This is the most unusual review I have written. After reading the completely unfair, untrue and viscous lies posted by some Yelp members from around the country, I decided to take some action. Free speech is a cherished gift under our constitution, but liable and slander is a crime. I decided I would try it for myself so I got into my car and drove over 125 miles just to eat lunch at Big Apple Pizza and meet the owner. Based upon my experience and being formerly from New Jersey/New York, home of thousands of Pizza places, I would give Big Apple Pizza 5 stars. I know what good pizza is and Big Apple makes GREAT pizza. Their sandwiches are tasty and the prices are reasonable. I was honored to have eaten in restaurant where our president chose to dine and honor the owner. People may not agree with the President's politics or how things are going in Washington, but our President was voted into office by the American people. He deserves the respect of each and every American. If you don't like him, then you can vote against him during the elections. Just don't ever attack a business or anyone else out of hate. When you do that we are all embarrassed as Americans. read more

This pizza shop goes above and beyond just making pizza. President Obama recently visited the shop to thank the owner for his record breaking blood drives. I personally participated in another event a few years ago. The shop was trying to break the Guiness world record for longest pizza line. Not only was it a fun time being there and participating in the world record breaking event, the best part was that all the pizzas made for the event were given to the local residents who participated. The pizza is good, an while it may not be the "best in the world," it still has a record breaking quality of community involvement and helping others. I've been a customer since the first time I walked into Big Apple ten years ago. The garlic knots, flatbread, and pizza pinwheels are delicious, and the service is always great, too. One other thing I really love about this Big Apple is that the family which owns and runs the place is incredibly community-minded. Every month there is an event where 100% of the sales are donated to help a local family or individual in crisis. What other business does that? For me, that's a sign of a true hometown business where I want to spend my dollars...and I do. And if I get great pizza as part of the mix - well, then I'd call that a big win-win. i've been eating big apple pizza since they were in orange blossom mall food court...the pizza was great then, just as it is now; good crust, good toppings and the customer service is always excellent. my only problem with them is that they don't have a location in sebastian where i currently live...so i can only get their pizza when i'm down in ft pierce for work or to visit family. (on a personal note, the owner was a high school classmate, we were in home room together, though we were not buddies or anything. which is to say my positive review is not (necessarily) motivated by anything other than my thoughts about the restaurant itself.) read more

This place is amazing! The food is good. The staff is great. And so is the owner. Decided to go there after seeing the president being hugged by the owner. For me it epitomized America..two individuals with maybe some different political opinions huggin it out in a pizza place. As an Community Coordinator working with Disadvantaged Children, our group bus stopped at Big Apple Pizza, while driving home from a group field trip. Not only was their pizza Great, the A+ staff was able to handle our large order quickly, give us double the plates & napkins we needed, and asked if we needed any help taking it to our bus. We will definitely be back next year, & Now that I let the children know the President was there, & got a hug - They don't want to on the bus next time, they want to eat inside - Why? because they want hugs with their pizza too! read more

I have nothing bad to say about the food here, their Pizza is great and their meatball sliders to die for, they are on the pricey side compared to many other restaurants in the area but I can live with that as they are right around the corner from me. The owner, Scott Van Nuzer, is one heck of an enthusiastic American and I love that he and the President warmed to each other as spontaneously as they did. For years I was hearing the hype about this Pizza joint that is sooo great, I mean what a joke. I would get a California frozen pizza from the grocery store over that crap any day. The place is pretty cool but the food sucks. Maybe thats why he moved from the Big Apple because New Yorkers didnt like his crap pizza. The friends I went with had pasta and the pasta was not fresh or homemade. This was your typical dive italian restaurant that just sucks. oh, my gosh, this is one of the best pizzas i've eaten. i'm not much of a pizza lover, but my husband and i were visiting some friends in the area, and they kept bragging about this place, so we went..i thought you would have to go to new yoor to enjoy this type of quality pizza...wrong! and the service was awesome we were a large party and wanted to sit together , and they went out of their way to make sure we were happy with the seating arrangement! will go back? yes, and i truly recommend it!!! read more

Had lunch here with my girlfriend. After actually eating here (unlike 99% of the posts) I can honestly say that the pizza really is good. Also, the service was good too. They were friendly and very laid back (joked around with us a bit). I would definitely go back and I do recommend it to anyone in the area. We had the 16" thin crust pie with pepperoni and mushrooms. Can't eat them myself, unfortunately, but added a note asking that they be given to current customers or a local homeless shelter. Since I am originally from New York City I am very particular about pizza. While I can't say this place is quite at the level of with the best from my hometown, it is as close as any place in FL can get. I especially appreciate the crust, which is solid enough to stand up to all the "stuff" that gets heaped on it, but is not overly spongy, or brittle, the way so many can be. This is probably the most personable and most welcoming restaurant in all of Fort Pierce. The food is warm, comforting, and delicious. If you go to Big Apple pizza by Indian River State College you will be sure to see the owners bright smiling face running around and greeting customers. They always have specials and the staff is very fast and friendly. I recommend anyone in Fort Pierce to stop and get a pizza from Big Apple pizza! read more
