It isn't fancy, but the customer service provided by two of its staff members is outstanding. Jason, who appears to be an Assistant Manager, will go out of his way to make sure you are comfortable during your stay. Joel, another member of the staff is also ready to assist you from the moment you arrive. I recommend you make your reservations through Expedia for better pricing. read more

As described by Yelp's 1 star, which is labeled as "not good," this place unfortunately lives up to that billing. But before getting into the problems associated with our stay, let me mention the few good parts of our stay. The room (ours had a kitchen) was clean, and beds were tidy. The heater and fireplace sufficiently kept us very warm in the early winter. The refrigerator was cold and worked quietly. My two visits to the check-in desk, speaking with two different staff, was an excellent experience. Now for the other details. The beds in the room(s) were small. As in not a twin, but not quite a double size either? The mattresses were incredibly thin, spring type, which hardly inspired a good nights sleep for those who slept in them. Sheets were fresh though! The TV is all app based with no basic cable. The log-in to the house system and subsequent log-ins to the various apps were cumbersome and took far too much time, They often timed out. I suppose the most intrusive issue with our room was the plumbing. Everything flushed as it should, and the sinks were fine. The problem was anytime anyone used any of those said appliances in the room above us, the wall in-between our two room accommodation downstairs had pipes that screamed "incoming!" It was a constant reverberation. It was really beyond any kind of grasp for comfort. This regularly went on until midnight and periodically as the guests upstairs used the facilities throughout the night (family). I ended us sleeping on the couch to make for some kind of space. This experience was easily one that should have been discussed with management, but since we were there for only one night, I chalked it up to just another learning experience. It should be noted that this was on a weekend, during their peak season, so the room was by no means an economical opportunity. We visit Big Bear 2-3 times a year and given our experience here, we probably wouldn't stay here again even if it was free. Maybe some of the other rooms convey a better stay, and I hope for the profitability of the place they do, but for us, not so much. read more

Completely unprofessional establishment. STAY away and save yourself the troubles. We had a reservation through Expedia for 3 nights, we called the Front desk the day of the reservation to confirm late arrival. Front desk agent gave us instructions that we can obtain the room key after hours from a lock box. The key was not in the lock box. At 1:30am after driving for few hours, being exhausted, there was nobody at the desk, and no key at the lock box. The after hour phone number that was provided of owner Lori was going straight to full voicemail box, so we were unable to reach anyone. It took Expedia 2 additional hours to find us alternative hotel. We ended up checking at 4am elsewhere, and thankfully at a much nicer location with great customer service unlike big bear lake front lodge. I tried reaching to the property directly the following day to speak to someone, and the front desk wouldn't answer mine or my husband's phone calls. When I reached the emergency number at last Lori, the owner picked up and she was so unprofessional, didn't want to hear the situation, kept interrupting , lying that the key was in the lockbox when it wasn't! I have pictures that there was no key in the lockbox, we couldn't check into the room and didn't stay at their location. She kept cutting off stating the key was inside, absolute worst handling of an error on their end! Instead of owning their mistake and saying "we apologize" she proceeded to hung up. We dodged a bullet! Why would we lie that the key is not there, when we had paid through Expedia for the stay and were looking forward to our long weekend stay, especially getting some sleep at 1:30am! There's a reason for reviews! and im so stupid for not reading them, well i read them after i already booked this shitty lodge, We arrived around 9pm and no one was available to check us in, i called the number posted on the door and was answered by this very rude, very unapologetic, she was sarcastic and shouting as i talk to her and hung up on me. I have never experienced anything like this, the staff finally came after like 30mins and was very nice and apologetic! we didnt go through the reservation! we booked another hotel because of the owner who apparently answers the call! Overbooking and Terrible Customer Service We booked a one-night stay for a lakefront balcony king room with a spa bath. Upon arrival and after completing check-in, we entered a room that was completely different from what we reserved. Instead, we were given a small handicap-accessible room with a full bed and open shower located on the opposite side of the property with no lakefront balcony view. When we spoke with the front desk receptionist -- WHICH TURN OUT TO BE THE OWNER-- she admitted they were fully booked and no longer had the room we originally reserved available. When we asked about a refund or adjustment, she stated there was a strict no-refund policy and claimed there was "only a $10 difference" between the rooms. After reviewing the actual pricing ourselves, we found the difference was closer to $80. It felt incredibly dishonest and misleading. We then contacted Booking.com and began the cancellation/dispute process. After waiting outside for nearly an hour hoping the situation would be resolved, we returned to the front desk to let her know Booking.com had been attempting to contact the property. Instead of trying to help, we were met with hostility and unprofessional behavior. The receptionist became rude, claimed she felt "cornered" and "threatened," and even stated she was going to call the police despite us remaining calm throughout the interaction. This entire experience felt deceptive and extremely poorly handled. No guest should arrive to find out their reserved room was given away and then be pressured into accepting a completely inferior room without proper compensation or accountability. DO NOT STAY HERE. You may be misled, overcharged, and treated poorly when issues arise. Big Bear Lake Front Lodge is located on Big Bear Lake and offers a comfortable stay within walking distance of The Village. There seems to only be one parking lot area which may not be adequate enough depending on the season. A friend and I stayed here a couple weeks ago in a double queen garden type view and enjoyed the stay. The room was comfortable with enough amenities to make for an easy stay. There was a patio that was facing other rooms and a kids play area. I thought the bed was comfortable and everything seemed clean enough. The friend was worried about the cleanliness of the room and mentioned several things but after I checked things out it was more than fine for a lodge. It is definitely not very modern and things may seem outdated/worn out in some way, the cleanliness with some aspects might be an issue to some but it should all be all right; expectations are key. One day, front desk/house cleaning even checked on us to see if anything was needed which was nice. We enjoyed easy access to the lake/dock area for some fishing and the easy drive to The Village and other areas to visit various stores, restaurants and a hiking trail we did. During this writing, they seem to have been doing some construction/updates. Nothing that I personally noticed but there seems to be some updates going on. It did not disrupt our stay. This place has nice location since its close to everything and just few steps to the lake. The front desk Jonathan was very helpful and friendly. However, I paid $272.00 for 2 days but I don't think its worth it. First, there was no AC so its was hot specially at night. The balcony door did not have a screen door so I cannot open the door to let some air in plus the fact that there were a lots of bugs in that balcony. Third, there is no cable so you cannot watch TV. I tried to do hot spot from my celphone but it was on and off due to poor signal. The cleaning lady Maria does a good job cleaning but the interior needs some upgrading specially the bedding. read more

