The food is good, but the customer service over the phone needs improvement. I really think that simple questions should get simple answers, not rude and condescending responses. It was my first visit, for a Saturday the place was not full but tried anyway. Server took a little to come to thr table but as soon as I ordered my food wasn't that long before it arrived. Today we tried to eat breakfast . There were 3 of us plus a baby. I have a lap band with a medical card that also addresses restaurants as to the amount of food I'm able to eat which is 1/4 cup. I asked to order off the children's menu as I always do in other restaurants. I was told I couldn't. The manager told me no. Which is the proggative of the establishment however we choose not to eat there and left. Went to another place 1/4 mile away spent 50.00 on our tab. What I can't understand is that they would let a 50 dollar tab eat elsewhere. It says to me it's thier pure greed. I will tell all of my friends as I belong to a lap band support group as well. My friend and I stopped into this crap shack to try it out as I have been here in the past but forgot the experience. Obviously couldn't have been too great or too repulsive to not return. Well, congratulations big apple !! You get the prize for being too repulsive to return. My friend ordered a basic cheese omelette, which he said was " okay " but then later told me he was just being polite since I paid for it. Lol. The omelette was tasteless greasy and over cooked. It didn't look appetizing but then, I don't care for them. I ordered the meatloaf dinner/lunch. For one , this meal came with no bread and the veggies looked like basic canned vegetable medley. No seasoning and even had a weird taste. Absolutely awful! The "meatloaf" had a weird cheap texture and was dense and obviously from a frozen cheap meal box. Just disgusting. The gravy was thick as hell and looked to be reheated because it was congealed on top. After a couple small bites I threw it out. I did see an older crowd here so I'm assuming they are cooking to appease the golden oldies?? Idk. In any event I'll NEVER be back. My stomach just doesn't deserve this kind of abuse! read more

Definitely does not specialize in customer service, called and placed an order for pick up for our whole staff. Ordered pancakes with a side of bacon and sausage. When going through the food there was only pancakes in the order. Called and spoke with guy who answered who later to find out is the owner PETE blamed us and said we never asked for that because if we did the lady would've wrote it down. I asked if hes saying that it was our fault he continued to say "of course" Was not given a receipt as well. if the owner can speak to his guests with no regard don't expect too much from the establishment itself. read more

This is one of my favorite breakfast places in town! The service is always fast and friendly. Today we sat down, ordered, and got our food super quick. They give you a pitcher of water which is always great so you don't have to wait on the server to refill your drinks. The food is always great. Their biscuits are hot, flaky, and amazing! I work down the street at Gerald Auto Sales and we order lunch here almost every Saturday for about 12 of us! The service is ALWAYS great! The food is always delicious and the portions are ALWAYS plentiful! We just love it. We understand how difficult it is to call a business on a Saturday during the lunch time rush but they have NEVER messed our order up! I finally made my way into Big Apple Pancake house. Big Apple closed at like 3pm, and I never feel like waking up early to get in for breakfast. Well my quest to stop eating at night had me awake bright and early the next day #Starving. I was ready to cut a bitch! I woke up craving pancakes so off to Big Apple I went. The inside of this restaurant looked awesome. This particular building years ago was a family restaurant called the family table for years, but in recent years they've changed owners and been different concepts. (Chinese buffet being one.) I think the Big Apple owners did a nice job renovating the place. Anywho I went for the peach pancakes. The presentation was horrendous. My peach pancakes just looked like they opened a can of sliced peaches and dumped them right on top of pancakes. Maybe I'm just used to other places topping them with whip cream or at least having the fruit being warm? Nope I got cold peaches on top of pancakes. I didn't really think the pancake itself was anything spectacular. For $7 this dish really missed the mark with me. I will go back and try something else, but for now I'm not impressed at all. read more

