Pretty happy they deliver to my work through Grub Hub. I ordered the bun ga nuong (chicken bowl with noodles) and it looked really nice. Noodles were cooked perfectly. A lot of these Americanized Vietnamese places make the noodles too hard. I thought it would be awesome. Poured all the fish sauce in, mixed up my bowl, took the first bite..and it was SUPER bland. Like blander than bland. They're almost there with their food. I know they're trying to cater to American taste buds but you're in California. Californians have more developed taste buds. Would I order from them again? Yes. But I would ask them to make the fish sauce and meat a bit more salty/savory. I take that back. My boss just came out of his office and said his lemon grass chicken curry was too bland and not to order from them again. =( read more

This review is for the chicken pho. I don't know...it just wasn't that great. The noodles were bunched together and didn't break apart. The soup/stock had a different flavor...a more Americanized taste or something. Maybe they don't use MSG....but come on if I'm going for pho I've already accepted that the meal will decrease the quality of my life. The chicken was decent....but really it came down to the stock and noodles. The bowl wasn't too big either...and at around $9 it is just not worth it. I'm used to the pho in Westminster....the real authentic pho joints where the waiters don't speak English and even if they did you wouldn't know because they refuse to display any semblance of social skills. That pho was also like $7 a bowl...for a large bowl. If you want some authentic pho....not the place unfortunately. Great friendly service however. read more

Very disappointed after eating here for the first time tonight. I ordered the Chinese BBQ chicken banh mi while my wife (who's Vietnamese) had the chicken salad. The banh mi was sub-par, with little meat which was quite fatty. Priced at $7.95, it's $2-3 more than the same (and far tastier) sandwich at any Lee's Sandwich. The chicken salad was basically a bowl of cabbage with four small slices of what looked like lunch meat on top. It came with fish sauce, but otherwise was very bland, and not anything at all resembling what Vietnamese chicken salad should look and taste like. If you're looking for a tasty, inexpensive, and fast Vietnamese meal, go to any Lee's Sandwich or try out another pho place in the area (Pho Vi Hoa is a favorite of ours). We will not be eating here again. read more

I had this craving for a Vietnamese sandwich a couple hours ago so I decided to search Yelp for a recommendation. After reading quite a few reviews, I settled with this place since it's close by my work. I ordered the Saigon style seasoned pork sandwich for to-go. My sandwich did take a while to be prepared but I was willing to wait since they claim that they make their sandwiches when it's ordered and not beforehand. When I got back to work, I immediately took a bite of the sandwich. It was really good. The bread was fresh and the pork was very flavorful. However, I do wish that they would put more veggies inside the sandwich. The sandwich looked flat and for over $8, I was hoping to see a huge sandwich. The sandwich did come with a side salad which was sliced cabbage with Vietnamese vinegar sauce and a sprinkle of crushed peanuts. Parking was plentiful since it's in the same plaza as Safeway. In terms of customer service, everything was fine but I didn't get my receipt. Is this the new norm? A while back, I ordered food to-go at another establishment in Mountain View and they also, did not give me a receipt. read more

