I had been here several time and really wasn't a fan. I love that they have lots of draft beers and lots of tv's as we like to watch sports. Initially I was a bit surprised by a few of the staff members doing things that would not be normal in most restaurants. However I moved to the Eastern Shore in Sept for this very reason. I want small local establishments where everyone knows everyone and not a stuffy formal western shore bar. We have been back a couple of times the last couple of weeks and it's becoming one of my favorites on the island. I don't remember what my husband ate but he cleaned his place so he liked if. I had buffalo chicken strips - they were not very hot but other than that they were very good. The beer always cold and my mug never empty. Great bar food. The bar tender (can't remember his name) was busy he was the only one on and servicing the bar and filling waitress orders but he was on his game - again never an empty glass and he had chatted a bit - I wish they had corn hole and possible corn gold tournaments. Their chicken tenders here are great. Every time I go here there are usually new arcade games, for a small type of place, which makes it more fun to experience new types. One time the restaurant wasn't really packed, probably because it wasn't the time where there's a big rush, but it was fine. I've seen many improvements over the years, so we're are likely to keep returning. Great restaurant, recommended to all who pass it. read more

My "Cheers". Big Bats has been there for me through a lot of changes in my life. From my single days spending late nights listening to great live bands and chowing on great wings and many, many beers, to my current married with child situation where we go and let our daughter play in the yard while we eat and have a few. In the winter months we're couped up inside in the booths, but it's still cool. The servers and staff are friends and make it always a fun experience. The attention that they show my daughter is great too. The food is comfort food and they have a great draft beer selection. Cheap beer like Natty Boh's, or the good stuff like Heavy Seas and Dogfish Head, they have it. My food go-to's here are the Philly Cheese Steak, the Fried Shrimp Platter, the Turkey Melt, and the wings and/or boneless bites. When they have Meat Loaf or the Meatball Sub on special - get them! Big Bat's is my neighborhood bar at night and my kid friendly fun restaurant during the day / early evening. Love this place! read more

Big Bats is a great sports pub and gathering place for locals. Kent Island is a sailing and boating locations with lots of bars. The wings and burgers are great. Big Bats is a baseball themed bar with a lovely atmosphere. All are welcome. The bartender Drew is fantastic. Drew may be the most attentive bartender I've met. He's great!!! read more

The restaurant's walls are covered in baseball photographs, and the tables are covered in baseball cards with players. My friends and I came here around 9:30 in the evening. I expected it to be crowded since it is a sports bar but it was dead quiet with barely any people around. The bar on the other side of the wall had just 3 customers. The service was just okay, and the food was nothing more than subpar. The food tasted as if it were frozen, and it was just heated up. I would not come back here again. read more

My family went here the other day after house hunting on the Eastern Shore Maryland. My wife, previously a resident of Kent Island was formerly familiar with this place. We went late afternoon, around 2PM or so, and had our 3yr old boy and 15 mo old little girl so we weren't going for the bar. We sat down and of course little man has to "go potty" so I take him to the bathroom. The bathrooms were in decent shape. Not messy but not impressively clean either. 2.5 our of 5 for the bathroom. We sat in the restaurant part and I was able to watch the O's game while eating. The table was a bit rough. It was clean, but a bit ratty. They have baseball cards under laminate which is cool, but a lot of the table was cracked and old. Fix your tables, 2.5 out of 5 for the dining area. The kids just had hotdogs they were boiled and seemed fine, but my wife had the Southwest Burger and I had the buffalo chicken sandwich. The food came out fast and hot. I was actually impressed with my chicken sandwich. I've ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich in many different places and this was the best I've ever had. It was served on a roll with what I think was cheddar cheese melted on top, the buffalo sauce was great and the chicken breast was just the right size. My wife said she enjoyed her burger very much as well. Keeping in mind that this is a sports bar and not Ruth's Chris steak house, the food was great. 4.5 out of 5. Our waitress was very nice. She checked on us just the right amount of time. She had the knowledge to bring out the kids hotdogs first without us asking her to do so. All the staff seemed very nice as well. 4.5 out of 5 for service. We will definitely go back. I was surprised to read the negative feedback after going here. I generally prefer to post only positive reviews and ignore negative experiences; but folks need to know to leave this stop off their list. Positives - VERY cool decor, awesome baseball memorabilia! That's about it though... Needs Improvement - EVERYTHING else. You walk in and wait 10 min for a hostess to even show up at the hostess stand (and it was NOT a busy night in the least). Table service is very slow. Cooking the food?? EVEN SLOWER. How hard is it to steam some shrimp, make a plate of nachos, and grill a burger? Once it did come, everything was lukewarm at best. Nachos with cheese that has cooled and rehardened are NOT fun to eat. They were all stuck together and the cool cheese effortlessly peeled right off the chips. The shrimp was lukewarm also, and the burger was medium (server never asked what temp). All of it tasted "meh." We stopped here 2 years ago...GREAT food. Last year...so-so. This year? Apparently things are getting worse each year, not better. Do not waste your money or time coming here. Walk in, check out the memorabilia, then run down to Five Guys and have a good, hot meal. read more

