Love this place. Neighborhood bar atmosphere. Murf's Trivia on Wednesday night is a blast! The also have Texas Holdem Poker tournaments (by Games R Us) on Tuesday's. I will be giving that a try soon. This was my third time visiting the Big Apple Cafe. The manager was very rude. We were denied service because my coworker lost his ID ( which was understandable). We were told to leave immediately because no one without ID is allowed in there after 9pm. We walked right out but were then followed by the manager and two guys. I didn't know what was going on but felt very uncomfortable. He then said "you guys aren't allowed here". I asked what we did wrong but then we walked away realizing that the situation would escalate. I had never experienced this type of treatment before at a restaurant. The first two times my co workers and I went to this place we had great service and food ok. I would have rather emailed this complaint than leave a low rating but someone on the staff will read this. read more

Will NEVER go again. While I think the owner is a great guy, his staff....not so much. We went after a game downtown yesterday. Did not know kids could not go in after 11:00. We ordered a to go pizza for them and their Mom took them home. JOHN, bartender (who offered to SPELL his name for us ???? SNARKY much) said "they could not be liable since kids in the car". What part of there are NO kids in the car did you not understand? We would have settled for water and food. NO. Sorry, won't go, won't recommend anyone else does and will talk bad about them to anyone I can. A shame as very close to my house. read more

The Big Apple Sports Bar is more of a bar than anything else. I do see kids here and there nothing here you wouldn't see at other bars, but it's definitely more adult oriented. While their staff deserves 5 stars for being so friendly and attentive, their food is their shortcoming. Most everything is pretty average here. The pizza is probably their best offering (New York style) and the slices are pretty big. This place feels a bit divey as the furniture is worn and the place just feeling a bit old, but I guess it adds character especially if you've been coming here for a while. Smokey dive bar in a depressing strip mall in a depressing area. They had the worst karaoke I've ever heard in my life. The clientele was a bunch of old men and fat women, all smoking. The Bud Lite draught was stale. If you're stuck here, waiting overnight for a flight out, as I was, this is about your only option. Yuk. read more

From excellent service, great food, superb drinks and comfy atmosphere you will immediately feel like home. Joe - the owner is great, very personable and will greet you when you walk in and stop by while your hanging out to check on your service. Veronica behind the bar - is by far the best bartender. Hubby and I met a couple of friends here on Tuesday night. They have newer furniture and have redesigned since I was there last, about 10 years ago. Didn't seem very smokey and everyone was nice. Great service and every waitress that walked by checked on us. We ordered fried pickles which were great...think Razoos. Chips and queso good but the chips tasted like they were fried in old oil. Greek salad was great and their blue cheese dressing tastes homemade. Side salad with exceptionally good garlic croutons was plenty big. We ordered an extra large pizza to go, with xtra xtra cheese and xtra sauce. Didn't seem like there was much cheese or sauce, but it was passable. Good enough that we will try one to eat there, maybe with other toppings, for a second chance. Good place to go if you're in the area and need drinks and quasi-substantial food. Kitchen stays open till. 1:00am, so that is a nice feature. We will be back! read more

Kinda a dive bar. In a good way. A divey, strip center atmosphere, but looks can be deceiving. inside, lots of TVs and some arcade style games in the corner. A young, inviting wait staff. Don't expect foo-foo or high-end drinks, but the bartenders are efficient and give a heavy pour. Decent pizza and wings. Everything about BA screams "I like this neighborhood joint." In the Centreporte area the selections are few, but Big Apple is a welcome respite, one that I'll definitely return to. read more

I have been coming to this bar for awhile. I found it on the American Airlines dining app a few years ago. Friendly bartenders and the food and drinks are great. However, I went on July 19, 2020 and set at a tabletop in the bar area. Group of individuals and the owner sat in a group and started to make ridicule and mock the Black Lives Matter movement. It seemed they were looking for a reaction from me. I decided to ignore them sense I was already getting my food to go and protest with my dollar. Won't be going back again. read more

This was the closest place to killing two birds with one stone. I guess you can call it a dive bar but it has an outside patio with a pool table and a nook for (is that Golden Tee?!?) two arcade games. Nice sized bar with plenty of screens all around, so what about the food? Someone else on Yelp complained about the size of their wings but I found them very adequate (ladies, it's not the size of the wings but how feels in your mouth). Accompanying the beers were chili cheese fries which I thought were pretty darn good, not to mention our friendly and cute server. Thank you (!) and 4 stars in return! We had originally walked into this strip mall to have a breakfast burrito at Gourmet Burrito but OOPS they had just closed. So we walked around the corner to Big Apple. We sat outside because it was a lovely day and shared a 12" pizza. It was a perfect little lunch -it wasn't gourmet pizza but the cheese was ooey gooey and the crust was really nice, thick and chewy but still a little crispy, not a grease sponge like lesser pizzas (Pizza Hut et al.) Oh and it was CHEAP, I don't think we could have spent less on lunch if we'd gone to Wendy's. So we'll be back for sure! read more

We went here on a whim today. I'm glad we did. This pizza was SO good. The cheese was sooooo delicious. I ordered pepperoni/jalapeño pizza and it was perfect. The service was good too. The ambience was pretty cool. The whole place is very 70's with wood paneling. They even played some fun old school music. I have never been so disappointed in a place in my life. After reading the good reviews on Yelp, my hubby and I were excited about eating here. We showed up around 10:15 on a Friday night. We seated ourselves and waited for the server. 15 minutes later she showed up, after I gathered my stuff up and we prepared to leave. We went ahead and ordered drinks and when she finally came back, she only had one menu. She couldn't find any more. She dropped it off and left.
