Our new favorite grocery find in the San Ramon/Danville area is an absolute gem, especially since it's right by the Danville Costco.

We were way late for our dinner reservation but the manager, Aman(?!) was warm and welcoming. The bartender (name?) also doubled as a server. Very helpful with our cocktail orders. Extensive bar. After years, I was served my straight single malt in a chilled glass. Without having to ask! The server, William, is one of the best trained servers that I have come across. Ever. Thoughtful. Efficient. Attentive but not intrusive. (What's a guy like him doing in a place like this! ) The chef (name?) sent each dish out looking elegant. There were six of us, so we had three appetizers, four entrees and a dessert. Impressive plating! He visited us at the table to ensure everyone was happy. As you may know from my reviews, the experience is more important to me than the food. Given that this is a "mall restaurant!," I was blown away! My bride is an amazing Indian cook, and even she was pleased with the food. Above and beyond any expectations!

Raj was the only server, and although he is excellent, it was a challenge for him to support the 20+ customers across 6 - 7 tables. This location has a new restaurant every few years. The lack of foot traffic and lack of nearby offices hurts. However, there is lots of free parking so, hopefully, they have a better dinner turnout. Cleanliness: although the dining area was fine, the rest rooms and passages need work. Okay, now the best part! The food was delicious! We ordered beer, multiple appetizers, entrees, different rotis and desserts. They ranged from good to excellent! The favorite was the badami chicken. The gravy for the tawa chicken tasted amazing, but there was hardly any chicken there. Got a mumbled reply when we pointed that out. The food came out slow and staggered, even with the robot runner. Took us about two hours to finish our lunch. Glad that we didn't have to go back to work! Definitely recommended for a slow lunch.

We came here to try it out and we were very impressed with the quality of the food and the variety of dishes. My family loved mutton - this place has only mutton, no lamb. Their roti and naan is also a little different from what I'm used to. It's thinner and crunchier, which my kids love. Overall, double thumbs up. Can't wait to go back to try the other dishes.

Luckily I went with a friend who recommended certain dishes because the menu is quite extensive and overwhelming. We didn't get to order this as our food alone was already so filling, so plan to go in a group if you want to try more items. Their sambar was delicious and comforting. I appreciated that the chutneys added great flavor too! I believe we were given coconut peanut chutney, ginger tamarind chutney, and tomato chutney. RECS: + 2 idly and 2 vada combo ($10.99) was just right! Dunked in sambar and doused with chutney, you can't go wrong with this. I preferred the vada but the idly is obviously healthier since it's not fried + Rava masala dosa ($12.99) was amazing. Loved the crispy, airy exterior and the spiced potato filling

When the food came, they were piping hot. It was worth the wait from someone who does not eat Indian food everyday. The dosa was too spicy for me. Even my Indian friend who loves spicy food couldn't handle it, she was sweating bullets hahaha. I would have finished it if it were not too spicy. The crepe was thick enough to allow scooping the filling and dip in sambar and chutney. The filling was creamy. The sandwich was good. I devoured it in no time! I dipped it in ketchup too. Oh it was a good flavor. The bread was toasted just right, toasty but not something that scratched your gums as you bite into it. AND not greasy! The filling was different from all the sandwiches Ive had before. I'll totally get it again. Lots of tables. Lots of parking.

I met my buddy George F. for lunch here on 12/01/2025. We walked in at around 12:30pm and were immediately seated by the staff. The interior was clean and well lit. Vibe was cozy and casual. Their lunch buffet featured more than a dozen classic meat and vegetarian options, plus salad, chai tea, and desserts. I tried most of their offerings and my favorites were the butter chicken and goat curry. Both were authentic and delicious. Service we received was good. The staff stopped by several times to drop off naan bread, clear used plates, and refill water. The total, with tax and tip, was about $42. I enjoyed my experience here, and will definitely return in the future. 4 stars.

Restaurant itself is large and spacious, with plenty of seating. It's been a good experience every time that I have gone, and I plan to continue going.

When I asked the restaurant staff, they mentioned that they are now serving Jain sambar by default instead of the original South Indian sambar, which I believe is now referred to as Ratna Cafe sambar. For me, the main reason to come here was always the dosa with that authentic South Indian sambar. Without it, the experience just does not feel the same anymore. To be fair, the staff did give me the Ratna Cafe sambar when I asked, and that tasted like what I remembered. But I was told this change was a management decision. I am not sure whether this was done for cost reasons or to appeal to a different audience, but as a customer who came here specifically for the traditional dosa and sambar experience, it was a huge disappointment. The dosas are also not cheap, and at that price, I expect to enjoy the full meal. Unfortunately, I do not feel it is worth paying a premium for dosa when the default sambar is not something I enjoy. I have had better sambar at other restaurants, but that is not what I came to Mylapore Express for. I am sad to say this may be my last visit here specifically for dosa and sambar. This restaurant had a strong reputation with me, but this change has really taken away the main reason I used to like it.
