We were seated immediately and the service was great. Tables are a nice distance apart so it doesn't feel cramped, and there is seating on the patio as well. Our food was promptly delivered, and everything was excellent. The portion sizes are huge. My skillet was flavorful, but the potatoes seemed a bit undercooked. The pancakes were wonderful. Very sweet, but not overwhelmingly so. The graham cracker topping adds a nice crunch. I normally don't prefer a sweet breakfast, but I would definitely order these again. Really disappointed with our experience at Southern Belle today. We've been regular customers for the past three years, usually coming in 2-3 times a month with our two girls, so this isn't a review I wanted to write. We came in with a party of seven, and three of us wanted a simple BLT -- bread, bacon, lettuce, tomato and mayo, made as a regular sandwich rather than the club. We were told they could only make the club. That was frustrating and honestly confusing considering they already have all of the same ingredients, plus a fried green tomato sandwich on the menu that seemingly could have been modified. On the way out, I brought it up to the manager because I genuinely wanted to understand why such a simple request couldn't be accommodated. Her response was essentially that they used to have a regular BLT and took it off the menu. There seemed to be very little concern about finding a solution or about the fact that longtime customers were leaving disappointed. Restaurants obviously have reasons for menu changes and policies, but hospitality should still be about taking care of the people who choose to spend their money with you. When a very simple request using ingredients already in the kitchen becomes a hard "no," and management doesn't seem particularly concerned about the customer experience, something feels off. Unfortunately, we've watched Southern Belle decline over the last several years, and today was probably the tipping point for us. After supporting this restaurant multiple times a month for three years, I hate to say it, but they've lost a regular customer. I really hope they refocus on hospitality and the customer experience, because we genuinely used to enjoy coming here. read more

The amount of guests already dining in at 9:00 am got me excited to try the food. The service was good, friendly, helpful, and attentive when they accidentally gave me the wrong order. Southern comfort food for breakfast? Yes, please! I came here for breakfast with my husband and we were blown away by their creative menu. Everything had a little southern touch. Cheesy eggs, drop biscuits, burnt ends, cajun cream, fried green tomatoes... I wanted to order everything. Southern Belle's is also the home of the "bonuts" a cross between a biscuit and a donut. I didn't get to try those but here is what we ordered: To share: fried green tomatoes His: burnt ends bowl, coffee Mine: spicy chicken biscuit, iced coffee The spicy chicken was a breaded boneless chicken thigh between a drop biscuit and cheesy eggs, on top of a bed of hash browns and then smothered with a huge helping of cajun cream sauce, which was like cajun-rosemary gravy. It was SO good and I haven't had anything like it before. The portions are very generous and we each had a full meal to pack home with us. Their fried green tomatoes were also delicious, they were breaded with corn meal and freshly fried. All of their ingredients were fresh and the food was made to order. Southern Belle's had a lovely friendly atmosphere, and folks were here with their friends and family. There are gorgeous Tiffany lamps hanging above booths, which lined the sides of the main dining room. Tables and chairs were set up in the center of the room and it felt very spacious and kind of reminded me of a rec hall where we had meals during sleep away camp. There was something very comforting about Southern Belle's beyond their coma-inducing comfort food. The moment you step food inside, you'll immediately want to come back. That's exactly how we felt. Tip: When the server brings the check, you'll pay up front by the cash register. There's a 99 cent fee if you're paying by credit card to help cover transaction fees. The worst place for breakfast in the town. My family of 6 went and had awful service and Mm omelette was full of eggshells. When I spoke with the lady at the front desk she apologized and said well they cracked the eggs right next to the pan. Our server then came over and said I heard there was a problem with an attitude. I showed her the egg shells and I was again met with attitude. Not being able to eat my omelet I asked for it to be taken off the bill. Visited Southern Belle's yesterday for breakfast and was disappointed in the food quality. Ordered a country Benedict with sausage gravy and poached eggs and had this experience. Poached eggs were medium well to well done; I did not order them this way, yolk traditionally should be fluid. This made the dish dry immediately, negatively effecting the experience. Sausage patties and gravy were not hot, sausage patties were well done; no fat present tells me they were held too long hot or made far in advance and held longer than their usable quality shelf life. Biscuits were stale and cold; quality was poor, and the heels of the biscuit were dark-dark brown. I saw no Greek options such as Gyro skillets, menu has changed, not the same feel of value and quality like past visits. Hash browns not seasoned, but at least hot and cooked correctly. Service was friendly and apologetic, but the quality is not her fault; back of the house management did not show up. For a $17.00 breakfast that is not acceptable, people will not come back and start driving to route 59 for more options, wake up call for kitchen management and ownership. read more

