bedroom floor was not swept, vacuumed or mopped, the bathroom floor had 12-15 hairs stuck to it.. complained to the manager and he didn't seem concerned, not even a apology!

My boyfriend and I stayed here on Sunday night during the 3 day weekend and really enjoyed the cute little room. It was decorated with farm animals and had a Charlotte's web theme. There was no fridge or microwave, but they had a powerful little space heater, a comfy bed with a plush blanket, a tv, and a good hot shower with good water pressure. This place is right in between big bear lake (30-40 minute drive) and lake arrowhead (20-30 minute drive). I will definitely be coming back, it was comfy and a great deal and location.

Wow! This place is everything we could have asked for and some. Super friendly and helpful staff, great view from every angle, and a very modern take on hotel/motel hospitality. We will definitely be back!!!

Motel is great inside. Exterior needs refurbishing. Rooms clean as can be. Hotel manager was great. Very, very accommodating and super friendly Best part besides cleanliness inside and nice hosts, your dog can stay here. Don't let the outside turn you away, inside is just fine for an overnight stay.

CONTACT THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT The couple managing the motel are very nice, if they were any less nice, not many would stay there. The owners should be very happy they have a couple who know how to DEFUSE an awful situation!! When guests arrive, they have already paid, no refunds, says the sight, so what can they do??? The website says "air conditioning" NOPE!!!!!! HOT ROOMS TOO!!! So the management talks SWEETLY, such a calm and seemingly accommodating personality but what is really happening is the guest is being SMOOZED!! The carpets are unhealthy filled beyond belief with disgust, in fact I will be sending my photos to the consumer complaint department of the Attorney Generals Office, these rooms should be taken off the market until they are brought up to code! The showers, sinks, and beds are clean but the carpets, should be taken out immediately by the health department. It is a pet friendly motel and I would not allow my service animal to sleep on the floor!!! The AIR CONDITIONERS DO NOT WORK AT ALL except in a room or two! I heard guest after guest ask about a room with air only to be SMOOZED about how sorry they were that they were not working "right now" like if they just broke and the rooms were not rented under FALSE ADVERTISMENT OF BEING AIR CONDITIONED! They are not!!! I heard maybe three rooms working, everyone else was given a box fan. Like I said the management are SO NICE but the guest still paid for a room with air and did NOT GET IT, nor did I get a discount that I asked for!!!! But he did say, " oh sure I will see what I can do" AND THEN DID NOTHING!!! They BS you in a very accommodating voice and mannerisms, don't fall for it! I will take my complaints to a hirer leaves and get the NEED CHANGES DONE!!! But please don't rave about how nice you were BSed by management because that is what it is. Honestly THEY ARE SO NICE YOU CAN CLOSE YOUR EYES TO THE FALSE ADVERTISING OF ROOMS WITH AC, and the disgusting carpets!! That has to be health codes broken there!!!

Fate drove me and my boys to stay at this motel this weekend when our intention was simply Big Bear for some snow. It was literally bumper to bumper on the 18 for the next 20 miles in to Big Bear, got fed up, I glanced over to my left when just passing Running Springs, saw the motel and said F-it we are going to get something here. What a great decision that was. Run by a couple, the young lady behind the desk was quite receptive, friendly and gave us an available two bed room above the office for $100 all-together. The guy went up to the room in advance and started the heater for us. Appear to be family people, quite friendly and their little dude running around is awesome. The couple was very down to Earth and I rather liked the conversations I had with them at different times. They treat you in a manner they would want to be treated and that made for me and my boys having a great experience. The friendly couple, nice room, quite a bit of snow for the kids to play in, being within walking distance of Running Springs and driving distance of Big Bear, this place was a great decision. I would certainly do it all over again and have no problems recommending Deer Creek motel. For anyone complaining about hotel/motel/cabins in the mountains, you really need to have the right mindset when you come up to the mountains to know the expectations of there are. Want something like a class A city motel for $200 plus a night then by all means go ahead into Big Bear, especially on a weekend. We came up to have fun snow tubing and just being out of the city staring at four walls, not to make fashion statements or impress people by where we were staying. You're either up here to have fun or you're not.

