We went out to the City Foundry for our work holiday party this week. Everyone got to pick out whatever we wanted to eat for lunch. My supervisor & I both picked Sub Division Sandwich Co. I got the Chicky Chicky Parm Parm sandwich and she went for the What's the matter Col. Sandurz Chicken sandwich. The Chicky Chicky Parm Parm is crispy breaded chicken breast with marinara and cheese garlic bread. It was delicious with crispy cheese and crispy chicken. It was huge. I could only eat about a 3rd of the sandwich and some coworkers tried it. My boss got the Col. Sandurz which was spicy chicken, cheddar cheese, pickles, red onions & Dijon/mayonnaise. She really liked it but said they weren't kidding about the chicken being spicy! I would try other sandwiches from this place. Yum! read more

It was good but the cheese wasn't fully melted the way I would have liked. It was good and wasn't too salty with the steak sauce they added to it. Ordered a "Hasta la vista, baby" sandwich & drink. I informed the lady that all I wanted on it was the chicken, cheese and the bun. They shake you down for a tip when you place your order which I dislike. I tipped 15% like a dummy. I got my sandwich and it had chicken, cheese, bun and onions and peppers. I specifically asked for it plain. My wife said I should tell them but I was hungry so I just pick off the stuff I didn't want. So now paid $21-23 for a wrong order and I tipped for bad service. I've decided to NEVER tip at places like this until I get my meal and check to make sure it's right. Only then will I even think about tipping. This WILL mean that there is a very good chance I won't tip even if my meal is correct because it's not convenient for me. It's time to cancel this crazy notion of tipping before service. I've been to The Foundry a number of times and try to check out something new each time and this day a sandwich was calling out to me. I was able to order quickly and it was ready before I knew it. The cashier was a girl that had a bit of an attitude when I was checking out, but the sandwich it's self was really good and i enjoyed it. I would say that it was a 14 dollar sandwich so idk if it's totally worth the price but it was cooked well and flavorful and had a sweetness to it. So we love going to city foundry because the food is solid, live music Fridays, and Saturdays, and room for the kids to run around a bit. I love pokē, and there is a business there with some really good stuff. So I pretty much just default to that, at this time I said let's switch it up. We've had the pizza place for the kid and that's really solid, the poke as I mentioned, but the sandwich place I've never tried. It was absolutely incredible. I had a sandwich from here and it was great. I got The Dude Abides (all their sandwiches have name from movie quotes), which is basically a meatball sub with salami. It was awesome! A little spicy and rather messy, but it was very good. A lot of their other sandwiches sounded good, so I look forward to going back again some time to try one of their other ones. Their service was also good - I hardly had to wait at all before my sandwich was ready. Definitely check this place out if you're in the area. read more

While in St. Louis for business, we stopped at the City Foundry Food Hall. I ordered food from the Subdivision Sandwich Co. twice. The sandwiches here are named after lines from popular movies. For brevity, I won't be using those lengthy names. ; ) On Tuesday night, I ordered the meatball sandwich (without the salami). The marinara sauce was a little spicy for my taste, and the meatballs were a little dry (probably because they are 100% beef). This is also a very messy sandwich. I give this sandwich two stars. On Thursday night, I had the cubano sandwich. This was one of the best cubano sandwiches I've ever had! The pork was flavorful and juicy, the ham was of high quality, and the bread was very fresh. I give this sandwich 4 stars. It only loses a star for not being pressed like an authentic cubano sandwich. I had chips and soda with my sandwiches. Both were overpriced. read more

Cute concept with the names and the assortment of curated sandwiches, but just as it starts to sound good, it all falls apart. Some of the ingredients are premium, like the Volpi assorted meats, but then no mention is made of other brands. Ok. But then, while it looks good, both of the sandwiches purchased were more dry than expected. The spreads and sauces were applied sparingly, and the bread was dry as well, with no remarkable flavor or existence beyond the utilitarian holder of the contents. One of our party considered it unfavorably, comparing it to being lesser than a national chain that evokes rapid transit in their name. OUCH! The idea has promise, but it's going to take a lot more on the menu, and an upgrade on the the outer layers that make a sandwich a sandwich, in order to draw us back. read more

Stopped here for lunch before my husband, son, and I saw a movie at Alamo Drafthouse. Both are in the Foundry complex. I got the "I'm the King of the World," and it was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. The portion was generous, and it was reasonably priced. The different sandwiches all have cute movie-related names for the different sandwiches, and the staff was extremely friendly. We really loved the overall vibe of the place and would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the Foundry. read more