I grabbed take out here for lunch on the way to the office and was pleasantly surprised. I ordered bun (I swear I did because I was craving it for days) and got com tam. Disappointing for sure. Was shopping at safeway today for a bbq on sunday. Drove by this place and decide I would give it a shot. I love vietnamese sandwiches so I was excited to see what they had to offer. It's 5pm on a friday and it's completely empty. It's still a new place so I wasn't worried. I asked the cashier what she recommended. She said the grilled chicken is the best so I ordered that. The first thing that caught my eyes were the prices. $7 for a vietnamese sandwich is unheard of!!! I was reluctant to order, but I wanted to give the place a chance. I also noticed $9 for Pho and I did the discount double check. I get that it's in mountain view, but wow I don't know any person that would pay these prices unless they didn't know better. I ordered to go since the groceries were in the trunk. I went home took my first bite and the grilled chicken was cold. Not luke warm, not room temperature, straight up COLD. Saw the reviews weren't great but I love bahn mi so I thought I would try it today. I had the Chinese barbecue pork bahn mi and the flavor of the meat was fine but probably 60% of the meat was fat. 2.5 stars. So I was intrigued to have a banh mi sandwich place so close to home. I noticed in their menu they're called Vietnamese sandwiches instead of banh mi. So I ordered the BBQ, comes w/2 heaping tablespoons of a peanut cole slaw: shredded cabbage w/a few slivers of purple cabbage. The to go container totally overwhelmed the amount provided. The sandwich had aioli (?) which I figured ok, no worries. I'm from HI, the land of "fusion" food. For the price point this disappointed me. I like Spice Kit's far better. Were there jalapeños in there? Not so sure. If there were, they were the mildest ones I've had. The sauce was salty/sweet to me rather than sweet/spicy jalapeño like Spice Kit. That being said, it's all a personal preference. For me, I'll go elsewhere for banh mi. Since these folks are so close, I may try their pho. We'll see: 'cause the waistline dictates my choices along w/the price point. Oh, the slaw was meh as well. No raz the berries there. read more

This review is for a take out, I'm Vietnamese so I'd usually like to give Viet restaurants good reviews & hope they do well. I ordered a grilled beef noodle which is an easy dish to make & can't really go wrong. The food presentation is decent, & the portion is ok, & this is Mountain View so I'm even Ok with $11. 25 for the dish. But I'm not Ok with quality of the meat!!! It was so chewy, it was like chewing leather, so not worth $11.25! Also, please add some flavor in fish sauce, it was so water down, people here can handle a bit real fish sauce flavor, please don't make everyone think this is real Vietnamese food! I would rather drive 20 minute south to get real Viet flavor & good meat!!! read more

Ordered chicken/beef skewers, and egg/spring roll platters for son's school banquet recently. The sign up sheet showed people bringing chips/dip, vegetable plates, cheese assortments.... we decided to splurge. Although we brought appetizers, Big Bites came through with quality dishes that satisfied, only a handful of skewers left by the end of the event. Plenty of pizza, homemade pasts dishes, cookies, and cupcakes remained untouched. People were asking where the food was ordered from. I love this place. If you need to have a ton of different cuts of meat in your pho, then go elsewhere... But if you just want some awesome broth to satisfy that pho craving, this place is great! I've also had the banh mi here several times, and each time it tasted amazing and came with fresh ingredients. It's a little bit more expensive than let's say... banh mi from chinatown oakland, but everything around here is around this price point anyway. And the staff is really friendly!! :) read more

Very slow customer service. I was not satisfied with the watered down Thai iced tea. I got the bbq pork sandwich. When i took it out of the bag it smelt really good but when i looked at the meat it's two different colors. I'm not sure when this meat was cooked, But it has no flavor and is very dry. I've been here twice and have gotten a few different things. Service is friendly. A few problems with the ipad POS both times, but understandable with the place being fairly new. The food is fresh and really good. Try the combination bahn mi (pork and chicken. YUM) Friends have gotten the bowls and really enjoyed them (way better than asian box downtown). Pho was decent, but nothing amazing. It beats Pho Hoa. Their prices are a bit high, so that raises my expectations. I understand that rent is high in this location, but it'll be hard to get repeat customers when the prices aren't competitive. Bring down the prices by $1-$2 and customer volume will increase. I don't seem to be the only customer who feels the prices for the food are a bit high. Management, take note. This looks like a place where most people order food to go during lunch, but for customers dining in, please provide decent utensils. That means full-sized ceramic soup spoons and long, reusable, plastic chopsticks. If you're a utensil snob like me, consider bringing your own until this issue is resolved. The best thing that this place offers is the Bahn Mi - think Vietnamese Po Boy. The fresh spring rolls are also tasty and cripsy and filled with the right herbs. Soups are also not bad, although, I think there are better places to get soup in the area. I ordered this food for my son who is sick in California while I am far away. I ordered through GrubHub. First and foremost the process was easy and seamless. Second they were efficient. Third, the portions are very generous. And, this is takeout which can mean a zillion things, but the delivery was packaged well and looks great. The price was reasonable. Everything got delivered quickly. I could go on and on. As to the taste of the food, that will be up to my son to decide. Not sure he's eaten Vietnamese food before and he's feeling awful so not sure it has to be perfect. But I am happy because they did a fantastic job with the order. If it's as good as it looks, everyone reading this should patron this place while CA is under Corona lockdown. If not, try it anyway. Thank you Big Bites and GrubHub. Location was convenient to the grocery so I stopped by around lunch. No wait to order and then it took a few minutes for them to prepare my sandwich to order. Grilled chicken bahn mi was delicious, and the bread was so fresh. Also got pork egg rolls and those were tasty as well, a little heavy on the fryer oil but still very good. This is the 2nd time I've been to this restaurant. I got a Chinese BBQ pork bahn mi sandwich for just under $10 including tax. That seems pretty steep for a bahn mi sandwich. There was a lot of meat, but it tasted more like roasted pork than chinese BBQ pork. The menu said it was like Cha-Xiu, but it didn't really have that flavor. I was looking forward to the crunchy light bread that bahn mi sandwiches are known for, but the bread was more like a regular baguette. It was quite dense. There was no jalapenos...I opened up the sandwich and checked. That was really the biggest disappointment in this sandwich. read more