My boyfriend had the Super Jumbo Burger the other day and it was HUGE! Two burgers,covered in three kinds of cheese,looking like a meat Leaning Tower of Pisa! Ate breakfast here yesterday. The service was excellent. The waitress was friendly. We started to order the Jumbo Farmer, and she warned us that it was in fact jumbo. We decided to split it rather than order a second entree. The waitress was not kidding. The portion was enormous. The two of us could not finish it. The waitress also offered us a to-go cup for our coffee when she found out we were traveling. The food was average breakfast fare, comparable to Denny's or Perkins or any other breakfast chain. Disgusting! Disgusting is the word for today. My cousin and I meet every weekend for breakfast and we normally choose a restaurant that's halfway in between us.... Joliet happens to be that spot. So, we have come to this particular spot a couple of times and it's normally hit or miss with the service and food. Well, today takes the cake! We were here and had to use the washroom and when I say I have never seen a washroom look like this, that's exactly what I mean! There was vomit and feces everywhere! I really had to go and had to try my best to block the smell out with my shirt which wasn't working! And what's crazy is that when I was walking to the washroom, a waitress was coming out like there was nothing wrong, like it's normal! Needless to say we left with ruined appetites! We eat there every Saturday and Sunday. Food has been really good. Starting to have problems with Waitress service. The last time we ate there, we had to flag down the Waitress after waiting for 15 minutes. Yesterday we ate Breakfast and my eggs and potatoes were cold. The place is clean and not crowded, the server is friendly but the food is lacking. I had the cinnamon apple waffle and for a place called The Big Apple Pancake House the "apples" are just cold canned apple pie filling. Almost no flavor at all and my girlfriend said the exact same about the cinnamon apple raisin french toast, that has no raisins. Also be warned, if you ask for juice of any kind they have to grow thr fruit first so settle in for a wait. I wont be comming back. read more

I wasted a perfectly good morning coming here. We got seated right away but they seated us at a dirty table. The host didn't think it was a big deal. He made a face when I told him "It's dirty" and he said they will clean it right away. Sorry but I don't want to sit in front of someone elses mess. And it took 3 or 4 minutes for the busboy to come and actually clean it with a dirty towel. I should have left right away but I didn't. I ordered a skillet and it looked like a mess. The pancakes were so flat and thin and didn't taste right. They should be fluffy and moist. My girlfriend ordered the French toast and it was as dry as card board. She ordered them with fresh strawberries and they came with some stuff out of a can and it wasn't even warm. I should have gone to Southern Belles or crispy waffle. The food is much better at both of these places and fast. But it is better than the IHOP that's nearby. I'll give them that. And the only reason they are better is because there are no roaches here like there is at IHOP. I can't believe people go to the big chains. How can you eat there people? I came here today..after being a customer for about a year. I left The Pancake House to come here. Placed an order for wheat pancakes which I always get due to my diet. The waitress brought them back and they where paper thin. I told her to have them done over BC they never make them like that...she came back to the table multiple times very timid and frantic. And said they are refusing to remake them and that she wasn't sure why. She tried to ask I'd I wanted anything else I said no. I then told her I did not want to pay for them. She said she would see what she could do about the bill. She returned and left many times with no resolution. She then came back and I requested the manager. The manager did not come out for another 10 minutes very disrespectful. He denied or refused my responses and told me the pancakes are always that way and that I must be confused with another place. I came to this place religiously every week. He then offered to take $2 off the bill and left the table. The waitress camecrying and restated the bill was corrected and that she was being fired because of the complaint. Are you kidding me!! She had nothing to do with the poor food service. She did everything she could to help me. I then got the check and was about to give her a generous tip but I figured she probably wouldn't have got it. I then took every dollar I had in my purse and have it to her. That was wrong. U will never go back there again. Ask for Becky the server. She is awesome. I ask for her each and every time. Well, she has memorized my order. Knows that I like a lime with my diet coke. When she sees me for lunch she just brings me a bowl of soup right away because she knows I am going to order one anyway. The food is great. I can never finish my breakfast order. My husband and I have been here before for breakfast. We always had a good experience here. So, today we stopped for lunch. My husband got a tuna melt and I got a roast beef wrap both came with waffle fries. It wasn't the flavor we were expecting. The soup and waffle fried were awesome. Went back after a couple month hiatus. They have a lot of New Stuff on the menu. Ordered the skirt steak and eggs- They asked me how I wanted it cooked (medium) but they might as well given me a burnt piece or rubber. It was so tough and the meat tasted older and older as I got to the middle. The service was also unbelievably bad for a slower Sunday afternoon.
