You just have to ask at the meat counter. I also like to stock up on my Azores butter here. The cheese counter is a lovely sight. My aunt loves the St Jorge cheese. They cut it right off of the wheel for you. I'm obsessed with the fresh cheese that they carry from Manny's Dairy Farm. The large container generally does not last the weekend once my husband and I dig into it. Like fresh mozzarella, but better. The piece de resistance for me is their Portuguese corn bread-- broa. If you've never had it, it's a corn and rye bread (not at all like Southern cornbread). When you are headed to the checkout here they have it towards the front. I don't know if it's like this everyday, but on Saturday mornings it is literally still hot when you grab one. Super fresh and super delicious. It's the perfect compliment to that fresh cheese! The shop attendant shares plenty of knowledge on all the products and the cooking you can do with them, while encouraging you to try anything that catches your eye and interest. No suggestion has ever left me disappointed. To be frank, there's truly no other place for high-quality oils and vinaigrettes that elevate your cooking. My favorite part of each visit is trying the infused oils with bread samples, sometimes to the point where I'm convinced I'll walk out with one of the giant dispensers and a whole loaf. I usually leave with the rosemary-infused and toasted sesame oils. They come in different sizes and are dispensed right there in 60, 200, 375 or 750 ml bottles. Aside from being incredibly knowledgeable, the shop attendant is very welcoming, patient and happy to answer any questions. I really appreciate how the bottles are always handled and packed with care, often gift-ready with plenty of tissue paper for padding. Parking can be tricky at times but it's absolutely worth the visit for your cooking essentials and pantry-inspired gifts. They were kind they were considerate they were thoughtful. They explained all the different types of meat we had gone down to buy chorizo and they explained the different kinds they had and the taste of it, the mild and the hot and they also explained the other things they had was chorizo and linguiça etc., because they have that type of rest business, small meat market type of thing. They were just such a nice group of people. I look forward to going back down there again. They were very busy for a Saturday morning, but we did not mind waiting as we had a purposeful visit.