Quality artwork (not so quality phone camera).

First of all the cabin was really tiny even for just the two of us but it was very cozy. Everything was clean and pretty much everything you need in that space. One night stayed came with 3 wood bundles and a few starters which is enough through the whole dinner time.We didn't use kitchen inside the cabin at all.First time we cooked a steak on the bonfire and the second time I brought pre made food from home and just reheat it on the bonfire.Keep in mind,If you wanna grill anything on the fire you have to used Tinfoil and do not cook your meat directly on the grilled.(I think it was written somewhere) Inside cabin they provided an electric stove top,Plates and all kitchen utensils including dish soap and sponge. Both my husband and I have cell phone service just fine (Verizon) but when you're surrounded with that beautiful nature just leave your phone in the cellphone lockbox and forget about it (Just don't forget it when you check out) There were 2 electrical outlets that I saw so far inside the cabins. One was by the bed or by the dining table (Depend on which cabins you got) and another one next to toilet in the bathroom. Was it convenience? Not really but it's doable for us. Water pressure was good but used water one thing at the time.No sink and shower in the same time. There was no mirror or bathroom sink whatsoever,so get a lil creative of How you would put make up on or brush your teeth. Each cabins have there own individual parking,So don't worried about it. On the second visited there was cute deers walked by really close to our cabins.Love that! Customer service were great! Basically anything you need or any questions just text them. There was no front desk to check in or out. Before 4 pm which is check in time they will texted you the code and the instructions and then before check out time they will text you another code for check out.Easy and convenience. We can't wait to go back for the third time,Hopefully we can make it happen soon!

PROS: Most everything in our cabin seemed super clean and newer (we stayed in Esther). I was surprised at how nice the bathroom & shower were as well, given the amount of space they had to utilize. Once the water got warm (less than 5 min), I had a blazing hot shower with great pressure. I didn't use the shampoo or conditioner- but the body wash smelled so amazing!!! The little kitchen is well appointed for the space. A water kettle, some dishes and a small fridge. We always like to bring our own food & beverages- and I was surprised at how much I could fit in there! Our view was pretty epic from the outside and the bed (*minus at night- if you're sensitive to lights like I am, bring an eye mask to sleep with, as the home in the distance has some bright exterior lights!). This cabin is situated in a great little spot. Pretty private, with space for the dogs. The fire pit is so awesome, easy to use and they supply you with all that you need to start it and roast some yummy smores. CONS: There are lots of flies and tiny bugs (obviously because you're in nature)- but it would be handy to have thought to bring the anti-bug coils/repellants. The bed is comfortable to some I'm sure- but we are picky and it wasn't amazing for us. There's only ONE standard plug in power outlet & 2 usb (not mini!) by the door/table. Nothing near the bed or in the kitchen area- so plan accordingly. Also, there was no mirror anywhere in the cabin- and I only realized this once I went to take my contacts out for the night. So if you wear contacts or like to put on a splash of makeup before, heading into the little town... Bring your own! Overall, I'd give this place an eight out of 10. Super cute... Love that it was dog friendly... Gorgeous surroundings... We would definitely come again Insider hack: request Tom, Mary, or the cabins near Mary for the best views!!

We had an extremely disturbing experience at this hotel…read more After staying two nights, we discovered a large bed bug in our room (photo attached). This was not a tiny insect that just arrived. It was a fully grown bed bug, which strongly suggests an established infestation. What made the situation worse was how it was handled. When we reported it to management, the owner/office manager immediately tried to accuse us of bringing them, stating things like "they don't get there by themselves" and referencing his age and personal history instead of addressing the actual issue. This was incredibly unprofessional and dismissive. For context, I am 8 months pregnant, and we were visiting my husband's hometown. The last thing anyone in that situation should have to deal with is arguing with a hotel about basic cleanliness and safety. Eventually we were given a refund, but only after an uncomfortable interaction where responsibility was deflected rather than taken seriously. Bed bugs are a serious issue that require immediate and professional treatment. Instead of blaming guests, the priority should be properly inspecting and cleaning rooms to ensure no one else goes through this. Travelers should be aware and check their rooms carefully.

