I'm a San Jose resident that drove all the way up to Dublin to watch a matinee showing of The Odyssey in IMAX 70MM, so naturally, I got hungry after the movie. A quick Yelp search took me here, and I was shocked to see that it was actually a convenience style market with a deli counter at the middle. Apparently the way it works is you order and you can browse as you wait for your sandwich. Pretty cool concept. The downside is that there's only two tables and they're outside. I was telling my son how amazing my sandwich was from here. It was my first time to try this. It is located off of Hopyard close to Teriyaki Madness and Bee'. Olive Market is part Mediterranean market and deli. I went with one of their signature sandwiches. You can order at the cashier. I dropped a star because they forgot about my order. When a bunch of people left, I asked about my order. Fortunately I wasn't in a hurry but it was annoying to be forgotten! What made up is that their sandwich was amazing. Recently discovered the sandwiches at The Olive Market and WOW. They are a must-try when you're in the area. After parking in their lot, you enter the market and head to the back counter to order your sandwiches. They are all made fresh to order, so expect a little wait if it is busy! Average wait time is about 10-20 minutes. I've tried both the #1 Market Special and #2 Padrino. The bread was soft, fresh meat slices, and super fresh toppings. Of the two, I enjoyed #2 more! This market is a foodies dream. They have sandwiches and so many specialty items for sell. It was so hard not buying the whole store! My husband got their famous Padrino sandwich. I did a build your own which was pretty similar - both were delicious. I also got an Italian lemonade and homemade Mexican dessert which was similar to a pop tart. I finally finally FINALLY was able to make it here and try the Market Special sandwich. OH. MY. GAWD!!!! It's amazingly delicious!!! I mean, in pictures, it looks mouth watering. But in person? BOOM! My only issue is that it is unclear how much it costs to add meat to an existing sandwich. Please consider adding the cost of adding various meats to a sandwich on the menu and reflecting any price increases for ingredients! This happened a while ago as my review here is overdue from June, but I was initially charged for an increased price of $4.50 to add meat to my sandwich (the price of all deli meats went up 1-2 days prior). The cashier at the time kindly made things right as the deli staff had mentioned the original price of $2 for the added meat, hence why I said yes. Regardless, things like that need to be clearly stated for customers to prevent confusion. RECS: + Besto ($15) was amazing, I loved the pesto and balsamic glaze which added perfect flavors to the sandwich. Soft roll was perfect, it's like a flatter ciabatta almost in a roll shape. Adding prosciutto (+$4.50) makes it pricier but definitely worth if splurging + Padrino ($18.99) had yummy pastrami! The prosciutto paired beautifully with the mortadella!! At times, the flavors did become a bit overwhelming due to the saltiness of the meats. I think the onions and tomatoes helped a ton with adding some acidity though. - Ciao Down ($16) (5/5): I didn't expect this one to be my favorite... but it was!! Don't sleep on the pistachio cream paired with the stracciatella. It was literally a match made in heaven. I liked the bread on this one better, since it was softer and easier to eat. The mortadella was also as soft as a pillow so the texture and flavors combined made it great! They have some tables outside if you plan on eating at the market. We opted to go to a nearby park. I decided on getting the fall special and honestly it was by far one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. The depths of flavor and the hit of honey was definitely a nice touch. Amazing Palestinian owned grocery store and deli! Have all the familiar middle eastern favorites in the grocery store section but the real gem of this place is their deli sandwiches. I tried the pastrami, the turkey, and the padrino sandwiches. All three were a major HIT. I couldn't finish my individual sandwich because it was so large and generous with the inside fillings. The staff is soooo nice. Everyone was friendly, upbeat, and inviting. The store is really clean, put together, and aesthetic. I highly, HIGHLY recommend this place. The staff are very friendly, the store is clean and tidy. I've been here a few times looking for special ingredients and I can attest to the pita bread located behind the deli area is delicious. I bought some on a whim and asked how fresh it was, and the employee/owner at the time mentioned that they get regular deliveries. I can't quite recall if it was every day or every other day, but I can say that it the pita bread was great. I am looking forward to trying some of the imported ingredients and may replenish my spices form here when I am running low. This time I ordered the #4, which is mortadella, stracciatella cheese, and a pistachio spread. The sandwich was delicious, but I hadn't expected the pistachio spread to be sweet. I think that while the sandwich could do with a bit more salt to offset the light creaminess of the cheese and the sweetness of the spread, that it was a worthwhile adventure. I definitely will be back to try other sandwiches or order a "build your own" sandwich. The quality of ingredients seem to be high. Growing up in San Francisco with all the great Italian, Russian, and other old school delis that existed in the 1980s-early 2000s, it's nice to see one of this caliber open up in the Tri-Valley.
