work well for sandwiches as well. Cheese bagels are cheese and garlic. We have yet to try their sweet bagels. Even late morning or early afternoon, on a weekday, they are busy. The parking lot fills up. Many people seem to be getting their orders to-go. As such, a parking spot opens up quickly. There seems to be an adequate number of tables. The staff has a bit of that short, to the point, stereotypical, Big Apple attitude. Staff is quick and efficient. The line moves quickly. Disgusting dirty and rude owners, where's the Board of Health? I was excited to try this because they are never open. I thought it was closed down. It's closed when I go to work and off work. I happened to run an errand on my break and saw they were open. I left after standing in line 15 mins. The male owner was walking back and forth from the office to kitchen. The female owner was clearly in distress about something (and was on her mobile phone) looking at the line out the door messing with the cash register all while wearing her black food gloves going back and forth to the kitchen putting bagels on a sheet pan. It was disgusting to watch and more frustrating to know her disrespect to the customers. The kitchen walls were gross and the cream cheese case, while they looked delish, was dirty. 2 young children were running back and forth from the dinning area past the bakery & deli cases into the office all while openly coughing. Kids are kids, it's not their fault but a restaurant kitchen is not place for them. The 3rd employee was trying her best to wait on customers while avoiding knocking into to the kids. The lack of cleanliness clearly is alarming and this is not a place I will spend a single cent of my money. The bagels are delicious. I normally get the Cinnamon Apple Pie bagel with Honey Cinnamon cream cheese or the Chocolate Chip bagel with Strawberry cream cheese. As well, they have muffins that while they don't seem to baked in house, they're still delicious. The only negative is they NEVER wipe down their cutting board. Just go in and look at it and you'll see it covered in crumbs. I've had too many times where my cinnamon bagel tastes like garlic. Disgusting. read more

Decent food but poor service the last few times. I don't understand their concept of ordering and then waiting to pay until after they make the food. It just makes the line twice as long because you're essentially waiting in line twice, it would be easier if you paid while ordering so you could just grab your food when it's ready and leave? Tried to get a foundation drink and the guy said they were out of regular cups and offered a smaller coffee cup for soda, but then said I would still be charged for a regular fountain drink? The first time I went here I had a great experience, this time it was a bad experience . There was 5 in our family & a young guy took one of our orders & walked away , then a girl took the rest of our orders not sure what happen but we had to repeat what we had ordered . The egg sandwich was good & full & the bagels have flavor but none of the other bagel sandwiches were filled much . The Two bagels with crème cheese were skimpy ( thin layer of crème cheese on one side of bagel ) & so were the 2 roast beef sandwiches, what a disappointment especially for the price . I do not think I will be back . If the workers made a sandwich for themselves I am sure it would be thicker . Definitely my favorite bagel shop in Cincinnati! The blueberry and chocolate chip muffins are to die for! So yummy, perfect, and satisfying. I have lived here for over 20 years. Panera, Bruegger's and Marx Bagels have all been favorites for awhile but this place is the best. A bagel is an entire food group of it's own. I love the Honey Oat, Salt and Jalapeño bagels here at Big Apple. The best cream cheese in my opinion is Strawberry but I have yet to sample the Apple Cinnamon. Their coffee rocks! I have a new favorite. Parmesan and Garlic bagels never fail me and all I need is plain cream cheese. It just keeps getting better and better at this place and I have changed my rating to a 5 star. The bagels are delicious without the hard outside that make eating some bagels a struggle. I like that their specials are offered to customers who visit the shop, if you don't go, you don't know! The menu isn't big so you don't have much to study, but the staff works at a fast clip so either be ready to order or defer to the next ready customer. I'm a big fan of sandwiches and recommend the breakfast Southern Tradition over other sandwiches because you get the most bang for your buck . Nice begal store with plenty of fresh muffins and baked goodies. I enjoy their smoothies and muffins. The coffee is pre-made and depending on the day can taste a little burnt. The interior is out dated, but give it a few years it will be vintage. I do not like leaving bad reviews but sometimes you just have to do it. I went to big Apple to grab a sandwich & I noticed that the girl helping me still had her food prep gloves on while giving me my change, she did take one of them off while handling the cash but the other gloves hand was holding the register drawer. I asked her if she was going to change her gloves before making my sandwich (I felt like a total Karen) & her reply was that she didn't touch the money with a glove on but didn't seem to understand that her other hand was on the cash register drawer? I took my sandwich home & threw it away & will not be back. All I ask is for the manager to have a mandatory meeting on why gloves are worn & why they are not to be reused. So gross read more