Now, I don't go…read morethere for wedding festivities, therefore, can't review on that, but I do go to enjoy a couple of days of relaxation. Since I've now visited this place often, I can totally say that unfortunately nothing much has changed. The rooms are not updated the way they should be, get rid of the dirty carpet already I would say. The bathrooms need a lot more updating than placing a new shower head and think that will do the trick. Doesn't work that way. The sink still has a huge crack in it as far as 3yrs ago. Attention to details is not the owner's forte at all and it's now pretty obvious that it will remain so. Flowers outside the entrance should be real, again, 3yrs and they still have the fake flowers in their pots, fake flowers, even fake flowers need changing after a while especially when the sun is strong in the summertime, fake flowers will fade the colors away. Just buy some inexpensive REAL flowers already, it can't be that hard to water them and would make the entrance look much nicer. Still having those annoying barking dogs come right up to you, totally wrong to say the least. The whole place, the front desk especially does not look clean at all, and the fact that they serve breakfast which by the way I assume they have a permit to do so and charge you the same amount of money that other restaurants around the area do, is absolutely ridiculous to say the least. Who's even cooking it for you? Regardless, they shouldn't charge you so much. What's totally wrong as well, is when you stay here, the owner or whomever is helping at the time, they use the kitchen to make themselves breakfast, the smell of it goes right up to your room as early as 6am, and it wakes you up. I understand they need to eat but you have guests staying here and I am almost sure that no one wants to smell bacon and eggs as early as 6am, especially when it's not even a weekend when that is the ONLY time they offer breakfast. Totally uncalled for. The other bad experience this time, it was quite cold, so we went to our room sooner than we normally would have wanted to, but there is a TV so we just wanted to relax and watch a movie, the TV wasn't coming on, it took and no kidding here 2 hours before the TV started working, there was no signal for 2 hours, 10pm no one is at the front desk any longer so we couldn't get help and I wasn't going to bother even if I could have since the TV should work properly. We also wanted some tea before bedtime, I couldn't believe how dirty the coffee machine was, just disgusting to say the least, so we didn't get any tea as I was not in the mood to clean up for the owner who should take the time to look at everything around this very small area, and make sure everything is clean for her guests, it's not a huge area at all and everything is at a very minimum space, two steps from the front desk is where they finally by the way, after years, have a coffee machine, yet, it's too much to keep it clean and neat. Other places around the area, offer continental breakfast daily, some offer some sort of muffins, this place only offers coffee/tea unless you stay in the weekend when they rip you off charging you prices like a real restaurant, and after all it looks and feels of total lack of caring, and no attention to details at all. The owner got lucky to have this property and it's sad to see how very little enthusiasm she cares to put into it. You don't need much to show that you care and want to make the place look presentable, nice and clean. As far as I now can see having visited often, it's so obvious that the owner only cares to make money, raises the prices as most do I get it, but other than that can't care less about how the place is kept. Even the outside where you can sit and look at the beautiful views, totally dirty both on the floors and some of the chairs they have outside for you to sit on, just carelessness is all I can keep stating. I recall staying here in one summer, 2yrs ago to be exact, she had a temp helping while she was on vacation. It was a nightmare, and I am sure the owner knows nothing about it. Let's just say that the temp was mostly upstairs with her boyfriend then downstairs, the bell on the desk, well, it was used quite often if you ever needed anything at all. I'll leave it at that. There was much more and all unpleasant. But the owner needed the vacation. This place has a lot of potentials; it is an old house turned Hotel but it could be spectacular if the owner would really try to put more effort into and turn it into what it could be. Of course, if you are not happy, go elsewhere I'm sure is the attitude. The views are spectacular for sure; however, they are not the Lake Views, they are the city view's, therefore, if you want the Lake View since you are at Lake Arrowhead after all, that's not what you'll get, nevertheless, they are beautiful.