I'm writing this review and hoping this was just a fluke. The ladies working here were preoccupied with a big GrubHub order so it took over 30-minutes for my chicken vermicelli to come out. When i finally took the first bite, it was cold. The chicken was cold, the vermicelli was cold and the soup it came with was cold. I had them microwave my food so I could have a hot meal. Bummer! I used to love this spot. The food is pretty good, but it has become less and less value for your money. The portion sizes of the meat in the rice dishes has continued to get smaller and smaller. For over $10 you should get more than an ounce and a half of meat. We won't be back. What a shame. I'm sure it will close down if they keep ripping off the customers. Do not go if you are in a hurry or on lunch break. Super slow service, even when they aren't very busy. Why should pho take 20 minutes? Nice little place to go when I crave for Vietnamese food and don't want to travel far to San Jose or Milpitas. My favorite: bun bo hue, grilled Noodle bowl and curry (they put taro in it, yum)! The price is quite higher than average and the pho is not the best, but overall very decent. read more

Expensive, disappointing, had much better viet food. Was in the area for a haircut and I thought I would be environmentally conscious and not drive to another place. Not many options in the plaza, but Big Bites food pictures looked decent. First bad sign was the ice machine had an impounded sticker in bright yellow. Very visible from the counter where I ordered. Hope that has not been there long, but could be a sign that the owner doesn't think it is too important. Not many people but was still before the lunch rush. Felt like soup and ordered their beef stew. $10 for the stew plus a can of coke and tip puts me in the $15 range. Why did I press that 15% tip button for non table side service? Fancy point of service terminal you commonly see in the mountain view area. Then it went downhill. Came out reasonably fast, big white bowl and lots of onions. Soup was lukewarm warm at best. Beef chunks were overcooked and dry despite being a stew. French bread looked store bought. I was hungry bur couldn't finish it. Sorry, but this is worse than what I get when eating at Lee's sandwiches at 2x the price. Don't know about the Pho or other dishes, but won't be back to try. read more

Loved it. Granted there seemed to be a little glitch with the credit card system otherwise, I will be back so long as they are open. Sandwich was wonderful and I appreciated the ready made ones they had off to the side that were used as a visual menu. From the chicken that was rich in flavor to the bread that had just the right amount of crunch Big Bites delievered. The little cabbage salad that came with it was surprisingly full of flavor as I did not at first notice the peanuts and basil that went great with the dressing. Shrimp egg rolls, tasty and not greasy at all! Service was fantastic. The young lady up front and the gentleman who I believe may have been they owner were out working the floor in order to insure their customer's enjoyment. My biggest complaint is that I just found them and I will be out of town for the next three weeks. I guess I'll have to wait but the sandwich will definitely be worth it. Dining area could get really crowded on a busy day but I was fortunate when I went in as I beat the crowd. Hopefully come next spring they have outdoor seating.