11:45 a.m. on a Wednesday. We walked in and there were three women having a conversation behind the counter/register. They did not even look at us, and continued their conversation for several minutes. No recognition. No acknowledgment. No greeting. Finally, one of them said "Two?" We said yes, and she grabbed two menus, and then turned back to the other two women, and continued talking to them. When she was finally ready to sit us, she began walking to a table, and asked if a table was ok. We told her we'd prefer a booth, and she stopped cold, and said it would be a minute...even though we could see at least three clean unoccupied booths. Once we were finally seated, we were approached by a server fairly quickly. Having eaten here before, I was looking forward to their banana bread French toast, but did not see it on the menu. I asked if it was no longer available, and she promptly said "let me check." She came right back, and said they would be happy to make it for me. Major kudos to the server for not just saying no, and to the cooks/chefs for agreeing to make it for me. The food was excellent! Mine was just as I had hoped....three thick slices of banana bread, buried under mounds of sliced bananas and candied pecans. My husband had a breakfast sandwich, which was delicious. He requested well done hash browns, and they were served just as had hoped....very crispy and golden brown. Southern Belle is one of those places that leaves you a carafe of coffee on the table so you can refill your own coffee. Yay! Regular, vanilla, and hazelnut creamers on the table. Coffee was superb! A 2% surcharge is added to your check if you pay with a credit card. This place is not cheap...my French toast, my hubby's breakfast sandwich, and one coffee (he had water) was $34...before tip. That being said, the food was fantastic, the portions were huge, and the service (once we got past the inconsiderate hostesses) was amazing. Verbal Threats and Unsafe Treatment by Staff. I have been a customer of this restaurant for several years and have ordered through Groupon many times. I consistently tip well and have never had an issue prior to this experience, which is why what happened was both shocking and upsetting. On this visit, I was allowed into the establishment by the manager. Shortly after, the manager and her sister became verbally aggressive toward me without justification. The situation escalated when the manager's sister emerged from the back of the restaurant, used profanity toward me, and advanced in a threatening manner. The manager had to physically pull her sister away and cover her mouth, appearing to prevent the situation from becoming physical. Despite no physical altercation on my part, the police were called. I felt unfairly targeted and treated as though I had done something wrong when I had not. The way this was handled made me feel disrespected, unsafe, and profiled. As a long-time customer, I am deeply disappointed by how this situation was handled by management. No customer should be subjected to verbal aggression, threats, or intimidation in a place of business. read more

My wife and I went here after the Farmers Market and were severely disappointed. We ordered the so-called homemade corned beef hash skillet. There was tiny bits of corned beef. It is supposed to be corned beef hash and not potatoes with corned beef. I ordered an omelet that was supposed to be smothered in sausage gravy according to the menu, but was just dotted on the top. Maybe 2 tablespoons. We told this to the receptionist at checkout and she stated that the corned beef is weighed. We told her it was 95% potatoes and 5% corned beef and she rudely just kept stating it is weighed. Someone has their finger on the scale because there is NOT enough corned beef to be a good hash. Food is generally very good. Servers and hosts are very nice. My wife and I frequented this restaurant 2-3 times a month for 18 months. The second to last time we were there we had a table next to a group of 12 or so, who were joined by 6 more seated behind us after we were seated. We were in the middle of their party and after trying to lean across the table to yell to one another we gave up trying to talk. The next time, our last visit, we asked for a booth hoping that we'd be able to talk. After being seated, a group of 12 arrived and 4-5 tables were put together to place them next to us. Another attempt to talk over them and we got tired of shouting and repeating ourselves. Even the server had to lean in to hear our order. The restaurant has a private room that is large enough for at least 20 people, but we've never seen it used. I emailed the contact address on their website three weeks ago, complimenting the food and service, letting them know our experience, and asking if they might consider using their private room rather than putting 4 or more tables together. It wasn't a negative complaint, but a heads up that the noise levels had been an issue for us (and possibly others). A week later I hadn't heard back so I forwarded the message and politely said I thought this message may have gotten lost. I was looking for an acknowledgement and ideally that they might at least consider the idea of using their private room for such large groups. But I'm not a restaurateur so I was only offering a suggestion and giving feedback (which most businesses appreciate). After two weeks still no reply so the message from this chain is clear - they do not appreciate customer feedback and in fact are so indifferent to their customers' experience that they can't be bothered with even a polite acknowledgment of a polite suggestion. My husband and I landed here after a harrowing emergency department visit and health scare - by the time I left the premises I was ravenously hungry, and was craving grits. A review of nearby restaurants showed this place carried 'em and there we were! I ordered the Georgia Catfish and Jalapeño Cheddar Grits and a side of Fried Green Tomatoes. My husband ordered a breakfast platter. All of our food was absolutely phenomenal. The grits are definitely lunch and dinner fare, not breakfast like. Delicious, creamy grits topped with a lovely, superbly seasoned Cajun sauce with bits of jalapeños in it. The catfish was nice and crispy. The green tomatoes were the best I've had outside of Georgia (and making them myself!). His breakfast platter was good too, but the most amazing thing was the peach jam that his toast was served with. Just for that peach jam alone, I'd go there over and over again. My husband and I came here for a late brunch and we were pleasantly surprised by the large and unique menu. We tried the avocado toast, breakfast burrito, Bonuts, coffee, and fresh juice. The avocado toast is AMAZING - def not your typical avo toast, it has jalapeños, corn and a poached egg - must try! The breakfast burrito was nothing special, not bad but pretty ordinary probably wouldn't get it again. The bonuts are probably their speciality - it's a blend between biscuits and donuts, so good and def would recommend as a starter for the table! The coffee and juice were good, once again nothing special but not bad. Service is good, food came out in a timely manner and everything was made correctly. Servers are friendly.
