I go to Stop & Shop once in a while when I am out and about and the store is convenient. Also when they have really good sales or BOGO. This store in Somerset is convenient when I am driving to or from Fall River. I decided to get some snacks and they had a good selection of Goldfish crackers, which is what I was craving. I remember the days when there was only ONE type of Goldfish crackers, now there are dozens of them. The store was well lit, well organized and I could find the crackers really quickly with the help of the high clear aisle signs. read more

Store is a disgrace. here are a few points 1. Restrooms are a mess and I've seen workers not was their hands after using it 2. Ridiculous staffing. Frequently well staffed in the middle of the day and 2 lines open at rush hour. 3. Prices are high 4. Employees when they are doing anything are frequently rude 5. Clear penny pinching. Poorly lit and refrigeration /freezers are not cold enough. I've been a customer for decades and travel frequently. This store is the worst that I've been to. Gets worse all the time. Sent my grandson to stop & shop to get a few things, including the swordfish that was on sale for $8.99/lb. He used my Stop & Shop GO card at self checkout. He didn't notice they charged me $16.99/lb. Plus, the GO card again didn't put the points or purchase on the card (rarely does). I had to call customer service just to access my account. Guess that's why I don't go there very often, prices are so much higher than other stores. Even their reduced baked goods (which are not just 1 day old) they only reduce 30%. That's for something that's almost stale, with maybe only 1 to 2 days before it goes bad. Just ripped off one more time. read more

The shopping experience earned three stars, and not one, because the customer service department and the clerk who came out with my order were very polite and apologetic about the issues. Actually, I hope they get recognized for their professionalism. Now, the not so good news: I had the misfortune of using Stop & Shop's curbside pick up service. First, the website is terrible and you have to go virtually digging for what you actually want. Second, whoever packed the order lacked the common sense to not put too many bottles in the same paper bags. Two different paper bags broke open at some point. Like I said, the man who handled the order was very apologetic and said he would get with the people who actually did the physical packing. So there is that. But that's pretty reckless of the other employees. Also, I was shorted one item. And the other mistake was agreeing to a substitution if anything was out of stock. I did that with juice and the flavor they brought out was disgusting. I'll probably have to return it. So, go in and put the lemons and bananas on the produce scale and look over the deli and butcher sections and pick what you really want. The front end stuff will be more than polite, but the Packers for these prepaid orders leave a lot to be desired as does the logistics. read more

No help to handicapped on 7/23/23, left over 3 dollars in cans, had to truck 4 bags back to car with help of cart boy outside, he understood my plight, after 4 of my requests and 2 by a woman all ignored. Store sells cans requiring deposits. But never maintains machines. So I'm out over 3 dollars, had to go to Shaws who actually had employee help....service .. would love to discuss employee relations with HR at Somerset Stop and Shop. I gave the store a try again because I needed some coffee syrup to give to relatives who are visiting from out of state. I figured I'd go to a big supermarket so I could be sure to get what I needed. Again, they didn't have what I needed and really couldn't help me as to when it would begin which is fine. But to be absolutely out of coffee syrup seemed rather odd to me. We ordered a cake from Stop & Shop's bakery for a 70th birthday, and I was SO happy with how it came out. The young woman who took my order was very nice, and professional... you can plainly see that the bake shop is taking all the precautions for covid 19 too, which made me feel good. I had them put a great old photo on the cake, it looked great when I picked it up, and got a lot of compliments at the birthday party. (there were just a few close family members) The cake was delicious!! you can choose between a buttercream icing or fluffy icing, we went with fluffy, yum! Terrible produce section with rotten food. On several occasions I have ordered a pick up where the food has been visible spoiled. We just recently moved from New Jersey to Massachusetts. It took an moment to get used to shopping here. As with everywhere these days there are some inconsistencies on product availability but I have seen a chance recently. I am able to find all my items 99% of the time. The produce is the most challenging but I do understand the shortages or missing items. The world is still roiling from covid-19 part 1, 2, 3 etc. Throw in a war causing mayhem globally and it is alot. I give the workers and management there many kudos. Everyone I have asked help from was pleasant and helpful and honest. And know they have been the brunt of alot of frustration at times. They made suggestions or gave dates for availability. I can ask for no more. The store is clean. Love the bakery and deli areas. They have a excellent cheese selection. The cashiers and bagging staff are very helpful. Love there is Dunkin there too. read more

While shopping last night about 9:15 pm I noticed a couple who walked in without a mask. The manager I spoke with said he could offer them a mask . He said corporate office has told them they can't ask people to leave if they refuse to wear a mask. I find this policy unacceptable ! They are putting the health of other shoppers at risk. Governor Baker has issued an order requiring the use of a mask in indoor and outdoor places. Get with the program Stop and Shop! read more

They say employees are required to wear a face covering but that is NOT enforced and I was told they can't make them if they choose not to. They have people working in the aisles with NO mask at all. read more

I picked up fresh swordfish today for $11.99/lb. Having lived in NE all my life, I can tell the difference between sword and faux swordfish.. Whatever it was, it was tasteless. My husband grilled it perfectly , so was not the cook's fault. My own for not going up the street to Castigliego's fish mkt!! Never again!! read more

Yea stop and shop. Its probably the biggest grocery chain in Massachusetts. They have tons of selection and the store is only two years old. I went here all the live when I lived in Somerset, MA. read more

Solid, adequately staffed and educated market. They've increased their inventory and it's a clean store!

Whatever grapes they have on sale right now made my 14 month old and I EXTREMELY ill. When we called the Somerset store, I was told that my son and I were allergic to the grapes that we've been eating for the longest time. I'm nine months pregnant. I can't afford food poisoning right now. I must be missing something. Do these people not care about other people becoming ill? Completely unimpressed and taking my business elsewhere. Stop & Shop is pretty much the only pure grocery store around, with a couple Walmart Supercenters in the area and nothing else. This location is pretty well stocked, but their produce is absolutely miserable. Boxed and bagged salad mix tends to go bad a day or so before the actual expiration date, and their fruit selection is usually dry, flavorless, or already half bad. For the everyday basics it's fine, but if you're a big fruit and vegetable person, stick to Whole Foods road trips. read more

Have seen this market progressively go down hill more and more over the past 10 to 15 years. They used to be the best in the area. More expensive, but the quality was worth it. Now they are simply expensive and SO not worth it. The produce usually looks and feels like it needs to be tossed out, the Deli selection has dwindled down to a paltry selection, and the meat, which used to be quality leaves a lot to be desired. Yesterday, we spent quite a bit on two Porterhouse steaks. They *looked* good, but what looked like "good marbling" in the meat turned out to be gristle. Terrible steaks. What a disappointment. I wish a quality market would open up near by. That way even if it did not give them cause to care more about their quality, we could shop elsewhere conveniently. We are so over Stop and Shop. BTW, they charge twice as much as Target does for a loaf of Arnold bread! How can they justify how much money they charge when the groceries are such poor quality??? Sad.