I booked thru booking.com but called Lakefront office to confirm reservation, customer service was great, they accommodated my request, and they were also pet friendly, We were a family of 4 plus my dog and the room was perfect, it included small fridge, microwave, and coffee maker which I loved, along with a nice corner fireplace which added a special feel to the room. The room was also clean. The only down side was that they offered a basic breakfast and once they ran out that was it, no more refills, you must make it early enough to make sure you can grab a bite. This is an older establishment, so I knew what to expect. It hasn't been updated in a while, but that's okay as long as it's clean and has a comfortable bed. And it had both. I stayed in room 20 and it was perfect for my needs. Shower also had great pressure. It has a kitchenette with a microwave and super cold fridge. The indoor fireplace was a nice touch. Though I didn't get to enjoy the lake this time around, I like how it has lake access. This place also has a ping pong table and a basketball hoop to shoot around. Though it won't fill you up, they at least have a breakfast on the go with fresh fruits and cereal bars, Coffee, tea and instant oatmeal. WiFi is free. Staff was great as well. Stay anywhere but here!!!! I've have never been treated so bad by a hotel worker in my life. Room 3 specifically smelled like it had a gas leak. I just saw other reviews on yelp now saying they smelled similar scents. My husband reported this to the front desk manager she stated "it's fine the gas guys just came" we attempted to air out the room to see if it would go away, it didn't. My head started to hurt my daughter that had asthma wasn't feeling well. It literally smells like a gas leak very strong and airing it out didn't help. Second attempt to report the issue the manager was visibly upset, rolled her eyes at my husband. We decided to ask for a refund in that conversation. She refused a refund, stated she cannot give us the number to the owner, refused to print us a receipt, stated that customers don't get refunds and Expedia would side with her. 3. She eventually apologized and used the excuse she was having a bad day. She ended up moving us rooms. read more

As someone who visits Big Bear at least three times a year, Lake Front Lodge is our go to spot. We have stayed at numerous Big Bear locations over the years, and this has become our home away from home these past two years. When choosing a hotel, yes price does come into play, but the most important thing is closeness to our destination (it is within walking distance of the village), comfort, cleanliness and customer service. Lake Front Lodge never disappoints. This weekend we came up to celebrate one of my daughters' birthdays and as usual, we were able to check in on time, the room was clean and comfortable, and Louie and staff were welcoming and helpful. Sure there are 5 star hotels out there, but they rarely give you that 'at home' feel. Looking forward to our next visit! read more

We booked a room at Big Bear Lakefront Lodge for a family Christmas vacation. First of all, the bathroom sink was clogged and smelled terrible, so that we couldn't sleep all night. We sprayed a whole bottle of perfume to make it at least a little bearable. We had to wash our hands and face in the kitchen sink which was disgusting. Since they knew already that the room was booked, it had to be fixed beforehand. Next, you might not believe it, but they only left a half of hand-cut scotch for washing the dishes Then, they had recently done some conversation and there was dust everywhere. Just arrived and tired of driving, we decided to enjoy the view of the lake while drinking our coffee on the balcony; however, the chairs were buried in a layer of dust, so that my husband and I had to clean them to use. And the last but not least was the horrible WiFi connection which got disconnected on and off giving me hard time completing my remote job today. By the way, if you decided to book a room here, don't forget to bring your shampoo hand soap On the top all all, the awful room the front desk person was really disrespectful and talked to me like playing and clinging to the words. very very old building and dirty room. we got the suite, and it was very disappointing. the floors are super old, the bed sheets were not clean, and we had to request new ones. there were bugs, very dirty old couch, small tv, and the wifi is SUPER slow. it's shared with everyone so it barley loads. very thin walls and ceiling as well, you can hear every little footstep. overall just not worth the money. stove barley turned on too read more