Today I was in the mood for a good sandwich and decided to try Sub Division. Due to covid there's no dining in so take out and delivery are your only options. I chose take out and it didn't take long for my food to be ready. I chose the Any Glen Will Do sandwich and made a couple of modifications, nothing too serious just added a little tomato. The sandwich was pretty good and was also huge so you definitely get what you pay for. One more thing I'll say about the sandwich was the pesto was a bit overpowering, so if you enjoy pesto it's the sandwich for you! MAJOR ALERT *READ THIS* As of right now, Sub Division is only accepting orders via their website. At first I was a tad frustrated that I could not order in person, but realized that the measure was for public safety. No menus to touch. No talking to a server. In these COVID times, I'm down with that. Hopefully moving forward their site is a bit more upfront about that fact. The orders came up very fast once I ordered on my phone. My order was actually done by the time my friend had finished placing his order. The servers brought our orders outside to us wearing masks and gloves. I felt very comfortable with the execution of getting the food. The food didn't disappoint either. My lunch consisted of their funky (the good meaning) pasta salad made with gnocchi and the Inconceivable! The sandwich was seasoned ground chicken, pickled carrots and daikon radish, fresh cilantro, sriracha mayonnaise, chili garlic vinaigrette, served on baguette. The flavors were pretty well balanced. Given that I'm a fan of Polite Society Brunch, I had high expectations for this Sub experience. This place is inside of Polite Society, like a sub-lease. Due to Covid, you must order and pay online ahead of time. You will receive text messages which 1)acknowledge receipt of your order and 2) when it's ready for pick-up. When I say pick-up, I mean you literally walk in, grab your bag off the bar and walk out. There was no staff to greet or say hello and no one in the main area. I'm not sure how I felt about that. Recognizing that the pandemic has changed people engagement, it still felt very impersonal. What if I needed extra napkins, who do I ask? Anyway, it was quick and efficient. My order to pick-up time might have been 10 min tops. I ordered the I'll Have What She's Having sub. The sandwich names are so creative! The sandwich is huge and it was stacked full of meat. Full strips of bacon and a pile of turkey. The reason for my 3...no seasoning or flavor on the sandwich. The turkey didn't have much flavor and the condiments on the sandwich didn't either. It just felt blah. After my 4th bite, I didn't want anymore. Looking thru the menu, there appears to be others that might have a better flavor profile, perhaps I'll try again. read more

The sandwich came out in a frenzy and was falling apart. They forgot to wrap it "to-go", and they cut it in a way that one of the "halves" was 2" and the other was about 6 inches. Not easy to split with someone. Anyway, I forget the name of what I ordered, but it had italian meats, cheese, onions, pepperoncini, and (sweet) pickles. GROSS - sweet pickles?? it wasn't labeled as sweet pickles, so that was disappointing and a shock to the taste buds when you're expecting an Italian flavor with regular pickles. The sandwich was also supposed to come with a special sauce but it was clearly forgotten because the sandwich was dry as a bone. I honestly could not eat it. I took one bite and had to put it down because nothing about it tasted good - in fact it made me lose my appetite. Sandwich also is way WAY overpriced - $14 for mediocre is not how I do sandwiches. Save your money and time and go to Blues City Deli or anywhere in Pennsylvania for a real sandwich instead of this odd-ball monstrosity of a messy slather on bread. read more

We came here for Labor Day weekend from Indianapolis where we have 2 fairly new food halls "The Garage at Bottleworks" and "The Amp". The City Foundry STL is VERY new with limited food venue choices. More to open soon! We chose Sub-Division sub shop that has menu items based on movie quotes... we chose the Italian "I'm Funny How" from Goodfellas. Yum!!! Big enough to share! Plus we sat at The JKitchen Bar and each had a local brewery Ocktoberfest Beer! Pretty crowded but it was a Holiday weekend Saturday at 1230pm and it's only been open a week or two. This was my first time in Saint Louis and my friend took me here for lunch before the airport. First of all I love the location - it was so cool to see how they left pieces of the original building. The options and open seating are great and I chose a sandwich as a good option after seeing someone else walk by with one. The staff was polite and friendly and I saw them making sandwiches fresh right to order. My sandwich was much bigger than I realized and half filled me up plenty. I actually wrapped the second half and brought it home. It was even delicious the next day! I finally got to try this place once they allowed for carry-out; I live 10-15 minutes away but still outside of the delivery area. Hopefully they'll expand in the future. Sandwich was great: I got the There's No Place Like Home. I subbed the baguette for brioche which may have been a mistake. The sandwich is pretty wet, so the brioche got a little soggy. Toast the brioche and I think it'd be perfect. Ordering online was super easy. When I got in the car to pick up my order 20 minutes before my chosen pick up time, I got a text a few minutes later saying my order was ready. I didn't have to wait which was good, but I wish it wasn't ready so early for optimal temperature. Strange way to order...I remember when you could go to a restaurant and order. Wouldn't recommend calling, you will get the courthouse if you click line in the app. They are not set up to take payment in store (according to a worker). As soon as I used my card on app, received a message from my bank on fraud alert for a .38 cent charge. May be a coincidence. They had us wait outside in dangerous neighborhood. Their hand sanitizer smelled like moon shine...if my work smells it, may get fired. Most of the above is not business fault, it's political I get it. Sandwich was good, pretty expensive. We've always loved Polite Society and The Bellweather so when these guys opened a sandwich shop we had to give it a try. Doing a pivot like this during Covid has to be difficult for any restaurant but this was executed perfectly. Our only issue with this place is the menu is so darn good; it's difficult to choose. I went for the Yo Adrian, sort of a riff on an Italian Beef. The beef was shredded and the cheese was melted perfectly. My wife opted for the What's the Matter Col. Sanders, Chicken. It's a Buffalo chicken sandwich with slaw on it. I'm not sure which on was better; we'll call it a tie. Our 5yo granddaughter had a side of Mac. Our order was ready exactly when it was supposed to be with totally touchless pickup. Sorry no pictures; we ate before we had a chance to snap a few.