Here's the good: free parking. Now for the rest. Starting with security--or the lack of it. The only visible security was a guy in a security uniform wandering around the "bistro" during breakfast and staring at guests. Other than that, anyone can walk into the lobby, onto the patio, into the bar, up the elevators, and onto the guest floors. No key access is required anywhere. The Wi-Fi situation is also concerning. There's a guest network, but there are also several suspicious room-linked networks showing up. Whether they're legitimate or not, it certainly doesn't inspire confidence. The lobby bistro was disappointing. The food was bland, watery, and overcooked. When I ordered tea, it arrived in a teapot with a broken handle. Not exactly the level of hospitality you'd hope for. The elevator didn't inspire confidence either. The doors began opening before the elevator had fully stopped at the floor, which felt more alarming than convenient. The room itself was pretty janky. A decorative scarf tossed across the bed seemed to be doing a lot of heavy lifting in the design department. The bathroom sink was missing the drain cover, the bed squeaked and creaked with every movement, and the walls were paper thin. We could clearly hear the TV from the neighboring room. There's only a few tv stations and no streaming options. The second floor was noisy overall, with parking lot sounds carrying late into the night and starting up again early in the morning. If you're hoping for a good night's sleep, lower your expectations. The pool and spa area were equally disappointing. The hot tub had food and something dark floating on the surface, and children were using it unsupervised. The view from the pool isn't relaxing either--unless freeway signs are your idea of scenic. What bothered me most was how misleading the photos are. The pool looks lovely online. The room photos show bathrobes that don't actually exist. The food photos displayed throughout the hotel look appetizing and polished, while the actual meals that arrive bear little resemblance to what's advertised. Overall, the photos sell a completely different experience than the one you'll actually get. Aside from free parking, I struggled to find much to recommend here.

The Saddleback Inn is located near Lake Arrowhead Village, which is a very short and convenient walking distance from the inn if you want to get out and explore. The Saddleback Inn is also adjacent to Diane's Saddleback Grill, a restaurant that is affiliated with the inn. Note: If you want to check in or out, the front desk is located inside the restaurant. Once you check in, you'll be directed to your reserved cottage, which individually stands apart from other cottages. I thought that was awesome because you get more privacy. There is also a 7-11 nearby if you want to grab snacks or drinks. Our cottage (#26) featured a King-sized bed, television, mini fridge, microwave, extra storage space, and a bathtub with jacuzzi jets. The Saddleback Inn is also pet-friendly, meaning both dogs AND cats are welcome to stay, considering that many lodging establishments don't really accept cats. We brought our cat with us during the trip, which she seemed to enjoy. Overall, we very much enjoyed our stay at the Saddleback Inn and hope to return someday!

The main lodge had tea and coffee stocked every day, which was so nice. Rooms also came equipped with a Keurig in case you didn't want to make the trek to the lodge. The staff were incredibly kind. From food staff to receptionist to bar staff, everyone was so accommodating. One small thing though was the drinks from the bar tasted a bit funny. Both mine and my partner's drinks had this weird barbecue sauce flavor, which was odd! The lodge is a quick 20-minute (free) bus ride to the village, which is small but definitely worth a visit. :)

Amenities include swimming pool, jacuzzi, tennis courts, basketball court, sand volleyball court, hiking trail, WiFi, parking and an on-site restaurant. Cabin accommodations come in different configurations with most rooms including a fireplace and deck offering beautiful mountain or lake views. We've visited the lodge three times now. The last time was October 2020, and it was great to discover that UCLA continues to upgrade its facilities with new amenities including a tavern (they serve adult beverages!) as well as pickleball courts. We've enjoyed our visits every time, but IMO the cabins are due for a renovation/upgrade. After our most recent visit Memorial Day weekend, I would also warn guests to beware of oakworms or leafrollers (moth caterpillars that rappel down on silken threads) which seemed to be everywhere this time of year. We are a family of UCLA alumni and our getaways to Lake Arrowhead always have a special place in our hearts, so allow me to finish with...GO BRUINS!!! [Insert 8-Clap Here]