They arent solid on their word. One employee said one thing and then another said another. Told us 1 hour to check in and it's been over an hour. They lied about a deposit and won't fix any corrections. They threw every responsibly on the new employee. Wow now I get in my room and the TV doesnt work. The time is took for the tub to fill up was ridiculous. You have to have it straight hot for warm water otherwise putting cold on gives you cold water. They painted the tub! Now i am literally sitting here with floating paint parts. Gosh can this place get any worse for the problem it was getting in?? I have literally been sitting in the tub for over twenty minutes with hot water, and it's still hot or full.And all it's doing is getting cold while it's filling. The water coming out isn't even hot enough to make a nice bath. I went to the front 2 times and they didn't care to fix anything. Now when I started to get mad they said they would cancel my reservation instead of fixing it because the way I was acting. 1 Star - Refund Refused After Uninhabitable Room Checked in and immediately found major issues: broken door lock, non-working toilet, and no heat. Front desk staff confirmed the room was not rentable, told me to check out right away, and promised a refund. I left immediately and did not stay at all. Later, management refused the refund, claiming the employee no longer works there and denying authorization. When we saw our room the rack for clothes was falling out of the wall, and there was hair on the sheets. We went to the office and asked for a refund She pointed to the sign and said no. We asked for another room to be cleaned for us. When we got to the second room at 4 we asked if the manager approved it. She said yes! The light went off and, on all evening, there were dirty dishes in the dishwasher, there was yogurt left in the freezer from previous customers. There was a hole cut in the front blinds that could be looked through and was very unnerving. We had to hang a towel over it. The stove was dirty and the floors were filthy. We went down and told them that we were uncomfortable and didn't want to stay, but the day manager would not even acknowledge my son when he tried to talk to her. We stayed this past weekend for my birthday. It was such a relaxing stay here! I'm so glad I found this lodge and decided to book with them. We reserved a room with a lake view which was absolutely lovely. We stayed in room 12, but I think next time I'll request a room on the second level. I loved how close we were to the village! Before even arriving to the hotel room, I get a call from the lodge stating my card was declining, the approach from the worker was very rude and it was in fast her putting the information incorrectly when billing. After the rude phone call where she rushed me to say I only had 10 mins before my reservation was cancelled and still decided to put me on hold, I expected better when arriving. However, when we arrived at check in at 3pm as I paid for, the room was not ready. I was not ready till about 2 hours later at 5pm. I expressed to the room staff that I had a 10 month old that was cold due to the snow and needed her nap time they did not care and said they were fully booked. My 10 month old was fussy all day to the lack of sleep. Knowing they were fully booked when they called me rudely they should have better prepared themselves. The room was okay, with kitchen but no dish soap to wash baby bottles. The hotel staff wasn't even at check in spot when asked. I gave this location a chance because I read that there was a change in management and an improvement. However, I was very disappointed. The location is great right next to the lake. They could really do a lot of great things with this location. I went to my room, it was just ok. I wasn't surprised with it being a bit rundown and outdated but the fireplace wasn't working. I let the front desk know and the girl was very nice. She came to my room, tried to fix it but wasn't able to. She stated she could upgrade my room for no extra charge. She gave me the room next-door, which had a Jacuzzi tub, very nice. However, there were no drawers to put my clothes in and nowhere to hang my clothes. I'm leaving this place an upgraded rating from 1 star to 2 only because of her. She was very nice and had great customer service skills. I wasn't even going to write a negative review initially and was considering staying there again in the summer because the price wasn't too bad considering the location. Then I saw 2 charges on my checking account. I called today and spoke to a young man who explained that the $100 was a security fee and would be refunded in 2-3 days. That's fine. I can wait the 2-3 days but the initial charge for $192 was supposed to be for my room plus a pet fee which the girl said she refunded because I had a service dog with me. He stated she was new and made a mistake and the $192 was the regular price for 1 night without a pet fee. So you mean to tell me there were over $80 in taxes/fees? It should have been around $130 without a pet fee. That's what I was told on the phone when I booked. I had a very difficult time talking to him because he kept interrupting me which made me more frustrated. When I asked for his name he refused to give it to me. I had to ask for a manager/owner to call me back. I cannot express how rude he was to a customer and how horrible his customer service was, even if he wasn't able to give me a refund. He could've been much more polite, but he chose to be rude and continue to interrupt me and tell me that I was the one getting hostile. I was not hostile at all. I was frustrated yes, but I wasn't threatening to hurt him or anything. All I did was say that I wasn't initially gonna write a review but now I'm gonna write a negative review that's not hostile. That's just telling the truth. His attitude was very LA. I went to Big Bear to get away from LA attitude. Also, my bed had some kind of crumbs in it before I even got into it. I don't normally get this upset, but I'm extremely upset and dissatisfied and will never, I repeat never recommend this location to anyone. Additionally, there were no towels in the room and bedroom floor was so dirty I had to wear socks. We ended up leaving after one night and ate the loss in money.