Decent bar food. Service has been ok prior to incident. We had a very horrible take-out experience and the manager Peggy called us liars on the phone when we called about the mold in bun (at first we had only called to warn them about the moldy cheeseburger bun, but when she insisted that it was impossible, we wanted a refund). Peggy wouldn't refund the cost of the kids meal unless we drove all the way back to provide proof It was about 2 years before we ate there again and we inspect the food there every time before biting in and only go reluctantly with a group. read more

When the waiter came to the table and appeared to be picking his nose I should have called it then. It's a sports bar. I thought that ordering the Big Bats nachos would let them play to their strengths. Bad call on my part. If they had been broiled a bit instead of microwaved, or if the chili had not had such a high water content, or if the tortilla chips had been more sturdy, it might have been an acceptable plate of nachos. Someone tossed some chopped scallions on top to try and class them up a bit. They were the best part of the meal. I am a veteran, and having lived on Army food I don't consider anything inedible. But you know that feeling you got when your parents told you that they "weren't angry, just disappointed? That discribes this plate of nachos perfectly. It was a plate of regret and sadness, with cheap salsa and sour cream on the side. read more

Excellent service! Kerry was phenomenal - she recommended the nachos and the waffle sundae and both were amazing! I would definitely drive back over the bay bridge just to have Kerry serve us drinks and foods at big bats. We had a wonderful time! We definitely will be back soon! read more

I've been eating at/ordering from big bats for years now, I always get the same thing. This place has seriously gone down hill in the last couple years. Parts of the meal are always missing. The potato mound was missing tomatoes and spring onions and had no side of ranch. So it was basically cheese fries. Same with my salad. It would be ok if it was every once in a while but it is EVERY TIME now. I probably won't be eating here anymore. read more

I ate here for a birthday lunch and it was pretty good! We all had buffalo wings, shrimp and crab sliders as appetizers and they were delicious! If your looking to have Some beers and watch a game this place is great ( as long as you can wait for a refill...) other than that the food is sub par and lacks consistency. You can order a mr burger but expect it to be over cooked, the food is greasy and undesirable. read more

This use to be hands down my favorite restaurant. Now the food is generic Costco food that anyone can heat up in their oven. Their buffalo chicken sandwich use to be the absolute best; now it's forgettable. Also, they have the same TVs they had on 1999. Their bartenders though are the best on Kent island. My friend and I sat for 22 minutes without being recognized approached or acknowledged. Had to finally track down Steve the owner and let him know. Waitress came over with a bad attitude, not friendly whatsoever. After shift change, we got a better server but still won't be back ever again. This place has 2 Star food with 5 Star prices. Instead of raising prices and cutting back on happy hour specials, how about improving the quality and doing things to bring people in then you won't have to raise the prices. Been here 5 times and the rating stays the same. I agree with other reviewers. Wings are very small and pricy. Food was passable, but last time, the fries were so undercooked. My son's fries were golden brown. Mine were white. Staff was friendly, but overwhelmed. Waitress spilled entire glass of tea was spilled all over his lap and table. They dropped off extra napkins, but left us to do the damage control and clean up. Annapolis offers more compared to KI. read more

I have frequented this establishment many times. The burgers are always good and I have tried quite a few. The service has always been acceptable. Nothing really stands out either way except once. I did order the fish and chips and it was about 90% breading. The server noticed I only ate the fries and I was not charged. My girlfriend says the wraps are very good and has never been disappointed. I think this is a great, affordable, chill spot to catch a good burger and a couple drinks. The beer selection is great and the outside seating is great in the summer time. The takeout ordering option is also a nice feature of this establishment. The service is typically good but the last time I was there I sat for 15 minutes and was never acknowledged despite the fact that there were three servers working. Ended up walking out.
